Belal Muhammad has worked hard to earn his #5 ranking in the UFC’s welterweight division, but there were times on the way up where he questioned his employer’s intentions.

“Remember the Name” joined former UFC fighter-turned-comedian Brendan Schaub on a recent edition of Schaub’s Food Truck Diaries Youtube series. When they weren’t sampling Mexican food, the two discussed Muhammad’s UFC career and current run of success.

When Schaub pointed out how difficult Muhammad’s last few opponents have been, the 33-year-old admitted to feeling the UFC might be out to get him with his last fight against Vicente Luque.

“That was the fight where I was like, ‘Man, does the UFC hate me?’ Muhammad said about the matchup. “I was like, they have to have something against me. You know, you give me Maia, I beat Maia. One of the best grapplers to have ever fought in the UFC. Then you give me Wonderboy, who’s one of the best strikers to have ever fought in the UFC. Then you’re like, ‘All right well dang, he got past those two. Lemme give him somebody that knocked him out.’ Somebody that, one of the best finishers — I think — one of the best finishers in the welterweight division at all.”

The 33-year-old earned a five-round decision over Luque in their main event bout earlier this year. That fight was a rematch of their 2016 meeting, which Luque won via first-round knockout.

“Remember the Name” rebounded from that Luque loss with four-straight wins before losing a decision to Geoff Neal in 2019. He’s gone unbeaten through eight fights since then, winning every bout aside from a 2021 No Contest when Leon Edwards poked him in the eye.

With Edwards set to challenge welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, Muhammad is currently waiting for a matchup with one of the division’s remaining Top 5.

What do you think of Muhammad’s comments about the UFC’s matchmaking for his last fight?

Khamzat Chimaev appears ready to get back into the Octagon and has identified potential opponents for his next two fights.

Where exactly he’d be fighting remains an open question, but the undefeated welterweight took to Twitter to outline his preferred who and when for his next two bouts.

“August [Nate Diaz] October [Belal Muhammed]”

This tweet calling out Nate Diaz and Belal Muhammad follows previous tweets where “Borz” mentioned each fighter individually. The 28-year-old has gone back and forth with both Muhammad and Diaz following Chimaev’s win over Gilbert Burns at UFC 273.

Nate Diaz hasn’t fought since losing to Leon Edwards in 2021. The 37-year-old has appeared increasingly frustrated with both Chimaev and the UFC as he looks to finish his current contract with the promotion.

Muhammad is coming off a win over Vincente Luque and is seemingly a bit more comfortable waiting for Chimaev, as the 33-year-old is currently #5 in the UFC’s welterweight rankings.

If Chimaev is serious about the timing for these welterweight matchups, the UFC has three events set for August and two for October.

August currently has a scheduled Fight Night card in need of a main event, but it would also make sense to add a potential Chimaev vs. Diaz fight onto UFC 278 in Salt Lake City. That event on August 20 will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards.

UFC 281 on October 22 appears a likely candidate for a fight with Muhammad. The event will be in Abu Dhabi, where Chimaev has already contested three of his five UFC bouts.

Chimaev’s rise to UFC stardom been one of the fastest in recent memory. He joined the promotion in 2020 and quickly earned three stoppage wins in just over two months. “Borz” followed that hot start with a first-round finish of Li Jingliang in 2021 before earning a unanimous decision over Gilbert Burns at UFC 273.

The 28-year-old is currently the UFC’s #3-ranked welterweight contender.

What do you think of Chimaev’s callout of both Nate Diaz and Belal Muhammad?

Khamzat Chimaev Wants To Fight “Skinny Boy” Nate Diaz In August & Belal Muhammad In October

Khamzat Chimaev has scoped in on Nate Diaz as his next opponent.

The rising contender at welterweight has called for a matchup against Nate Diaz in August. Diaz has been on ice for exactly a year now since his last outing against Leon Edwards in June 2021. Chimaev has traded verbal jabs with the Stockton native who’s also reported to be on the last fight of his contract.

Khamzat Chimaev calls for a fight against Nate Diaz in August

‘Borz’ declared on Twitter that he’s ready and wants to take on Diaz in August.

“I want to fight in august, i’m ready @NateDiaz209 let’s do it skinny boy @danawhite? @ufc

Many have speculated UFC’s decision to not offer Diaz a bout considering he’s one of the biggest stars in the promotion. Prior talks regarding a potential match with Dustin Poirier were looking good but were shut down almost instantly after interest from the UFC died down.

Diaz had spoken in the past about Chimaev not being willing to fight him and expressed his frustrations at not getting the bout. Chimaev’s latest callout might add a new tale to their story.

Chimaev wants Belal Muhammad in October

Being the second-ranked contender in the division, a fight with fellow top-five ranked opponent Belal Muhammad could benefit Khamzat Chimaev more than an outing with Diaz when it comes to getting in the mix of title contention. There seems to be a healthy amount of mutual respect between the two as they verbally agreed to fight each other.

In a follow-up tweet, Chimaev laid out the timeline he sees fit for both matchups.

“August @NateDiaz209

October @bullyb170

Muhammad and Chimaev had talked about a fight in October in the past, and that too in Abu Dhabi considering the demographics behind the two. It’s unclear if Chimaev is willing to wait till October if he doesn’t get a shot at Diaz or if he’ll take on another opponent.

Surging UFC welterweight contenders, the undefeated, Khamzat Chimaev, and Belal Muhammad appear to have verbally agreed to an October matchup on ‘Fight Island’ in Abu Dhabi, UAE – with the duo engaging in a back-and-forth on Twitter.

Chimaev, the current #3 ranked welterweight contender, managed to land his fifth UFC victory back in April on the main card of UFC 273 in Jacksonville, Florida – defeating one-time title challenger, Gilbert Burns over the course of three, hard-fought rounds in a the event’s Fight of the Night.

As for Muhammad, the Chicago-born wrestling ace managed to avenge a November 2016 first round knockout defeat to Vicente Luque in a UFC Vegas 51 also in Apri, successfully landing his third straight victory since an official ‘No Contest’ against Leon Edwards, as well as scooping the #5 rank at welterweight.

In the time since his victory over Burns, Chimaev has been linked to a slew of potential matchups, including a rebooking against the aforenoted, Edwards, as well as a title-eliminator against former interim gold holder, Colby Covington, however, neither fight have so far come to fruition.

Khamzat Chimaev and Belal Muhammad publicly float a UFC 281 clash in Abu Dhabi, UAE

Issuing a call out to Muhammad over Twitter, Chimaev and the Illinois native both agreed to fight “for Palestine”.

“I will fight you if you don’t take the Palestinian flag into battle @bullyb170 (Belal Muhammad),” Khamzat Chimaev tweeted.

“Respect bro…,” Belal Muhammad tweeted. “I’ll bring a flag for you too and we both fight FOR Palestine… I can’t bring the flag down to battlefield anymore even if I wanted to. But ??? ???????.”

Offering to fight Muhammad before the close of this year, Chimaev suggested an Abu Dhabi, UAE outing in October – with the promotion set to land in the Middle East for UFC 281 in the final week of the month.

“October, Abu Dhabi,” Khamzat Chimaev tweeted

In response to the AllStars MMA staple, Belal Muhammad tweeted, “Deal.”

UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev has responded to Belal Muhammad’s repeated callouts for a fight in the Octagon.

Muhammad and Chimaev are both vying for a welterweight title shot shortly. Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is expected to face Leon Edwards next, but he’s been sidelined due to a hand injury.

Chimaev has been antsy for the UFC to book him his next opponent. He may have a willing adversary in Muhammad after the two 170lbers went back-and-forth on social media.

In a recent tweet, Chimaev hinted at interest in a fight with Muhammad after previous callouts.

“I will fight you if you don’t take the Palestinian flag into battle [Belal Muhammad],” Chimaev tweeted.

Muhammad was born to Palestinian parents and raised in Chicago, IL. After seeing Chimaev’s tweet, Muhammad promptly responded.

“Respect bro,” Muhammad replied to Chimaev. “Il bring a flag for you too and we both fight FOR Palestine.. I can’t bring the flag down to battlefield anymore even if I wanted to. But…”

The UFC recently began banning fighters from bringing flags from their native countries into the Octagon. This was met by uproar from many UFC fans and fighters, especially those looking to bring awareness to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Earlier this year, Muhammad accused Chimaev of turning down a fight with him, but it appears that the two sides may be on the same page.

Chimaev went on to propose a specific timeframe for a fight with Muhammad.

“October Abu Dhabi,” Chimaev tweeted.

Muhammad then agreed.

“Deal,” Muhammad replied.

Chimaev and Muhammad are both coming off of impressive wins in the welterweight division. Chimaev passed the biggest test of his career against Gilbert Burns at UFC 273, while Muhammad has earned recent wins over Vicente Luque and Stephen Thompson.

It’s unclear if the UFC will move forward with a Chimaev vs. Muhammad fight, but there seems to be some intrigue in a matchup taking place between the two welterweights.

UFC welterweight contender Belal Muhammad didn’t hesitate to hit back at Sean Brady after accusing him of dodging a fight.

Muhammad and Brady are both awaiting their next opponents following recent impressive wins. Brady defeated Michael Chiesa last November, while Muhammad put on a dominant performance against Vicente Luque in April.

But the two rising 170lbers may be on a collision course after Brady and Muhammad went at it on social media.

In a recent tweet, Brady encouraged Muhammad to agree to a fight with him and to stop ignoring the UFC’s alleged calls.

“I know the ufc is calling. pick up the [phone] and agree to the fight. Nowhere to run now. I am coming for you,” Brady tweeted at Muhammad.

Shortly after Brady’s tweet, Muhammad hit back and expressed interest in other opponents.

“Lol didn’t u pull out of our first flight clown who’s running,” Muhammad replied. “It’s funny u got twitter fingers now but went silent when [Geoff Neal] was calling ..there’s 4 guys above me without a fight I’m tryin to fight.”

Brady has been itching for a fight in recent months, having recently called out Stephen Thompson. However, Thompson has allegedly declined a fight with him and is looking at other options.

Muhammad and Brady are looking to move one win closer to the welterweight title picture and could potentially come face-to-face if the UFC opts to pair them up.
