UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar is expected to take place on February 2, 2013 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event has featherweight champ Jose Aldo defending his title against former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.

Edwards is 2-2 in his last four Octagon appearances with a first round knockout win of Jeremy Stephens at UFC on FOX 5 this past December. Edwards and Stephens had been scheduled to meet at UFC on FX 5 but Stephens ran into legal issues and the bout was eventually rescheduled. Before the win, Edwards had not seen action since December 2011 after a decision loss to Tony Ferguson at the TUF 14 Finale. The ‘Thugjitsu Master’ was to have fought Donald Cerrone at UFC on FUEL TV 3 but was forced out with an injury.

Vallie-Flagg carries an eleven fight undefeated streak into his Octagon debut, winning his last four bouts following a draw in August 2010. Vallie-Flagg had earned split decision wins in both of his Strikeforce bouts, defeating Gesias Cavalcante last May, and by defeating Brian Melancon in June 2011 in a 175-lbs catchweight bout. This will be the second straight match at 155-lbs for the Jackson’s MMA fighter, who made the move from welterweight last year.
