Our UFC Vegas 15 headliner is upon us. Promoted to the main event on just a single day’s notice, a five-round light heavyweight clash of one-time title challenger, Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith and Devin ‘Brown Bear’ Clark close out tonight’s UFC Apex showcase.
Round 1: An aggressive start from Clark who forces Smith back to the fence, before the latter counters with a takedown of his own. Giving up his back in the center of the Octagon, Clark defended well, and ultimately reversed position, winding up in Smith’s full-guard. Attempting a triangle from guard, submission-ace Smith scores the tap, returning him to the winner’s enclosure after a two-fight skid – forcing a grinding halt to Clark’s two-fight rise in the process.
Official Result: Anthony Smith def. Devin Clark via first-round (2:34) submission (triangle)

Anthony Smith is set to square off against Devin Clark next month according to a report from MMA Junkie, it reads:
“On Thursday, two people with knowledge of the situation told MMA Junkie that Clark (12-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) and Smith (32-16 MMA, 8-6 UFC) have agreed to fight on Nov. 28 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The people requested anonymity because the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.”
Clark was originally scheduled to face Shamil Gamzatov at the same event but the undefeated Russian was forced off the card due to visa issues. Clark won’t mind though after being matched up with one of the most high-profile names at 205lbs. The 32-year-old is in great form as of late, winning three of his last four fights. Last time out Clark scored an upset victory over the previously unbeaten Alonzo Menifield to stretch his current win streak to two. He’ll be hoping to propel himself into the light-heavyweight title picture by beating ‘Lionheart’ next month.
Smith is not enjoying the best of times recently. He suffered a gruesome TKO defeat to Glover Teixeira in May and was most recently outpointed by Aleksandar Rakic last month that saw him enter a two-fight losing streak. Despite his setbacks, Smith is still ranked No. 8 in the light heavyweight rankings and a tough night’s work for the vast majority of fights in the division.

Johnny Walker is only targeting the top of the light heavyweight division now.
Walker returned to the win column following a first-round knockout win over Ryan Spann on the UFC Vegas 11 main card. Despite facing adversity early on in what was a back-and-forth fight, the Brazilian was able to earn the knockout after some devastating elbows on Spann.
As a result, Walker ended a two-fight losing streak that saw him suffer setbacks against Corey Anderson and Nikita Krylov. His goal now? Climb up the division by facing fighters ranked above him.
Former title challenger Anthony Smith is one fighter he particularly earmarked as a potential opponent.
“Maybe Anthony Smith, or anyone who is above me in the ranking,” Walker said in the UFC Vegas 11 post-fight press conference (via BJ Penn). “I don’t like to fight with a Brazilian, but if I have to fight, we fight.”
Smith is not enjoying the best of times recently.
He suffered a gruesome TKO defeat to Glover Teixeira in May and was most recently outpointed by Aleksandar Rakic last month that saw him enter a two-fight losing streak.
Despite his setbacks, he is still ranked No. 8 in the light heavyweight rankings and it’s no surprise to see why No. 11-ranked Walker is interested in facing him next.
