Tyron Woodley responds to Dana White saying that he’s ‘full of sh-t’.
Dana White isn’t doing Tyron Woodley any favors.
After Woodley, the reigning UFC welterweight champion, hinted that his next title defense could be against Stockton fan favorite Nate Diaz, White went on a tirade about how ‘T-Wood’ is ‘full of sh-t’.
“[Woodley’s] full of sh*t,” White said. “That fight was never made, you couldn’t be more wrong, he couldn’t be more full of sh*t, and it’s absolutely not true. It’s so not true that our lawyer hit him up today and said he needs to stop saying these kind of things, because it’s absolutely not true.”
Woodley, who has been angling for big money, high-profile fights since he captured the welterweight title in 2016, responded to White on TMZ Sports’ Hollywood Beatdown, claiming that he never said the Diaz fight was booked – just that it had been discussed.
Diaz, 32, has also expressed interest in the bout.
“I don’t want people to think that I’m full of sh*t, as my boss said,” Woodley said, per MMA Fighting’s Marc Raimondi. “And that I’m making this sh*t up. That a fight with me and Nate was never talked about in December and has never been brought up since then — that is bullshit. It has. Did I get a contract to fight Nate? No, I did not. So, if I’m not thinking about the highest prize as a prizefighter, I am a complete idiot. I should suicide slap myself.”
“I’m entitled to think whatever the hell I want to think,” Woodley continued. “I didn’t say, ‘Hey, the UFC has a bout agreement, we’re in the process of negotiations, Dana White called me and offered me the fight.’ So everyone took that and they ran through the roof with their perception of what that meant.”
Woodley, 35, was jokingly asked if he would ‘punch or pat’ White during TMZ’s closing segment, and the NCAA Division I wrestler didn’t hesitate to say that he’d punch the UFC president in the face.
“Let’s punch Dana White in the face,” Woodley joked. “I know so many fighters on the UFC roster may have been wanting to do this for a long time.
“You gotta get these hands. Can’t hide behind the black suit and the promotion anymore. You gotta get this right hand.”
Woodley is currently nursing a shoulder injury suffered from his most recent title defense against Demian Maia and expects to return in the first quarter of 2018.
