Brazilian kickboxer and former GLORY middleweight and light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira is set to make his highly anticipated UFC debut on November 6 at UFC 268 in Madison Square Garden.

According to a report from BJPENN.com, both sides have verbally agreed to the bout, and expect the contracts to be signed in the coming days for Pereira and Andreas Michailidis to compete in a middleweight bout.

On Thursday, news of Pereira’s UFC signing was first reported by De Telegraaf and later confirmed by MMA Fighting. While Pereira is a highly accomplished kickboxer with multiple world championships, some will argue his most impressive victories have come against current UFC Middleweight king Israel Adesanya, where Pereira has KO’d and won by Unanimous Decision in his two bouts against Adesanya.

Pereira is 3-1 in MMA with his most recent bout being a KO win at an LFA event in November 2020.

Michailidis is 13-4 in MMA and is 1-1 since joining the UFC. Last time out he picked up a unanimous decision win against KB Bhullar.

This will be a highly anticipated debut on the UFC 268 Prelims. Only time will tell if Pereira will be able to reach the ranks of the top middleweights in the world one day.

Alex Pereira made his highly anticipated LFA debut Friday night and it was worth the wait as he got another KO. Pereira is known from being the only man to KO the current UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya back in the day.

Pereira, who just signed with LFA this year, is mainly a kickboxer that transitioned to MMA in 2015, however he still competes in kickboxing and is the current Middleweight and interim Light Heavyweight champion for GLORY. On Friday night Pereira got his first LFA victory in the first round by landing a perfect left hook 4 minutes into the fight.

You can watch the KO below:

Pereira is now 3-1 in MMA and riding a three fight win streak finishing all fights via KO/TKO, he only lost his debut fight in 2015 via third round submission. This was Pereira’s first MMA fight since 2016 and he is now looking to be more consistent in MMA and climb the ranks. After the fight Pereira said “I’m very happy to be in MMA, I’ve been training with Glover Teixeira for 3-4 months, and I’m happy with the results.” (Transcribed by talkSPORT)

The Brazilian had two fights with Adesanya in GLORY, the famous one where he KO’d the Nigerian UFC champion and a second fight in which Pereira won via unanimous decision. He recently stated that he doesn’t believe that Adesanya wants to fight him again for a third time.

A date and opponent for Pereira’s LFA debut is yet to be announced, but stay tuned for that soon.

Pereira Adesanya

GLORY middleweight and interim light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira doesn’t believe Israel Adesanya wants to face him a third time.

Pereira holds two wins over Adesanya from their GLORY days and notably holds the distinction of being the only combat sports athlete to knock the UFC middleweight champion out.

And with Adesanya’s continued success — having most recently put away Paulo Costa with ease at UFC 253 earlier this month — more and more observers are eager to see Pereira face him in a mixed martial arts fight.

When it comes to the Costa fight specifically, Pereira was impressed but always believed it was bad matchup for the Brazilian stylistically.

“Even before Adesanya fought Borrachinha, I said in interviews it’d be a tough fight,” Pereira told BJ Penn. “I fought Adesanya twice and I know how dangerous he is. He’s tough, very smart, agile, a complete fighter as a kickboxer, and in MMA.

“Paulo had been doing a great job so far in his career and could win that fight, but it was a bad style matchup for him. He needed to do some changes.”

As far as a third fight with Adesanya is concerned? It is definitely possible in the future, especially as Pereira has expressed a desire to venture into the world of MMA.

Whether “The Last Stylebender” is interested remains to be seen, though.

“I don’t think Adesanya would be interested in that fight,” Pereira added. “I beat him twice and I’m the only man to KO him. We never know what the future holds. It could happen someday.”

Pereira, however, certainly believes he can knock him out again.
