Jake Paul has a backup plan should Tommy Fury pull out of their upcoming clash on February 26, 2023, and that backup plans name is Mike Perry, former UFC star and current BKFC talent.

Paul announced the following in regards to his potential late replacement at the Beterbiev vs Yarde press conference:

“We have Mike Perry on standby. Let’s go, Mike Perry. He’s ready to jump in in case Tommy pulls out.”

Paul hasn’t had the best luck when it comes to opponents making the walk, as Fury has withdrawn from both previous bookings against him, and he also lost his fight with Hasim Rahman Jr last year.

Paul was slated to fight Fury in both 2021 and 2022.

The second time Fury pulled out Paul ended up fighting former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in their immediate rematch, and he was slated to face Rahman in August of last year, but ended up facing former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva a couple months later in October instead.

Both the Woodley rematch and Silva fights went well for him; his second fight with Woodley was relatively boring, but he was able to KO Woodley stiff this time, as the first time he won a split decision, and his fight with Silva was surprisingly an incredible back-and-forth war he won via unanimous decision.

But, events have been cancelled due to his opponents withdrawing from their scheduled bouts more than once, and this time he wants a backup so that doesn’t happen again.

Mike Perry is a great name for that second choice.

To fans, either Perry or Nate Diaz makes the most sense, and honestly, we thought we were past this point of Paul vs Fury.

However, Paul wants a boxer on his resume. He’s defeated three MMA world champions across four fights, Ben Askren (KO), Tyron Woodley twice (SD, KO), and Anderson Silva (UD), but the criticism seemingly never ends, as fans and combat athletes are always trashing his name for not fighting real boxers.

Well, he’s tried to, more than once. Fury is 8-0 as a professional boxer, and Rahman, a heavyweight mind you, was 12-1 as a professional.

Mike Perry opened up his MMA career with a record of 11-1 through his first 12 fights, all 11 wins via knockout.

Since then, he’d gone 3-7, bringing his record to 14-8.

However, though he’s 0-1 as a professional boxer, a fight that went down in 2015, since leaving the UFC, Perry has gone 3-0 in boxing matches. Two of which were bare knuckle bouts, and the other of which he defeated a 25-3 professional boxer where both men were wearing MMA gloves.

Do you think Tommy Fury shows up, or does Jake Paul end up facing Mike Perry next month in Saudi Arabia?

As we’ve all heard by now, Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury is a done deal for an event to go down next month on February 26, 2023, live in Saudi Arabia.

This is the third time these two have been booked opposing one another, as they were supposed to fight in 2021 and 2022, with Fury pulling out of the bout both times. But, now that they’ve signed another bout agreement to fight one another, February 26 has become a highly anticipated night in the sport of boxing.

Paul and Fury had a few words for one another tonight at the Artur Beterbiev vs Anthony Yarde event at the OVO Arena Wembley in London, England.

Fury opened up with: “I guarantee, I swear to god if it’s the last thing I do in boxing, you are over in four weeks. So enjoy the last few weeks of the so called boxer yeah. When I hit you on the chin, you’re gonna stay hit, believe me.”

Paul was then asked who has more to lose regarding this fight, and answered with: “Tommy has so much to lose his family is going to disown him when I knock him the fuck out. Plain and simple, that’s it. Sorry Tyson I love you but it’s over for your brother.”

That’s quite comical, considering Tyson said he’d disown his little brother if he didn’t ‘chin’ Jake Paul.

It looks like Fury is ready to fight, which is good, hopefully it means the fight will go through as planned this time.

If it does indeed happen this time around, who walks away the victor, Jake Paul or Tommy Fury?

YouTube star turned professional boxer Jake Paul has for the third time signed a bout agreement opposing WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury’s little brother, Tommy Fury, with the bout slated to go down from Saudi Arabia on February 26, 2023.

These two were expected to meet in both 2021 and 2022, Fury withdrawing from the contest both times. However, it’s just been made official once again, and it’s quickly become a highly anticipated night in the sport of boxing.

Paul just recently inked a deal with mixed martial arts promotion PFL as well, and is expected to compete in their new superfight division this year in 2023, but he has to take care of one more name in the boxing ring first.

What’s more, the price of this pay-per-view event is set at just $49.99, which is a far cry from other boxing PPV’s, and even the UFC’s PPV’s, with the price nearly cut in half.

There have been a number of Twitter account holders that expressed their interest in buying it, considering what a steal it is:

Jake Paul has made it to 6-0 with four knockouts thus far into his professional boxing career, 7-0 with five knockouts if you count his lone amateur win, while Fury has gone 8-0 thus far as a pro, securing four knockouts in that time.

Will you be buying Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury?

Luke Rockhold wants to fight Jake Paul, believes Tommy Fury pulls out agin

It appears former Strikeforce & UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold‘s retirement won’t last long, as he’s already itching to get another fight booked, and he’s targeting a boxing match with Jake Paul.

Rockhold recently did an interview with each Helen Yee and The Schmo for their YouTube channels.

First, we’ll get into what he told Helen Yee:

“I’d like to beat up all these little fucking punks that think they can box. Especially one in particular. Jake (Paul) would be fucking great. The UFC kind of released me just to go fucking hunt that kid down.

“I asked for the release, we were talking about after our boxing session at Churchhill (gym) with Pete Berg and he said, ‘Ah, yeah. I’ll ask Dana (White).’ And he said, ‘yeah, Luke can go fucking fight that kid. Go beat his ass.’ I said, ‘okay. I will.’ So, I was released to beat your fucking ass. The dog is here. The bounty man. The hitman. I’m fucking here. Answer the fucking call.”

Now we’ll quote what he said in his interview with Schmo:

“We all know Jake. You ain’t shit. We all know Tommy Fury ain’t gonna make it to the fight so I might as well just fucking skip around the gym and just be ready to fucking tap dance on that kid’s fucking face come Feb. 25.

Tommy Fury should just go box Dillon Danis. I think that’s the pullout match of all time. I show up to the fights, I do my thing. Otherwise, there’s opportunities everywhere. I’m ready to fucking fight. I’m just not ready to be locked into any contracts. I enjoy this freedom. The best is yet to come.”

It is good to hear Rockhold anticipating a return to combat sports, but boxing Jake Paul may not be what’s best for him in all honesty. He was always a kicker with relatively underdeveloped hands, though he did catch Paulo Costa with some good punches in their three round showdown back in August of last year.

And for Tommy Fury to fight Dillon Danis?

Danis wouldn’t even show up to fight KSI, there’s no way he’d show up to fight Fury. But, he may be right about Fury pulling out of his upcoming clash with Paul himself. If he were to do that, it’d be the third time he withdrew himself from a bout opposing Paul.

That being said, should Luke Rockhold serve as a backup to Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury?
