According to Hunt, all documents from his lengthy RICO case against the UFC and Lesnar will be unsealed on May 8th.

Mark Hunt is hoping a new filing in his long and contentious RICO case against the UFC will finally earn him a win against the promotion he feels screwed him back at UFC 200 in 2016.

Hunt fought Brock Lesnar at that event, losing a relatively uneventful fight to the pro wrestler and former UFC heavyweight champion via unanimous decision. That loss was later declared a No Contest after Lesnar failed multiple drug tests for Clomiphene and Clomiphene metabolites.

“The Super Samoan” would go on to file a RICO lawsuit against the UFC which basically claimed the company knew Lesnar was on performance enhancing drugs and still allowed him to compete at UFC 200. The lawsuit included multiple charges including battery, fraud, conspiracy to commit crime related to racketeering, breach of contract, breach of covenant of good faith and fair dealing, negligence and unjust enrichment.

Hunt’s lawsuit would prove unsuccessful, and in the end he was ordered to pay over $375,000 for the UFC’s legal fees. But the K-1 and PRIDE FC star believes he has one more ace up his sleeve: the unsealing of all the documents from his case, including texts and emails from UFC executives and Brock Lesnar.

“When u are called by the almighty u better grab that cross because only god knows where u are going,” Hunt wrote in a series of tweets that included ‘Intent to Unseal’ filings with the Ninth Circuit court of appeals. “May 8th is the unsealing for u dumbass little thief Dana White et al., and all those involved in the civil RICO contraventions. Here is my filing for the unsealing.”

Hunt’s legal request cites Lesnar’s involvement in the Vince McMahon sex scandal, prior disclosures from the Le vs. Zuffa anti-trust case, and ‘over seven years of public denigration of the plaintiff by White and internet trolls’ as justification to unseal the case documents.

Will all of the discovery and documentation from Mark Hunt’s case end up being unsealed on May 8th as Hunt hopes? Thus far the UFC has beaten Hunt in court nearly every step of the way, to the point where Hunt has accused them of paying off his legal team. He repeated that accusation in his latest series of tweets.

“U might of paid my former lawyers off but u are not going to pay off the ninth circuit u dirtbags Dana White et al,” Hunt wrote.

We’ll keep you updated as Hunt’s May 8th unsealing date approaches.

NAC To Fine Biters, Brawlers And Diego Lopez?!

The Nevada Athletic Commission will meet to discuss fining Tsarukyan for punching a fan and Lopes for climbing out of the cage at UFC 300.

The Nevada Athletic Commission has a busy meeting coming up that could impact the purses of several UFC fighters.

The Tuesday April 30th meeting will address several recent incidents at Las Vegas UFC events involving fighters. On the docket: a hearing on punishment over Igor Severino’s infamous bite DQ from UFC Fight Night: Ribas vs. Namajunas, a hearing on withholding the purse of Arman Tsarukyan for punching a fan while walking to the cage at UFC 300, and a hearing on withholding the purse of Diego Lopes for jumping over the cage.

One of these things is not like the other!

It’s clear that Severino and Tsarukyan should be punished for their blatantly reprehensible behavior. You can’t let fighters bite each other in the cage, and fighters shouldn’t be trying to punch fans no matter how sensitive they are to being shown the middle finger. But Diego Lopes merely climbed out of the cage after his first round KO of Sodiq Yusuff to talk to UFC CEO Dana White.

He didn’t jump into the crowd. He didn’t pull a Khabib and attack anyone. Climbing out of the cage is still illegal according to NAC rules, though, and the commission may be looking to send a message that anyone doing it in Las Vegas will get dinged financially.

Here’s the relevant portions of the Nevada Athletic Commission schedule for their April 30th meeting:

4. Hearing on Extension of Temporary Suspension or in the alternative, Hearing on Proposed Adjudication Agreement, and Hearing on Withholding of Purse for mixed martial artist Igor Severino, for possible action

5 Hearing on Withholding of Purse for mixed martial artist Arman Tsarukian [sic], for possible action.

6. Hearing on Withholding of Purse for mixed martial artist Diego Lopes Da Silva, for possible action.

The hearing was news to Lopes, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to say “I’ve just been seeing that,” with a laughing sweat emoji. A later update from MMA Junkie’s Nolan King said Lopes’ management and the UFC were in touch with the NAC trying to work things out.

It’s interesting that only Igor Severino is facing suspensions regarding his action. The NAC is going straight for Tsarukyan and Lopes’ purses, which feels a bit scummy to us. What Tsarukyan did was bad enough to earn a suspension, so why not one of those too? Because they’re more interested in taking his money? Have they realized that a six or nine month suspension isn’t really a deterrent compared to taking a fighter’s pay?

Conor McGregor shows off new kick-heavy sparring ahead of UFC 303 he's looking smooth with it

Finally slated to make his return to active competition following an almost three-year hiatus from the Octagon, former undisputed two-weight champion, Conor McGregor has been described as looking “smooth” – as he shows off a wide array of kicks in new sparring footage released ahead of his UFC 303 comeback.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight gold holder under the promotion’s banner, is set to make his return to the Octagon at UFC 303 at the end of June during International Fight Week, taking on Michael Chandler in a long-anticipated pairing at the welterweight limit.

Sidelined for the last three years, McGregor most recently dropped a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss to common-foe, Dustin Poirier after fracturing his left tibia and fibula in a gruesome end-of-round injury.

Ramping up camp at his home base Straight Blast Gym ahead of his anticipated return, Conor McGregor released sparring footage earlier this month, showing off his striking with UFC CEO, Dana White confirming his June return against Chandler.

And this week, the 35-year-old released further before unseen footage, with fans noticing a kick-heavy approach to training, which included a bladed stance, as well as a variation of round kicks and lead hook kicks.

Backed to turn in a victory inside two rounds against Chandler by his long-time head coach, John Kavanagh, McGregor has been backed to approach the bout in a similar stylistic manner to his 2015 clash with Chad Mendes.

And while on-looking fans appear impressed with the Dubliner’s striking game, many have picked Chandler to prevail with his own explosive victory.

“That hook kick reminds of the featherweight days,” An X user posted.

“Conor is looking smooth with it.”

“Conor is so back.”

“Chandler will toy McGregor (sic) for 5 rounds.”

“This is how I spar, and I’m 62.”

“Conor’s gonna go for a head kick for sure! And honest it looks pretty fast, there’s a great chance he catches Chandler.”

Who are you picking to win at UFC 303: Conor McGregor or Michael Chandler?

Justin Gaethje plans six month hiatus from the UFC after KO loss to Max Holloway I want to take care of myself

Former interim lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje has confirmed plans to take a six-month hiatus from the Octagon at a minimum following his UFC 300 knockout loss to Max Holloway in the pair’s symbolic BMF title fight earlier this month.

Gaethje, the current number three ranked division contender, featured on the main card of UFC 300 earlier this month, taking on former featherweight champion, Holloway in defense of his symbolic BMF crown.

And en route to a rather comfortable decision loss to the Hawaiian favorite, Gaethje was summoned to the Octagon center with just 10 seconds remaining in the final frame – finding himself on the receiving end of a winning right hook counter from Holloway, felling him unconscious in brutal fashion.

Confirming plans for an extended hiatus from the sport, Arizona veteran, Gaethje appeared to hint at a potential six month layoff at the minimum – prioritizing his recovery following a ghastly knockout defeat.

“Metaphorically, I could be ready tomorrow, but physically, I do want to take care of myself,” Justin Gaethje told MMA Hangout during a recent interview. “I do think that repeated concussions, with me going to sleep like that, me receiving that shot, It would be foolish for me to jump back into training anytime before 180 days.”

“I think six months, at least, before I get back to taking shots,” Justin Gaethje explained. “But that doesn’t say that I won’t be training the whole time.”

Immediately shutting down suggestions of a retirement off the back of his knockout loss, Gaethje vowed to make a triumphant return, after heaping praise on the massive performance put in by Holloway – whom he openly admitted to feeling he would never stand opposite in a fight.
