Yves Edwards
Officials with the Ultimate Fighting Championship have added a lightweight bout to the promotions next show on Fox television as ‘Thugjitsu Master’ Yves Edwards (42-19-1) takes on Spencer ‘The King’ Fisher (24-9) this July.
The two were added to the official card lineup for the upcoming UFC on FOX 8 card on Tuesday.
UFC on FOX 8 is expected to take place on July 27, 2013 at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington.
The Edwards vs. Fisher match is certain to appear on the nights prelim card, likely on the web.
Edwards was in action this past February, losing a split decision to Isaac Vallie-Flagg at the UFC 156 pay-per-view event. The loss put Edwards record at 2-3 in his last five trading losses for wins. The ‘Thugjitsu Master’ earned his last victory in December of last year at the UFC on FOX 5 show, earning a “Knockout of the Night” for his first round finish of Jeremy Stephens.
Fisher is just 1-5 in his last six Octagon appearances. Another loss for ‘The King’ would mark his fourth straight loss. Fisher did earn a “Fight of the Night” bonus in a decision loss to Sam Stout last June at UFC on FX 4, while suffering a TKO loss to Thiago Tavares at UFC 134 and a decision loss to Ross Pearson at UFC 127. His last win came in October 2010 to Curt Warburton at UFC 120.
