Light heavyweight prospect Patrick Cummins will take on UFC newcomer Roger Narvaez at UFC Fight Night 42, after Cummins’ initial opponent Francimar Barroso was forced to withdraw from the contest late last week.
MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani confirmed the news following an initial report by TXMMA.
A firefighter out of Corpus Christi, TX, Narvaez (6-0) enters the UFC having finished all but one of his six professional bouts, including four first-round stoppages.
A former barista, Cummins (4-1) infamously jumped at the opportunity to fight Daniel Cormier at UFC 170 on two weeks’ notice. He ultimately fell short, losing via first-round TKO to the former Olympian, but prior to that Cummins racked up four first-round finishes to kick off his mixed martial arts career.
