Conor McGregor’s pal Dillon Danis was recently sent packing by Jake Shields on social media because of an attempt to troll the longtime veteran.

But while he was raked over the coals for it, he won’t give up on calling anyone and everyone out on social media thanks to his brash and outspoken style.

Such was the case this early this morning. Danis decided to troll Khabib Nurmagomedov using the ’10-year challenge’ craze going around on social media (via MMA Mania):

Khabib didn’t even have to fire back. Twitter account MMA TEAM DAGESTAN, which often posts news about Nurmagomedov, trolled Danis right back as a result:

And of course, you can’t forget this classic:

Brutal. It appears that Danis has been owned online yet again due to his nonstop trash talk. He was the catalyst for the post-fight brawl at UFC 229. Danis, Khabib, and McGregor are still awaiting their punishment.

Danis is making a ton of noise outside the cage thanks to his loud mouth, yet at some point he’ll have to back it up in the cage. From the looks of it, he might be better served doing that anyway.

Fedor Emelianenko has a tall task ahead.

He’ll challenge Bellator light heavyweight champion Ryan Bader for the promotion’s vacant heavyweight strap.

Emelianenko and Bader have found their way into the finals of Bellator’s Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament to crown a new champion. The pair will square off in the main event of Bellator 214 from The Forum in Inglewood, California on January 26th.

Speaking on a media call to promote the event, “The Last Emperor” had nothing but good things to say about his opponent’s ability inside the cage (via MMA News):

“Ryan Bader is an exceptional fighter, probably one of the most toughest and skilled guys of this tournament. He has a strong wrestling background, but it’s not easy to hit Ryan. He’s got very good defense and [I have to make sure I don’t get hit]. The rest we’ll see in the fight.”

Emelianenko earned his way into the finals of the tournament with a first-round TKO victory over Chael Sonnen. He defeated “The Bad Guy” at Bellator 208 back in October. As for Bader, he defeated Matt Mitrione with a dominant unanimous decision win at Bellator 207. Now, he’ll attempt to become a double champion in Bellator with a potential heavyweight title win.

However, to do so, he’ll have to get past one of the greatest heavyweights in the history of the sport.

Ryan Bader throws some shade at the current state of the UFC’s light heavyweight division. He did so while promoting his upcoming fight against MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko. The two fighters are slated to meet in the finals of the Bellator heavyweight tournament at Bellator 214.

Bellator MMA has signed a ton of former UFC stars through the rush of free agency in 2017 and 2018. Bader made it clear that he’s not holding his breath for the next import of new talent signings if this trend continues this year. That remains to be seen. In the eyes of Bader, he thinks that the UFC’s light heavyweight division is not very deep at all.

“I don’t feel the UFC’s light heavyweight division is very deep at all,” said Bader to MMAJunkie. “There’s a handful of guys they keep regurgitating to fight for the belt. There’s not too many to pull from there. Yeah, there’s always guys out there floating around, but I haven’t really thought about it too much. Bellator is doing a great job attracting these high-level guys, and that’s going to come with just a little bit of time.”

Bellator 214 is set to take place on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The preliminary card will air online at 7:00 pm EST while the main card will air on Paramount Network and DAZN at 9:00 PM EST. Bader continued by stating that he thinks the message to fighters has been sent loud and clear.

“The word’s getting out we’re treated well over here. To be able to have this (Bellator heavyweight) grand prix, and we saw Darrion Caldwell fight in Japan, and so that’s attractive to us.”

Chael Sonnen has long been known more for his outspoken trash talking expertise rather than his grappling skills.

In fact, he’s been susceptible to the tapout rather frequently throughout his decorated MMA career. Sonnen has lost 9 of his total 16 MMA losses by submitting. His most famous is, of course, his historic tap to Anderson Silva in the closing minutes of their all-time classic middleweight title fight at 2010’s UFC 117.

‘The American Gangster’ does have some strong submission wins of his own, however, and apparently he’s been training that part of his game significantly. So much so, in fact, that he was recently awarded his black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu by coach Fabiano Scherner at Gracie Barra in Portland, Oregon:

The former UFC title challenger has trained in grappling since his college days. He began training with the gi in 2014 and has apparently made quite the strides to earn his black belt.

Sonnen was last seen facing heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko in the semifinals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix. He was stopped via TKO in the final seconds of the first round. The loss snapped a two-fight winning streak for Sonnen. He defeated Quinton Jackson via decision to earn his spot in the Grand Prix semifinals after grinding out Wanderlei Silva in his second Bellator fight.

Overall, he’s gone 5-5 in his last 10 fights and 2-2 in Bellator.

Dillon Danis is known best for being Conor McGregor’s friend and training partner. Perhaps the distant second reason for his notoriety is due to his constant social media battles with various MMA personalities online.

However, one of those completely blew up in his face this weekend when he attempted to make fun of FloGrappling Submission Underground 4 opponent Jake Shields.

He posted a photo from their May 2017 submission-only match, which Shields won, and called Shields his “son”:

Shields did not take kindly to the troll, issuing a brutally vicious response for Danis:

Ouch. It’s tough to argue with Shields on all fronts. He may not be quite old enough to be Danis’ dad but he did beat him at his own sport of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. His suggestion about McGregor may be a stretch, but it’s clear Shields game in to this beef with his guns blazing.

Dillon responded to Shields’ clap back by threatening to knock him out in a tweet he later deleted:

So the gloves are off for another online war featuring Danis. He fights in Bellator MMA, yet no one ever seems to talk about his latest or next fight because of his skills. They do focus on how he’s involved with McGregor or his latest smack talk. If that eventually pans out for him remains to be seen.

He’s not half the star he claims to be just yet, so he may be best served avoiding attempts to troll fighters who beat him at his own game.
