The Xtreme Fighting Organization held their latest event Friday night, May 13, with XFO 39 at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
The event featured a couple of Zuffa veterans in Jeff Curran and Jamie Varner who met separate opponents Friday night.
Curran would earn a one-sided unanimous decision win over opponent BIlly Vaughan, who stepped in as a last minute replacement. Varner wasted no time against opponent Tyler Combs by securing a north-south choke to earn a first round technical submission win.
Speaking to Sherdog.com after his win, Curran stated that it was the “UFC or bust” for him. “This is the last damn time I’m fighting in the XFO. I’m not fighting anywhere but the UFC. If they don’t want me, then I’m done.”
It was a one sided match for Felice Herrig, who controlled three rounds of action against “The Night Queen” Nicdali Calanoc. Herrig was the better striker standing, and took Calanoc’s back several times but was unable to finish. Herrig won her second straight with a unanimous decision.
