Aaron Pico has shared some words of wisdom for Bo Nickal as he continues his impressive run following his transition to MMA.

Pico will return to the octagon at Bellator 286 as he looks to secure his eleventh win inside the promotion against Canadian fighter, Jeremy Kennedy.

Touted as a prospect himself upon his entry to Bellator, Pico himself is well aware of the added pressure that comes with others having such great expectations of you and therefore had some words of advice for his friend, Nickal.

Speaking to FanSided MMA, Aaron Pico was full of praise for the UFC prospect and reflected on the close relationship they shared throughout his wrestling journey.

“I love Bo Nickal, we were on three world teams together. I know him very well through wrestling. He’s a hard worker and comes from a really good family.”

Aaron Pico has spent his entire professional career competing inside the Bellator cage and therefore has acquired a wealth of experience for someone of 26 years of age. Taking from these experiences Pico encourages Bo Nickal to enjoy the moment but ensure he remains focused on the task at hand.

“Take your time. Enjoy the moment. Enjoy the process,” Pico said. “Just stay focused. I don’t think Nickal is not going to be focused. He has a really good team around him, but more importantly, he has a solid family.”

Aaron Pico expects greatness from Bo Nickal ahead of his UFC debut

Having put the MMA world on notice with two extremely impressive performances on Dana White’s Contender Series many people are excited to see just how high the ceiling is for the decorated former wrestler. Nickal was able to dispatch his first opponent in just over one minute following his appearance on DWCS back in August. He would then follow this up in the final week of this season’s contender series by submitting Donovan Beard in under a minute to continue the hype that is surrounding him.

Looking for a quick turnaround Bo Nickal is scheduled to face Jamie Pickett in his promotional debut at UFC 282 in December. Whilst the excitement continues to build ahead of his UFC debut Pico feels the respect Nickal is getting is more than warranted and he himself expects great things out of one of the hottest prospects to enter the UFC.

“I think he’s going to do great things,” Pico said. “I’m rooting for him and I hope he becomes a world champion.” (Transcribed by FanSided MMA)

Nickal will be one of the very few contender series alumni to jump straight onto a pay-per-view card following his performances but given how dominant he was, it should really come as no surprise. Should Nickal be able to defeat Jamie Pickett at UFC 282 just how quickly do you feel he will climb up the middleweight division?

Bo Nickal

Having penned his Octagon contract earlier this week, undefeated amateur wrestling phenom, Bo Nickal was the immediate subject of a call out from former welterweight title challenger, Darren Till, however, the former has questioned the Liverpool native’s stance on a fight, considering his recent skid.

Improving to 3-0 as a professional on Tuesday of this week, Colorado native, Nickal managed to submit Donovan Beard with a first round triangle off his back – turning in his second Dana White’s Contender Series victory.

Off the back of the victory, Nickal, a staple of American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida, penned a multi-fight deal with the UFC, and is set for an end-of-year debut at UFC 282 on December 10. against fellow middleweight Jamie Pickett.

However, following his standout victory over Beard, Nickal was the subject of a call out from Till, who claimed he would put his hand through the wrestling ace.

“Bo Nickal is looking good, be good to meet up with him in the future in the Octagon,” Darren Till tweeted. “Drive the left hand through his skull… (ninja emoji).”

Bo Nickal reacts to Darren Till’s comments earlier this week

Reacting to Till’s comments, Nickal pointed out the Team Kaobon staple’s recent, one-sided loss against divisional veteran, Derek Brunson – labelling his call out as “cute”, to boot.

“Darren (Till) – very, very cute,” Bo Nickal said during a video on Thiccc Boy Fight News. “I guess that’s my first impression. It’s a cute thing of you to say, having just gotten absolutely bodied by Derek Brunson, another wrestler, another grappler who is a tough dude.”

“I don’t know why you would say something like that, knowing what I could do to you,” Bo Nickal explained. “So, hopefully, we fight in the future and, hopefully, you’re ready, good luck.”

In the midst of a two-fight losing run, Till suffered a third round rear-naked choke loss to Brunson back in September of last year, which followed a 2020 decision defeat against former middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker.

Bo Nickal, Henry Cejudo, Khamzat Chimaev

Henry Cejudo has backed Bo Nickal to out grapple Khamzat Chimaev in a potential bout.

Nickal is coming off a dominant win over Donovan Beard at this past Tuesday’s Dana White Contender’s Series. He came out firing from the get-go in his second appearance in the show and secured another finish in under a minute without taking any damage.

The victory finally earned him a UFC contract from president Dana White, who only had the following words on his notes while watching the fight, “god damn.”

Henry Cejudo is ‘100 percent’ sure Bo Nickal can take down Khamzat Chimaev

During his post-fight interview, Nickal called out the top-ranked welterweight contender Chimaev for a bout. The hyped prospect has many believing he will wreak havoc in the promotion, and former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo agrees.

Bo Nickal says, ‘I want the Swedish princess, I want the guy that didn’t make weight. That’s the guy that I want.’ I just hope he shows up. It just shows his confidence,” Cejudo said (ht MMA Junkie). “Chimaev thinks he’s good in wrestling – his wrestling is nowhere near Bo Nickal, I can tell you that. “He can take down these UFC guys that have never wrestled. Try taking Bo Nickal down, and 100 percent I can see Bo Nickal easily taking down Khamzat Chimaev.”

Cejudo believes Nickal will surely be a champion

Cejudo is confident in what he has seen from Nickal so far and believes he will surely become a champion at 185-pounds.

“For those who don’t think Bo Nickal is the real deal, I’m going to tell you guys right now, as an Olympic champ, as a two-division champion, I don’t even wanna say prospect no more, I think it’s just pinning whenever this guy actually becomes champion at 185 pounds,” Cejudo said. “I think if you’re able to put him against Israel Adesanya now, just according to styles, Bo Nickal beats him. He puts him to his back, controls his wrists, grapples the heck out of him, and that’s all she wrote.”
