With the Ultimate Fighting Championship set to make it’s return to Japan this February, the main event rumored for the card appears to be a lightweight title defense by Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar (14-1-1). Edgar will reportedly meet the winner of tomorrow’s UFC on FOX co-main event bout between lightweights Ben ‘Smooth’ Henderson (14-2) and Clay ‘The Carpenter’ Guida (29-11).

Both MMAWeekly.com and MMAjunkie.com, have confirmed the news with several sources that the Henderson vs. Guida fight is a “No. 1″ contenders match.

The upcoming UFC event in Japan is expected to take place on Feb. 26, 2012 at the Saitama SUper Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Edgar is coming off a big win over Gray Maynard last month at UFC 136, earning a fourth round knockout of the only fighter to have ever beaten him. Both fought to a draw last January at UFC 125, prompting the UFC to book the rematch. After a couple of injuries to both men that pushed the bout from the Spring to the Fall, both were able to square off again. The win for Edgar puts the champ on a seven-fight undefeated streak.

Guida carries a four fight win streak into his UFC on FOX match, with a unanimous decision victory against former WEC champ Anthony Pettis last June. Pettis defeated Henderson for the WEC belt last December.

Henderson, since losing to Pettis, has gone on to win twice in the Octagon, earning a very decisive victory over Jim Miller in August at the UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle event.
