Trevor Bozniak

47-year-old Bare Knuckle FC debutant Trevor Bozniak showcased elite toughness in his first appearance inside the ring.

On Saturday in Edmonton, Bozniak and his opponent, Kayden Giroux, squared off on the BKFC Prospect Series card. Both sides were looking to earn the attention of David Feldman and secure a full-time spot on the promotion’s ever-growing roster.

Just seconds into the fight, Giroux landed a massive right hand that dropped Bozniak to the canvas. As Bozniak collapsed, his ankle twisted awkwardly and fully dislocated. The referee then stopped the fight, but he then put his ankle back into place in an attempt to keep fighting.

Trevor Bozniak Snaps Ankle at BKFC Prospect Series Event

Watch Bozniak put his dislocated ankle back into place mid-fight below.

Bozniak took the loss, officially, but he could potentially be re-invited to BKFC after the injury. As for Giroux, the 6-2 amateur boxer earned his first victory in the bare-knuckle ring.

BKFC has featured many twists and turns since its inception, aside from Bozniak’s injury and self-repair. In recent years, former UFC standouts such as Mike Perry, Paige VanZant, and John Dodson have appeared inside the ring.

The BKFC Prospect Series is similar to the UFC’s Dana White’s Contender Series. Fighters like Bozniak and Giroux invited to the series compete for slots on the BKFC active roster.

As of this writing, it’s uncertain if Bozniak’s dislocated ankle was a reaggravation of a previous injury. In either case, his toughness can’t be questioned as he continues his BKFC pursuits.

Former UFC scrapper Mike Perry has promised fans violence as he heads into his second Bare Knuckle Boxing bout against Michael Page on Aug.20.

The Bellator welterweight contender clashes with Perry in next weekend’s main event at Wembley Arena, which marks the organization’s first trip to the UK. The fight announcement came as a shock to many considering Page’s last contest was for Bellator gold, and the thirty-five-year-old has never fought in bare-knuckle. Perry, on the other hand, left victorious on his BKFC debut in February vs. Julian Lane.

In the lead-up to fight night, Perry has been sending Page warnings and is adamant he doesn’t know what he’s let himself in for stepping between the ropes. Despite the threats, Perry has shown his respect for the talented striker but questions his toughness when it comes to the viciousness of BKB.

Mike Perry Talks MVP BKFC Fight

“I want to see what happens when I do connect with you and I do get some cuts on your face. I want to see what happens then,” Mike Perry said when faced off with Mike Perry in the BKFC press conference

Although never competing in the sport, Page shrugged it off and dismissed Perry’s doubt, stating: “It won’t happen”.

There is no question about Perry’s shear heart and durability when inside the ring or Octagon. Fans enjoy watching the gangster-like style he brings into battle with him. During his twenty-two professional fights, Perry was only stopped once by strikes, which gave him a bucket full of confidence leading into Aug.20.

“You slippery little snake boy. I’m coming after you. I’m coming for you. You should be worried, MVP. I’m a psychopath,” Perry screamed into the camera.

As it stands, Page has signed to BKFC on a one-fight deal and has aspirations of returning to Bellator after the fight, having previously fallen short in his last outing to Logan Storley at Bellator 281 for interim gold. Page addressed the mixed reactions he got from the fighting community after diving head first into BKB.

“I get a lot of different types of reactions when I’m telling people,” Page said. “Even now, it’s been announced for a little while and people are still like ‘are you actually doing this?’. Similar to MMA when it first came through, people just saw it as barbaric. They didn’t see the skill and level of commitment that athletes had, it’s the same with bare-knuckle now. People have a negative appeal about initially.”

Former UFC heavyweight Greg Hardy has signed with Bare Knuckle FC and is expected to make his promotional debut later this year.

Hardy parted ways with the UFC earlier this year following a UFC 272 first-round TKO loss to Sergey Spivak. Before that, he lost fights to the likes of top contender Tai Tuivasa and veteran Marcin Tybura.

BKFC announced the news of Hardy’s signing on Wednesday.

“I’m excited to start working with Greg,” BKFC president Dave Feldman said of Hardy in a statement to MMA Junkie. “He’s a tremendous athlete with quickness and incredible strength, as he’s shown in the UFC and NFL.

“He wants to test himself in bareknuckle and has been training for a fight for the last couple of months. Heavyweight is one of our deepest divisions and his skill set fits right in. We’ll announce the date, location, and his opponent shortly.”

Hardy will make his professional boxing debut on Oct. 8 for Black Sheep Boxing promotions in Delray Beach, FL.

Hardy made the move from professional football to MMA following an NFL career with the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys. He made the Pro Bowl and was named NFL second-team All-Pro in 2013.

Hardy made the move to MMA with back-to-back wins on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2018. After a fight against Rasheem Jones in Xtreme Fight Night, he would make his debut in Jan. 2019, losing via disqualification after throwing an illegal knee.

Hardy would go on to pick up wins over the likes of Yorgan De Castro and Maurice Greene during his time in the Octagon. He was known as a knockout artist and will look to replicate his success with his hands in BKFC.

Bare Knuckle FC President David Feldman has announced that Triller has purchased a majority stake in his promotion.

Feldman announced the news during a recent interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour (h/t MMA Fighting).

“We grew this thing to a point where we thought that we got it as far as we could take it by ourselves right now,” Feldman said of BKFC. “We’ve overcome so many obstacles and so many people telling us no and, ‘this will never happen, you’ll never make it work.’ And we got to a point where we’re pretty well accepted among the combat sports community right now, and we needed to make a partnership that was going to take us to the next level, create more opportunities, more resources, more funding, more things like that to acquire some more fighters, take care of the fighters that are already there, and just create more opportunities for everybody.

“So we have entered into an agreement to have the majority stake of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship be acquired by Triller Verzuz. So Triller will acquire the majority stake in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, like I said, to allow more opportunities, more resources, more funding, just everything that we really need to vie for that No. 1, No. 2 spot in combat sports.”

BKFC has most recently hosted their KnuckleMania 2 event, featuring a matchup between former UFC fighter Mike Perry and former The Ultimate Fighter standout Julian Lane. Other former UFC fighters such as Paige VanZant and Chad Mendes have also signed with the promotion.

Triller expanded into fight promotion back in 2020, with their first event featuring a boxing exhibition between legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. Former UFC champions Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz have also competed for Triller in recent months.

What is your reaction to the BKFC-Triller ownership merge?
