Things have started well for Next Gen, as Adam Cullen picks up another win for the Liverpool-based gym.
With Luke Riley and Liam Gittins both picking up impressive first-round finishes, the pressure was on Cullen to continue the trend. Surely in a short-notice fight, fighting up a weight class, there’s no way he could do it, right?
Of course he could. Cullen ran through Martin Causse. A blitz of strikes had Causse staggering back, before Cullen landed a double-leg takedown. After threatening with some rear naked choke attempts, Cullen would opt to use pure brute force to get his opponent out of there.
Trapping Causse’s hand with the iconic Dagestani handcuff, Cullen landed a storm of unanswered blows, eventually forcing the referee to step in and wave the fight off.
Next Gen only now needs a win from Molly McCann against Erin Blanchfield to have a 100% win streak tonight. Is another first-round finish on the cards?

Next Gen star Luke Riley continued his undefeated run at Cage Warriors 146. The teammate of Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann scored a clinical round 1 finish over Karol Kuty?a in the featured preliminary bout of the night.
Riley invested in the body early, landing jabs and hooks as he pressured his opponent around the cage. Kutyla was able to sneak in a flush high kick that may have taken the scouser by surprise. But when Riley decided to go for the KO, he could not miss. A clean hook sent Kutyla to the canvas, and a flurry of follow-up shots quickly finished the fight.
Riley could be seen celebrating with his Next Gen teammates in the aftermath, riding around on the shoulders of the enigmatic Paddy Pimblett.

In an electric matchup hidden in the prelims of Cage Warriors 146, two future superstars faced off, as Samuel Bark picked up an emphatic victory over an extremely dangerous opponent.
Akpan would start the first round strong, taking Bark to the ground and controlling with smothering top pressure. ‘Black Death’ would ride out much of the first round on top, threatening with rear naked choke attempts in a few scrambles. However, in the final minute of the fight, Bark turned the tables, reversing Akpan, and began to lay heavy ground and pound on his opponent.
A close round, but you’d likely have to give it to Samuel Bark based on damage.
Round 2 started with a flurry of strikes from both men. Akpan attempting several of his now iconic spinning attempts, whilst Bark stayed true to his muay thai roots, landing some thudding leg kicks. However, before either man could begin to pull ahead, the fight would once again hit the mat. Bark was quick to take control, landing some heavy shots. From this point on, Bark was relentless, pouring strikes down upon Akpan, even as the fight went back to the feet. Akpan eventually wilted, forcing the referee to step in.
