Bryan Battle has revealed his pick for the upcoming bout between Tresean Gore and Cody Brundage tonight.
Tresean Gore is set to take on Cody Brundage this Saturday at UFC Vegas 58 at the UFC Apex, Las Vegas, Nevada. Their bout will close out the preliminary card with both men coming in from a different direction.
Gore will be looking to get back to winning ways after dropping one in his most recent bout against Bryan Battle at UFC Fight Night 200 in February. It was a hard-fought contest with Gore getting the better of his adversary in the second round. The pair were initially scheduled to compete in the final of The Ultimate Fighter 29 but an injury kept “Mr. Vicious” out of the bout.
Meanwhile, Brundage has more momentum going into the fight off a win over Dalcha Lungiambula at UFC Fight Night 203 in March. He dropped one to Nick Diaz protege Nick Maximov in the prior contest and has gone 2-2 in his last four outings.
Bryan Battle predicts a finish for Tresean Gore v Cody Brundage at UFC Vegas 58
“Pooh Bear” cleared any remaining doubts after defeating Gore. The Ultimate Fighter winner proved that he earned the title by beating the man he was supposed to face on the show. Not only that, but Battle has also been in the cage opposite Brundage in an amateur MMA contest.
In an exclusive interview with LowKick MMA, Bryan Battle revealed his pick for the upcoming bout of Tresean Gore and Cody Brundage at UFC Vegas 58.
“My sons,” Battle said. “You talk about good matchmaking, that is excellent matchmaking because you’re going to get a lot of questions answered about both guys.
“It’s one of those things where, if Tre’s back hits the mat, his chances of winning go down dramatically and I’m not saying that because he has a bad ground game, I’m just saying that because that’s not what he’s the strongest in.
“Cody could grapple his ass off, I’ve been there. He definitely put me down and elbowed me in the face. The big thing is that Tre, his wrestling is a little undervalued I’d say which makes sense, he’s a knockout artist but his hips are so damn good. He’s so explosive so even if you get your hands locked around, he’ll be able to just kinda explode, and turn into you.”
Battle appears to be confident that Tresean will secure a knockout although he does have some questions that could swing the contest into Brundage’s favor.
“Honestly, I’m conflicted, I go back and forth but just off of my experiences I have a hard time not seeing Tresean getting the knockout. I definitely think he’s going to come back off of the fight with me and he’s going to have a different approach to the game and he’s not going to be as passive.
“Boxer wrestlers are kind of his best matchup, he matches up with boxer wrestlers better than someone like me who’s going to be gassing around and moving around. He’s going to come forward and definitely has a definitive advantage on the feet.”
Battle reveals the key factor in the fight
Having been in there with both athletes, Battle provided a first-hand breakdown of the matchup drawing from his personal experiences with the two.
“Once again, nothing against Cody,” Battle said. “Tre’s hands are a little bit different, I ain’t going to lie. I still beat him any day of the week but his hands are different. His wrestling is really good, his hips are really good. It’s going to be a simple game plan for Tre.
“What I see him doing is walking forward, putting pressure, not necessarily opening up too much but constantly threatening to throw bombs. If he gets Cody up against the cage, he’s going to throw bombs. If he can force Cody to shoot, that’ll be the deciding factor in the fight.
“He’s going to definitely try to pressure Cody to take a bad shot and if Cody takes a shot off the pressure and finishes it, that’s Cody all day. Cody’s going to maul him. But if Tre defends that first takedown, then I think it’s going to be a long night for Cody.”

Emerging UFC middleweight prospect, Cody Brundage has welcomed the opportunity to share the Octagon with the likes of Gerald Meerschaert, Eryk Anders, or veteran, Sam Alvey in the future should he defeat The Ultimate Fighter finalist, Treasen Gore at next month’s UFC Vegas 58 event.
7-2 as a professional, Brundage, an alum of both LFA and Dana White’s Contender Series – has suffered losses to the fellow emerging talents of Nick Maximoc, and William Knight – getting off the mark in the UFC with an eye-catching first round guillotine win against Dalcha Lungiambula back in March.
Slated to return beneath a high-profile lightweight main event between former undisputed champion, Rafael dos Anjos and the streaking, Rafael Fiziev on July 9. at the UFC Apex facility, Brundage draws the aforenoted TUF finalist, Gore – who dropped a tournament finale against Bryan Battle in his Octagon bow.
Cody Brundage lists a trio of potential future opponents with a victory at UFC Vegas 58
Previewing his upcoming Octagon outing at the beginning of July, Brundage admitted that bouts against division staples like Alvey, Meerschaert, or Anders most definitely interest him should he overcome Gore.
“You know, I wouldn’t mind fighting Sam Alvey,” Cody Brundage told LowKick MMA reporter, Frank Bonada this week. “I wouldn’t mind fighting Eryk Anders, I wouldn’t mind fighting Gerald Meerschaert – any of those guys – I’d consider them vets. They’ve been in the UFC a long time, they’ve proven a lot and they’ve done some really big things in the sport.
“I’m a fan of most of those guys but yeah, I would enjoy fighting any of them, I like that matchup,” Cody Brundage explained. “So yeah, there are some (some future matchups), for sure.”
Displaying his finishing poise in his second Octagon outing against the above mentioned, Lungiambula, Brundage, who boasts a 7-2 record – has been forced the distance just once from those seven victories, defeating three opponents with strikes, and a further three with varying submission successes.

UFC bantamweight prospect Song Yadong and light heavyweight Khalil Rountree earned $50k for their performances at UFC Vegas 50.
Yadong seized his moment in the UFC Vegas 50 co-headliner against former title challenger Marlon Moraes, knocking him out with a vicious uppercut in the first round. He has now won three straight and appears to be on the verge of a top 10 spot.
Yadong is a protege of MMA legend Urijah Faber down at Team Alpha Male.
Yadong wasn’t the only one who shut the lights out on his opponent. Rountree overcame a slow start against Karl Roberson to blitz him with a barrage of strikes in Round 2.
Rountree landed a stiff body kick along with a series of hooks that sent Roberson collapsing to the canvas.
In one of the most miraculous in-fight comebacks in recent memory, UFC middleweight Cody Brundage survived a near TKO finish from Dalcha Lungiambula to choke him out with a guillotine. He sunk in the choke by allowing Lungiambula into his guard off of a takedown attempt.
Murzakanov is a former Dana White’s Contender Series standout and could be a light heavyweight to watch in 2022.
Yadong, Rountree, Brundage, and Murzakanov all cashed in a $50k post-fight bonus check and will look to continue their positive momentum later in 2022.
