The 30-1 boxer Billy Joe Saunders has denied allegations that he stabbed an individual after a street fight went south.

According to the father of the alleged victim at least one of his sons fought with Saunders. The dual-weight world champion is then accused of pulling a knife and stabbing Johnny Dunne in the hand. Saunders is also accused of carrying a firearm but refused to pull the trigger when pointing the weapon at the second son and/or third son Patrick, who was also involved in the confrontation.

“Billy Joe, you pulled a knife, you drived it straight through my son’s hand and out the far side,” The man in the video said to Billy Joe Saunders. “He had a better chance of being world champion boxer than you, god knows where his future’s gone now with the injury you give him in his hand. You drove a knife straight through his hand. You pulled a gun and you stuck it in my Patrick’s face. He told you to pull the trigger but you never had the balls. You never had the balls to pull the trigger.”

The man alleges that Saunders pulled weapons and three of his sons were involved, with one ending up in the hospital and two at the police station following the incident.

“You pulled your weapons, you got my sons arrested,” he added. “My two sons now, there’s one in hospital getting his hand fixed and the other two is up in the police station over ye for starting that fight in a public place.” (Transcribed by British Boxing News)

After hearing of the story circulating on social media, Billy Joe Saunders issued a statement on Instagram. Saunders categorically denies all of the claims made by the accuser. In addition, Saunders’ statement indicates that he won’t discuss the matter further since ongoing litigation is more than likely next.

Super-middleweight world boxing champion Billy Joe Saunders has apologised for posting an ill-advised joke video in which he teaches men how to beat women.

The video posted by Saunders was clearly intended to be funny but massively missed the mark. In the clip, he is seen hitting a punching bag and telling his viewers this is what to do if your wife is annoying you during the lockdown.

After receiving backlash for posting the video Saunders took to Twitter to apologise to anyone who may have been offended by the video, he said.

“I would never condone domestic violence and if I saw a man touch a woman I would smash him to pieces myself I have a Daughter and if a man laid a finger on her it would be end well. Apologies if I offended any women stay blessed x.”

Eddie Hearn who promotes Saunders has since come out and slammed his fighter for posting such a disgraceful video, he told TalkSport. “I was appalled really. It was so idiotic, it was so frustrating because I know Billy well. It’s one step forward, four steps back with Billy Joe Saunders and it is frustrating.

“You just can’t do it,
especially when you’re in your position. It’s unacceptable for Joe Bloggs down
the street to do it. It’s much more unacceptable for a world champion boxer to
be doing it.

“Thinking you’re having a laugh, or not having a laugh, young people are watching that video. People who are in abusive relationships are watching that video. You cannot do it, it’s unacceptable.” (Transcribed by Sky Sports)

This is not the first time Saunders has found himself in hot water for his actions on social media. In 2018 Saunders was fined £100,000 by the British Boxing Board of Control for posting a video in which he tells a woman he will give her £150 worth of drugs to perform a sex act.

The fight although not official was due to be publicly announced next week. It would have saw the 30-year-old four-weight champion vying to win his first ‘proper’ belt in the 168lb division. The Mexican fighter previously fought and stopped another Brit in Rocky Feilding for a secondary title at the weight in 2018.

Due to the ongoing disruption
to sporting events caused by the Corona Virus pandemic boxing promotion
Goldenboy and streaming giants DAZN are assessing if the Canelo-Saunders fight will
still go ahead as planned.

Per BoxingNews24 if the fight is unable to take place on May 2, Saunders is unlikely to get the fight at a later date. That is because the sports broadcasters are hoping to see Canelo complete his trilogy with long-time rival and middleweight standout Gennady Golovkin in September. Whilst the biggest star in boxing is also believed to be scheduled to fight Ryota Murata in latter stages of 2020 or in the first quarter of 2021.

This news comes one day after Goldenboy CEO Oscar De La Hoya announced the cancellation of two of his shows scheduled for this month – including the fight between top prospect Vergil Ortiz and Samuel Vargas. In a statement to TV partner DAZN the legendary boxer turned promoter said.

“This
morning, we were informed by the California State Athletic Commission that all
combative sports events have been cancelled for the month of March due to
concerns regarding COVID-19,” Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy
said in a press release on the cancelations. “Therefore, our March 19 and March
28 events, which were scheduled at Avalon Hollywood and the Forum respectively,
have officially been postponed. We will work with state and local officials as
well as our venue and broadcast partners to determine the best course of action
with respect to these and other upcoming events, both in California and
elsewhere.”

“The health and safety of our fighters, fans, employees, officials and partners is of the utmost importance to us, and we thank them for their support and understanding during this time. We will communicate further plans when the time is appropriate.”

The long-awaited rematch between YouTube stars, KSI and Logan Paul is now official.

They first fought on Aug. 25, 2018, where they fought to a draw in KSI’s home country of England. Now, they will run it back at the Staples Center and they will do so as professional fighters. It will be the first time either will fight as a pro.

The event will be put on by Eddie Hearn and shown exclusively on DAZN. While undefeated, Billy Joe Saunders defends his title on the undercard. For Hearn, he knew them being professional was something that needed to happen if he did promote this event.

“13 months ago when the first fight took place I smirked and pondered how embarrassing it would be to stage this event in a 20,000 seater arena,” said promoter Eddie Hearn in a press release. “What I saw was a phenomenon; a sold out arena, over one million PPV buys but more importantly an energy of a new audience to the sport of boxing.

“When I was asked to be involved in the rematch it got me excited but I had some requests to help integrate the two audiences. I requested that both fighters turn professional and undergo the same medicals that any other fighter would. I asked that the fighters lose the headguards and use 10oz gloves, if we are going to do this then let’s do it properly.

“Both men obliged and now they prepare for war on November 9. This event will be huge, a World championship card beneath an event that will create a hype for boxing not seen in the US for a long time. Staples Center will be sold out and a new audience will join our great sport and tune in live on DAZN.”

For KSI, who had boxing experience TKO’ing Joe Weller, while Paul did not, the draw was disappointing. Yet, he is confident going into this fight.

“Finally, after over a year since our rematch, I get to enter the ring once again to fight Logan Paul,” KSI said via a press release. “If I’m being honest, I didn’t fight well at all in the first fight, and even then, I still managed to draw against him.

“This time I won’t make it so close, especially now that it’s a pro fight, no head guards and 10-ounce gloves hahahaha, the time to end him is nearing. I can’t wait to see the memes of him slumped on the ground after I’ve repeatedly beaten the life out of him. He’s facing a different animal this time.”

As for Logan Paul, he has been training since the last fight and knows he has gotten better and says he can’t wait to dismantle his opponents face.

“I’m excited to ruin JJ’s face and I want to thank DAZN for giving me the platform to do so,” said Paul. “Last fight, KSI couldn’t beat me with only three months of training under my belt. For the past year, while JJ has been wasting his time trying to become a rapper, I’ve been training every single day. I’m finally getting what I wanted from the beginning — no headgear, 10-ounce gloves, and the opportunity to dismantle JJ’s repugnant face in Los Angeles, my home city.”
