Dana White has given an update on Conor McGregor’s UFC return.
UFC president Dana White has given an update on the return of former two-division champion Conor McGregor, stating the Irishman wants to fight in December.
McGregor (21-4) has not fought since losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov by fourth-round submission in October of last year at UFC 229. Since then, his actions out of the cage have made headlines as in March he was arrested for smashing a man’s phone, and in August footage surfaced of his punching a man in a Dublin pub back in April.
After UFC Vancouver this past weekend, McGregor tweeted a possible comeback date, writing “Dublin, December 14th.” During a fan Q&A on Twitter on Thursday, White was asked about when McGregor would be returning to the octagon.
“I’m sure you saw his tweet,” White said. “Conor wants to fight Dec. 14 in Dublin, but we have a fight in Vegas. So if he doesn’t fight on that card, he’ll fight early next year.”
White also confirmed that UFC 245, the card the UFC is hosting on December 14th, will have three title fights. One is already booked, a women’s bantamweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Germaine de Randamie, however the other two have not yet been announced.
Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje are two potential opponents for McGregor’s return to the UFC. The Irishman went back and forth with Poirier earlier this week on Twitter, and was also reportedly booked to face Gaethje in summer until he broke his left hand.
