According to ESPN, a much-anticipated rematch between current WBC Heavyweight boxing champion, Deontay Wilder, and current WBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight titleholder, Tyson Fury, has been set for Feb. 22, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The two men initially fought to a split draw in late 2018 in what was truly a highly-entertaining affair. According to the report, the two men had previously agreed to the do-over at the proposed date months ago, though they each still had challenges in front of them.

Fury defeated Tom Schwarz and Otto Wallin in the span of just four months, while, Wilder knocked out Dominic Breazeale in the very first round back in May, and was most recently flattening Luis Ortiz for the second time just last weekend (see it again here).

As far as the landing spot for the big man showdown, MGM Grand seems to be the likely choice, though it has yet-to-be confirmed. Furthermore, promoters for each side stated that final details are still being ironed out but the fight will, in fact, go down on the stated date.

The championship bout is a pivotal one to say the least, as it will finally bring closure to this rivalry. Furthermore, it will set the winner up for another big bout against the victor of the upcoming rematch on Dec. 7 between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz, who won the first fight via knockout.

Indeed, it’s been a while since boxing’s heavyweight division has been this exciting.
