The process of serving justice for 19-year-old Aniah Blanchard, and her family, is underway.
Blanchard, the stepdaughter of UFC heavyweight Walt Harris, had her remains found in Macon County, Alabama by local authorities late last month. Now, Lee County District Attorney Brandon Hughes has announced that capital murder charges are being filed against 30-year-old suspect, Ibraheem Yazeed. Yazeed has been in custody since early November.
He was charged with first-degree kidnapping upon his arrest. Now, prosecutors in Alabama have announced it was determined, via an autopsy, that Blanchard was killed by a gunshot wound, and they are seeking the death penalty for Yazeed. Yazeed is the only person being charged with her murder.
“In the interests of public safety, I can say that the investigation has determined Ibraheem Yazeed to be the lone person responsible for Aniah’s abduction and her murder and he remains in the Lee County jail without bond,’’ Hughes said (H/T MMA Fighting). “Mr. Yazeed remains innocent of any charges against him until his guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
“From its first moments, law enforcement moved swiftly and methodically to find Aniah’s abductor, her murderer, and her. The process of seeing justice done on behalf of Aniah and her family will not be swift, but it will be thorough. It is my intention that the response to this horrific crime serve as a warning to anyone who believes they want to come to Lee County and engage in violent criminal behavior. You will be dealt with and the consequences will be severe.”
A second suspect, Antwain Fisher, has been arrested for allegedly helping Yazeed dispose of evidence in the murder. David Johnson Jr., a third suspect, was also arrested and charged with hindering prosecution. At the time of the crime, Yazeed was out on bond for separate charges, which include kidnapping and attempted murder. He remains in custody in Alabama after being denied bond.

UFC heavyweight Walt Harris released an emotional eulogy for his stepdaughter Aniah Blanchard following the news of her death.
Blanchard had been missing since late last month with the entire mixed martial arts community banding together in an effort to find her.
Unfortunately, the search came to a tragic end when human remains found in Macon County, Alabama earlier this week were confirmed to be hers.

“My sweet baby girl… I just wanna thank you for helping me change my life for the better…,” Harris wrote on Instagram. “For teaching me how to be a man and a better father! For being my biggest fan win, lose , or draw! For always knowing what to say to put a smile on my face and lift me up when I was down and wanted to give up. You light up my world I’m so many ways.
“This pain is unbearable… I know you want me to be strong but it so hard baby it so hard. I’m gonna find away I promise you I will. Right now nothing makes sense and I’m so lost. I just want you back. I hope I made you proud… I’m gonna keep going daddy just needs time. I love you so much. Look after us like you always did. We need you now more than ever. My lil mighty mighty tiger is a angel now. I love you baby girl forever and ever!”
As of now, three suspects have been arrested in connection to Blanchard’s kidnapping. As a result of her death, the case will now move forward as a homicide investigation.

The human remains found in Alabama are confirmed to be that of Aniah Blanchard.
It was reported on Monday that human remains found in Macon County, Alabama were suspected to be Blanchard’s.
It has now been confirmed by officials that it is in fact her’s following a positive identification. As a result, her case will be moved forward as a homicide investigation.
The 19-year-old stepdaughter of UFC heavyweight Walt Harris had been missing since late last month.
Since then, three suspects have been arrested with the first one in Ibraheem Yazeed reportedly being seen by a witness “forcing Blanchard into a vehicle against her will and then leaving with her in the vehicle.”
UFC president Dana White confirmed the news of Blanchard’s death on Twitter:
“Law Enforcement has confirmed to us that it is Aniah that they found,” White wrote. “I’m devastated to hear this news. I’m heartbroken for Walt and his family. Thank you everyone for the support including the local and state Alabama law enforcement, media, athletes, managers and fans.
“My condolences go out to everyone that was touched by Aniah’s story and tried to help bring her home.”
Law Enforcement has confirmed to us that it is Aniah that they found.

The search for Aniah Blanchard has seemingly come to an unfortunate end as human remains believed to be hers have been found.
The remains were found in Macon County with District Attorney Brandon Hughes revealing that there is good reason to suspect that it is hers.
“I can confirm that human remains have been found and we have good reason to suspect they are that of Aniah Blanchard,” said District Attorney Brandon Hughes to News 3 (via CBS 42).
According to CBS 42, Blanchard’s family has been notified.
The 19-year-old stepdaughter of UFC heavyweight Walt Harris was missing since late last month, having last been seen in a gas station in Auburn, Alabama. Officials suspected foul play at the time.
Ibraheem Yazeed, 29, was arrested earlier this month and charged without bond for kidnapping in the first degree. Last week, a second suspect in Antwain “Squirmy” Fisher, 35, was also charged with kidnapping in the first degree. There is no information as of now as to how he is connected to the alleged kidnapping.
Following news of her disappearance, Blanchard’s vehicle was discovered with damage on the passenger side. One unidentified witness also claimed to have seen Yazeed “forcing Blanchard into a vehicle against her will and then leaving with her in the vehicle.”
