CHICAGO, Ill. (September 15, 2010) – Bellator Fighting Championships today officially announced a September 30 Season 3 Women’s semi-final fight between explosive striker Zoila “The Warrior Princess” Frausto and top submission specialist Jessica “Jag” Aguilar at Bellator 31, taking place at L’Auberge du Lac Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
“Zoila and Jessica were both very impressive in their quarterfinal wins, so fans should expect a great fight between these two fast-rising stars in women’s MMA,” said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Whoever is eventually crowned Bellator Women’s Champion, they will have certainly earned that title.”
To get to this point, both Frausto and Aguilar faced tough competition in the Bellator quarterfinals. “The Warrior Princess” made her way to the final four at Bellator 25 when she faced the previously undefeated Jessica Pene, who entered the fight holding a perfect 7-0 record. After three rounds of punishing Pene with a wide range of strikes, Frausto was not only awarded a 30-27 unanimous decision victory, but the fight against Aguilar in the semi-finals.
Making her Bellator debut in the Season 3 opener in Hollywood, Fla., Aguilar squared off against Lynn “Lights Out” Alvarez in quarterfinal action. An overmatched Alvarez had no answer for the dangerous submission arsenal of Aguilar, who finished the fight in the first round with an air-tight arm-triangle choke to move onto the semi-finals at Bellator 31.
Aguilar knows the chance to become the first Bellator Women’s Champion is within reach, and is ready for the challenge.
“Becoming the first Bellator Women’s Champion is very important to me,” said Aguilar. “This has been my dream since I started my MMA career, and this is the opportunity to make it all come true. I want to leave my legacy as the first-ever Bellator Women’s Champion.”
Frausto holds similar beliefs, and has her sights set on becoming champion.
“Winning this tournament would be a dream come true,” said Frausto. “Winning this tournament would make me the best of the best, and I want that more than anything in the world right now and will do anything in my power to accomplish that.”

Former UFC lightweight star, and current Bellator fighter, Roger Huerta (21-4-1) isn’t worried about titles, as much as he’s worried about rankings when he steps into the cage against Bellator lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez.
Both men will square off on the upcoming Bellator 33 event in a non-title “Super Fight” on Oct. 21 at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Penn.
Huerta, who is 1-3 in his past four fights, and is coming off a loss to Pat Curran in the season two lightweight tournament semi-finals. Don’t let his recent record fool you, the loss to Curran was a shocker to many, but his other losses were to two very tough opponents in Gray Maynard and Kenny Florian.
Huerta sees this upcoming fight as a make it or break it moment for him, as he feels, he is facing one of the top three lightweights in the world.
“I put him (Alvarez) in top three for sure…I really don’t care about the title. For me it’s just getting back up there on the rankings.”
“You just can’t hold anything back (when facing Alvarez). You obviously saw what happened to Josh Neer and the other opponents he’s faced. But again, he is human, and he is beatable. The things that we’re working on, we’re going to have to take him out of his comfort zone to win…”
“It’s here, it’s here now,” Huerta said. “It’s been like I’ve been given another chance and it’s one of those things like, ‘Alright, this is it. This is for all the marbles. You probably won’t ever, ever get a chance like this again.’”
Huerta was a guest on ‘The MMA Hour’ over at MMAFighting.com on Monday to talk about his upcoming Bellator Fighting Champinships fight.

Bellator Fighting Championships is looking to give Bryan Baker (13-2) and Jeremy Horn (86-19-5) a chance to enter the mix for a middleweight title shot with the announcement that both men will meet at Bellator 30.
Bellator 30 is set for Sept. 23 at the Fourth Street Live! in Louisville, Kentucky.
_____________
CHICAGO, Ill. (September 7th, 2010) – Bellator Season 2 Middleweight Semifinalist Bryan “The Beast” Baker will face off with dangerous MMA veteran Jeremy Horn at Bellator 30 as Bellator Fighting Championships returns to Fourth Street Live! on September 23rd from Louisville, Kentucky.
After suffering the first TKO loss of his career, Baker is ready to make his return to the Bellator cage. Impressive victories over Sean Loeffler and Eric Schambari put Baker in the Bellator Season 2 Middleweight Tournament Finals and a win away from having the chance at the Middleweight Championship. Knockout specialist Alexander “Storm” Shlemenko was the only fighter standing in Baker’s way, and the hard-hitting Russian proved too much for Baker to handle, as Shlemenko delivered a first round TKO ending Baker’s tournament run.
“The whole goal was to have a shot at the title, and I didn’t get to that point, so obviously there is disappointment,” said Baker. “I didn’t get much of a chance to show my abilities in that fight, but I’m excited I get another chance in Louisville to give the fans a good show.”
The chance Baker is referring to is at Bellator 30 when he battles one of MMA’s most experienced fighters in Horn on September 23rd in Louisville, Kentucky. Horn, a veteran of over 100 fights since his professional career began in 1996, has fought MMA legends including Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Dan Severn, Frank Shamrock and Anderson Silva. Horn holds impressive victories over the likes of Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, Chael Sonnen and others during his decorated fighting career.
Baker is well aware of the experience the battle-tested Horn brings to the cage, but hopes to use it to his advantage.
“Knowing who Jeremy has taken on, it just makes me even more focused for this fight. Fighting an opponent with a history like that, it pulls the better fighter out of me, and I’m excited for Bellator 30,” said an eager Baker. “Everyone knows Jeremy has made his career off of his submission moves, so I’m looking to stay on my feet. I’m more athletic than him, and my reach should give him all sorts of problems.”
For Horn, the longtime MMA mainstay sees the landscape of the sport changing in front of his eyes, and realizes that his vast amount of experience isn’t as valuable as it once was.
“As the sport progresses on, my experience starts to mean less and less in the ring,” said Horn. “I obviously have a good understanding of when to stay calm and when to turn things on, but for the most part, I feel like a lot of us are on a pretty level playing field. With a guy like Bryan, he is a well rounded fighter that doesn’t have a lot of weaknesses, and it’s just going to be a great fight.”
Not surprisingly, Baker and Horn aren’t the only ones looking forward to the matchup.
“Bryan was the favorite going into our Season 2 Middleweight Tournament, and deserves another high caliber fight to put him right back in the mix,” said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Jeremy Horn will be a perfect test for Bryan, and fans should be looking forward to a great fight.”
Tickets for the event – which will also be broadcast LIVE nationwide on FOX Sports Net along with action-packed highlight shows that will air on NBC Saturday nights – are on sale now at ticketmaster.com
