Zhang is looking to make a splash in her return with a move up to 125 to claim double-champ glory.

The lineup for UFC 300 is still a complete and total mystery to fans, but if the UFC needs some extra firepower for the historic April card, they have Zhang Weili offering up a champion vs. champion showdown.

The women’s strawweight champ respectfully called out the women’s flyweight champ over Instagram.

“Hi champion,” she wrote. “Maybe the fans want to see us fight at UFC 300.”

“I admire you so much! And I’d love to defend my title with you,” Grasso replied. “Would you make 125?”

“Let’s work on it together. This will be a peak time,” Weili responded.

Grasso finished things off with “Let’s do this,” adding a bunch of fire emojis for emphasis.

Grasso won the 125 pound title off Valentina Shevchenko with a shocking fourth round neck crank back in March. The two would fight to a split draw in the main event of September’s UFC Noche. There’s been talk of Erin Blanchfield or Manon Fiorot being next for Grasso, but a fight against Weili would certainly add some pizzazz to UFC 300.

Zhang trounced Amanda Lemos at UFC 292, defeating the strawweight challenger with 50–43, 50–44, and 49–45 scores. There are legit contenders ready to fight her, like Yan Xiaonan and Tatiana Suarez. And now there’s this champ vs. champ option as well.

UFC 300 is set to go down on April 13th, 2024 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card is shrouded in secrecy — the date was just confirmed at UFC 296, while the venue still hasn’t been officially announced. We expect fights for the card to start being announced sometime in January.

Will Zhang vs. Grasso be amongst them? It depends on how desperate the UFC is for marquee match-ups, should there be no McGregor return or something happens with the unnamed ‘superfight’ UFC CEO Dana White has promised.
