Bellator 255: “Pitbull vs. Sanchez 2” takes place later this week (Fri., Apr. 2, 2021) at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. A rematch headlines the first Bellator MMA card on Showtime as “champ champ” Patricio Freire (31-4) faces Emmanuel Sanchez (20-4).

Several select fighters including “Pitbull” participated in a “Virtual Media Day” earlier this afternoon (Wed., Mar. 31, 2021). Naturally, Freire was bombarded with multiple questions regarding Michael Chandler’s upcoming title fight at UFC 262 against Charles Oliveira

The opportunity comes after just one win inside the Octagon; a knockout victory over Dan Hooker at UFC 257 (recap here).

Chandler came over from Bellator MMA, which saw him rule the 155-pound division on a few occasions before coughing up his title Freire, the current company “champ-champ,” at Bellator 221 in May 2019 in just 61 seconds.

That’s why “Pitbull” says should Chandler becomes UFC’s next 155-pound champion on May 15 in Houston, Texas, it will only further prove that Bellator has the 155-pound fighter on the planet.

“Chandler winning the title at UFC 262 will mean UFC has to suck it up,” said “Pitbull” via his translator. “It will mean they have the second best Lightweight in the world who lost to a smaller guy coming, Bellator has the best pound-for-pound fighter.”

Friere has surely made his case to be considered one of the best fighters in all of MMA thanks to his impress run through the promotion, which includes capturing both the Featherweight and Lightweight titles.

“Pitbull” will look to add to his resume and current six fight win streak when he takes on Emmanuel Sanchez this Friday night (April 2, 2021) in them main event of Bellator 255 in a Featherweight championship rematch.

Anyone care to add their thoughts on “Pitbull’s” comments?
