WWE’s New Day say UFC isn’t for them, but would like to see Conor McGregor in pro wrestling

While some WWE wrestlers have gone to the UFC and some fighters have gone to pro wrestling, The New Day say they’re too pretty to get punched in the face.

If you’re into pro wrestling at all, you likely know who The New Day are. Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods are one of the hottest acts in WWE at the moment, both for their hilarious mic work and their talent in the ring. They’ve even released their own cereal – Booty O’s. Yes, that’s actually what it’s called.

The three-man stable were recently interviewed by TMZ Sports, and as usual, the crossover between WWE and the UFC came up. With the likes of Brock Lesnar and CM Punk making their way from the WWE ring to the UFC Octagon, it seems like a natural question to ask pro wrestlers. But these three men made it abundantly clear that they have no interest in shoot fighting.

You can see their reaction to the idea in the video above – Xavier just laughs for a while; Kofi just shows off his face and says he’s too pretty for that; and Big E states that he shakes his hips for a living (if you’ve seen their act, you’ll know what he’s talking about), and he’s not up for getting punched in the face.

Fair enough.

This does lead to an actual legitimate question though – what do they think of UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor’s possible appearance in WWE? He has talked a lot of smack about wrestlers, and a lot have responded to that, but New Day say that while pro wrestling and fighting are different, they’d like to see Conor in their domain:

Woods: “I think the general consensus is that what we do are two very different things. People say what they want to in interviews and things like that, but at the end of the day, we do what we do and he does what he does. You asking us this question just verifies, yes, he’s talking about it, getting people talking about it, get a stir, get a buzz going. You know, good for him then.”

Big E: “He’s the man. He’s the man though.”

Kingston: “If you’ve been following on Twitter, all the back and forth, there’s a lot of WWE superstars that have given Conor an open invitation. So, just like you guys, we’d all like to see that happen. If it were to happen, it’d be very interesting to say the least. Him on the mic is unmatched in the UFC, so who knows. You never know.”

McGregor has been pursued by the WWE, but it seems like he’s more interested in a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather (another man that has stepped into a WWE ring) right now. As for New Day, they will be the official hosts of WrestleMania 33 on April 2nd in Orlando.
