WBC world heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, won’t be joining the DAZN streaming platform and has instead re-upped with Showtime network, beginning with his Dominic Breazeale showdown on May 18 from inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
If Wilder successfully defends his title, the plan is to have “The Bronze Bomber” face off against former world heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, who hasn’t competed since falling to Anthony Joshua in late 2017.
That’s according to our friends at Fight Sports, who indicate the Wilder-Klitschko pairing could take place later this year.
“World heavyweight title fights belong on Showtime and not on a streaming platform with a limited audience,” Showtime Sports and part-time weasel, Stephen Espinoza, said at today’s press conference.

While the deal may prove to be the most lucrative for Wilder, fans are getting the short end of stick. No DAZN means no fights against Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury, and that makes me sad.
