According to UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is just about to start his mixed martial arts (MMA) training.

While nobody is truly sure how far “Money” is going to take this whole MMA thing, it will be interesting to see what sort of footage (if any) is leaked of Mayweather working out inside of the cage. At least he’ll get to train alongside “Chosen One,” who is confident that Mayweather could defeat most UFC fighters if he’s able to stay on his feet.

“I just talked to Floyd. He was in Singapore…somewhere else,” Woodley said during an Instagram Live session earlier this week (transcribed by MMA News). “I just talked to him a couple of days ago. So when he get back in town next week, me and him are going to start training.”

Even in retirement, Mayweather remains a very busy man. It’s unlikely that he’s going to get enough time to train with Woodley and develop a reasonable MMA skill set. Heck, the brash pugilist might not even believe he has to train that hard to be successful inside of the Octagon.

This is really just the tip of the iceberg. If Mayweather does in fact start training with Woodley we’re going to hear about it every minute of every day. Mayweather is going to proclaim himself the King of MMA, much like Conor McGregor claimed himself the lord of boxing, and eventually start goading some of the biggest stars of the sport into public battles of chest-puffing trash talk.

So buckle up, fight fans! The crossover is apparently upon us!
