Ariel Helwani

Ariel Helwani embraced his “Heelwani” side even more on Saturday by ending Dillon Danis on social media.

Danis mocked Helwani and called him a b*tch after the veteran MMA reporter showed support for Jake Paul and his challenge to UFC president Dana White.

That led to Helwani not holding back whatsoever as he proceeded to roast Danis.

“Guys if you think life sucks right now just think you could have begged for 3 years to fight an 0-0 YouTuber and 3 years later still not be popular enough or good enough to even be considered a worthy opponent for him. Imagine that. In other words, you could be @dillondanis.

“Hey guys follow me real quick and I’ll follow you back and pay you 1k. Ffs. Get a grip Dillon. Who acts like this?”

Helwani also poked fun at the fact that Danis said he would retire if Paul was ever able to sleep him like he did to Tyron Woodley. Danis, however, hasn’t competed in combat sports since June 2019.

“‘Hey guys if I lose to Jake I’ll retire.’ Retire from what? Social media? You already don’t fight.

“3…2…1 before ol DD texts me hey bro why don’t you like me? Like, I thought we were cool bro Can’t wait for the witty tweet reply, too. And then he’ll call for a truce and then ask me to RT his tweets every two seconds. What a pleasure.”

Helwani ended things by hoping Danis gets what he wants.

“Anyway. Maybe this will be the year he accepts your challenge Dillon!! I personally hope he does so you can leave us the f alone with your stupid tweets and lame social media skilllz Save us, @ScottCoker. The begging is unbecoming. Please. For the love of God save us.”

Ariel Helwani Comes Out On Top

Danis — who deleted the initial tweet calling Helwani a b*tch — has not responded as of yet and it’s hard to see how he does so without looking bad.

All in all, this looks like a win for Helwani.

Fedor Emelianenko

MMA heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko wants a title shot against Ryan Bader for his retirement bout, according to Bellator’s Scott Coker.

Emelianenko most recently made his return to the Bellator cage at the promotion’s Russia event in October. After a two-year hiatus, he knocked out former interim title challenger Tim Johnson less than two minutes into the fight with a barrage of punches.

Bader is slated to face interim champion Valentin Moldavsky for the title unification at Bellator 273. Depending on how things play out, Coker says Emelianenko could get the next title shot, as he’s allegedly already requested.

During a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Coker revealed a recent conversation with Emelianenko for his next, and more than likely last, appearance in the cage.

“That’s what Fedor asked me,” Coker said. “If Ryan Bader beats Moldavsky, I want Bader, that’s what he said. I’m going to give him some other options for the beginning of January and go from there. So we’re going to see how the fight plays out, and then make a business decision.”

Fedor Emelianenko Fell To Ryan Bader In 2019

Emelianenko lost to Bader back at Bellator 214 for the then-vacant heavyweight championship via first-round TKO. Many speculated that the Russian legend would retire following the loss, but he ended up taking a fight against Rampage Jackson later that year, earning a knockout.

Emelianenko is arguably the greatest heavyweight in MMA history, with a decorated record against some of the top names in the sport. He won 31 of his first 32 professional fights, including titles in Strikeforce and PRIDE.

Some in the MMA community, including former UFC champion Daniel Cormier, have called for Emelianenko to ride into the sunset after his knockout in his home country.

As of now, Emelianenko is the third-ranked Bellator heavyweight in the latest rankings, and a title shot next wouldn’t be too far-fetched. Depending on how things play out, we could see Bader and Emelianenko battle in the cage once again before ‘The Last Emperor’ calls it quits.

Yaroslav Amosov, Michael Page

Bellator is currently working to put flashy welterweight Michael “Venom” Page against champion Yaroslav Amosov for a card in London, England.

Bellator President Scott Coker revealed the plans in a recent interview with MMA Junkie. He mentioned he hopes to make the fight for early 2022, although an exact date hasn’t been worked out yet.

Coker said that Page was hesitant for a title fight, but eventually decided that he wanted the title fight. Page had publicly noted before that he preferred to face Douglas Lima – a fighter he just beat – in a trilogy bout.

“I know MVP was kinda back-and-forth, ‘do I want to fight Lima again, do I want to fight Amosov’ and then we said hey, just go think about it,” Coker said. “Our opinion as a company is you want to take the next step. You want to go fight for the belt now. This is your time. If you don’t do it now, when are you gonna do it? and then you can come back and fight Lima again in the future. So to me, it’s the right fight to put together. I think it’ll happen in the second quarter. It will be in London and it will be a massive fight over there because he’s such a big star.” (h/t MMA Junkie)

Page Getting Title Fight Following Important Win

Michael Venom Page

Page is being put in a title fight position for the first time in his career. He is also coming off arguably the biggest win of his career thus far.

Page is being put in the title fight after avenging the sole pro loss in his career. He recently defeated former champ Lima, beating him via split decision.

The potential fight could be Amosov’s first fight as the Bellator Welterweight Champion. He earned the belt in June, going five rounds against Lima for a decision win. The victory continued his flawless pro career that includes 26 wins as a whole and seven victories in Bellator.

Who would you pick in a fight between Yaroslav Amosov and Michael “Venom” Page?

Fedor Emelianenko Wants Ryan Bader Rematch For His Retirement Fight

Fedor Emelianenko

Fedor Emelianenko is hoping he’ll get the chance to avenge one of his losses before retiring from the sport of MMA.

The Russian fight legend wants to retire as the Bellator heavyweight champion but only if he is able to dethrone Bader who will face Emelianenko’s teammate Valentina Moldavsky in a heavyweight unification bout at Bellator 273 on January 29.

“That’s what Fedor asked me,” Bellator president Scott Coker told MMA Junkie. “He’s like, ‘If Ryan beats Moldavsky, I want to fight Ryan Bader.’ That’s what he said. I said, ‘Well, let’s talk about it and I’ll give you some other possibilities in the beginning of January, then let’s see how the fight unwinds and we’ll make a business decision, Fedor. How about that?’ And he said, ‘OK.’ And that was it.”

Emelianenko, 45, fell short in his lone crack at Bellator gold. ‘The Last Emperor’ suffered a 35-second TKO defeat at Bellator 214 in January 2019 when he first fought Bader. Emelianenko has a good record in rematches throughout his career and is confident he can top off his career by beating Bader and becoming a champion once again.

Fedor Emelianenko’s Retirement Fight Will Be Huge

Even if things don’t work out in the way Fedor hopes, Coker assures that he has big plans for former long-time PRIDE FC champion who he is determined to give a brilliant send-off.

“We have one more fight with him and we’re going to do something really big in Russia,” Coker said. “He deserves a king’s sendoff with the career that he’s had, and we’re going to give it to him.”

Emelianenko rolled back the years in 2021 when he sensationally knocked out Tim Johnson at Bellator 269.

Prior to that, he stopped Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson inside one round to bounce back from his loss to Bader.

Cris Cyborg Believes Amanda Nunes ‘Quit’ At UFC 269

Cris CyborgCris Cyborg is of the opinion that Amanda Nunes gave up during her bantamweight title fight with Julianna Pena at UFC 269 this past weekend. ‘The Lioness’ surrendered her 135lb title one of the biggest upsets in MMA history against Pena who scored a second-round submission win during the final UFC pay-per-view of 2021 Nunes […]

Cris Cyborg

Cris Cyborg is of the opinion that Amanda Nunes gave up during her bantamweight title fight with Julianna Pena at UFC 269 this past weekend.

‘The Lioness’ surrendered her 135lb title one of the biggest upsets in MMA history against Pena who scored a second-round submission win during the final UFC pay-per-view of 2021

Nunes has faced plenty of criticism for failing to perform despite being the -1000 favourite heading into the fight. Joe Rogan and Chael Sonnen have both publicly criticized the GWOAT for the manner of her defeat.

Cyborg is the latest MMA personality to call out Nunes after UFC 269. The Bellator featherweight champion thinks Nunes quit in the fight as she has done in previous bouts.

“You know, I was not surprised. I (picked) Julianna Peña because the five losses for Amanda Nunes, four were the same style as Julianna Peña,” Cyborg told Fanatics View. “And before, we knew Amanda Nunes danger is in the beginning, in the first round. If you pass the first round with her, you can get in the fight. We knew this. Of course, when you fight her, you go fire to fire and that happens, you know, what happened.

“We knew that when she goes past the first round, she sees she cannot finish you, so she’s either gonna run away or quit on the floor or something, and this is what happened for Julianna Peña.”

Cris Cyborg Says Julianna Pena Didn’t Have A Submission Locked In

“I don’t feel like Julianna did any sort of submission because she didn’t have a submission the way she finished the fight,” Cyborg said. “I feel like Amanda Nunes, at one point, she sees she cannot finish, and Julianna Peña continued going forward and she tapped, but (Peña) didn’t have any submission… I don’t know what was passing through her mind in the second round ’cause when you’re gonna fight for the title, you’re ready for seven rounds, and that was the second.

“I feel like Julianna did very good jabs. In the second round, Amanda wanted to finish the fight, to KO her as fast as she can, but Julianna was keeping her on the jab. The jab really opened a lot of doors for Julianna,” Cyborg continued. “The reality is when they stopped the fight, I didn’t think they’d finished the fight because she didn’t have a submission there, and I didn’t see the tap, too… I believe Amanda, I don’t know what passed through her mind there, but I believe she quit at that time.” (Transcribed by MMA News)
