Tony Ferguson hoping for an odd finishing in the upcoming lightweight title fight between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

This probably isn’t what the fans, media, fighters or the Las Vegas-based promotion want to see in such a huge fight. However, there is one person who hopes to see an interesting finish to this fight.

That man is Ferguson.

Tony Ferguson Hoping

Ferguson is also fighting on this card as he will take on former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis in the co-main. In a recent interview, Ferguson made it known that he’s hoping to see a double knockout in this title bout.

“Double knockout,” Ferguson said today at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas (H/T to MMAJunkie).“I’m going to keep saying it the whole time. I want these dudes to knock each other out. You talk enough (expletive) – (expletive) it, man. Go out there and squash that (expletive).”

Reasoning

Ferguson stated that this is a man’s sport and that they are trying to clean it up. The fight’s buildup does not impress him

“This is a man’s sport. We’re trying to clean this (expletive) up. We’ve got these two knuckleheads going out there making an ass out of themselves, so whatever. You want me to cut a promo? You’re talking to the wrong guy.”

The UFC 229 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Focus

The former interim champ also stated that he intends to stay completely focused on the task in front of him, which is to fight Pettis.

“Anthony Pettis – that’s who the focus is,” Ferguson said. “That’s who the focus is always going to be. I’m not going to change my story. Everyone wants to look toward the future. I’m going to look right now. Enjoy it.”

Dana White Says UFC 229 Is Trending Close To 3 Million Buys

According to White, this event is going to be much bigger than expected.

Dana White says UFC 229 is trending to become such a big event that is could do close to 3 million buys on pay-per-view, which is great news for the Las Vegas-based promotion. This is due to the huge payday that they are giving to former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

Expectations

Everyone had the expectation that the UFC would have to offer him a huge deal to fight against after his massive payday for his bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Also, he’s facing one of the most dangerous fighters that the UFC’s lightweight division has to offer in Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Dana White Says

The UFC President recently spoke with Brett Okamoto of ESPN about this upcoming pay-per-view event that will see McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov headline. He noted that his early predictions would be for this show to break all previous records set for the promotion.

“This thing is breaking every record we’ve ever had as far as numbers go,” White said (H/T to MMANews) “I could just go on for days with numbers and how it’s scaling. It’s going to be big. I told you guys that we trending at 2 million pay-per-view buys. We’re closer to 3 million now. We’re trending close to 3 million pay-per-view buys for this fight.”

Promotion

The UFC 229 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Historically, the Las Vegas-based promotion likes to have big names and at least two title fights on each card that they present as a PPV event.

Obviously, the promotion needs these things in order for not just the hardcore but casual fans decide to shell out money in order to watch it. Make no mistake about it, this is a pretty good card but it is being hyped as a traditional fight event as heavily pushing the headlining fight to the public in advertisements. Tony Ferguson vs. Anthony Pettis in a lightweight bout will co-headline.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Seeks More Than Just Win Against Conor McGregor

Khabib Nurmagomedov is highly focused on his plans for UFC 229.

The post Khabib Nurmagomedov Seeks More Than Just Win Against Conor McGregor appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Khabib Nurmagomedov seeks more than just a win when he steps inside of the Octagon to make his next title defense. He’s slated to defend his lightweight title against Conor McGregor in the headliner of the UFC 229 pay-per-view.

This is no doubt the biggest fight in the pro-MMA career of the UFC lightweight champion. His latest bout saw him go through some hurdles to make it happen in the main event of the UFC 223 pay-per-view event as it went through three official changes.

With all of the drama in that fight, it somewhat helped him prepare for the show that comes along with fighting the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Seeks

While doing a recent interview to promote this fight, Nurmagomedov stated that his goal in this fight is not only just to win but rather put a beatdown on McGregor.

“Not just win – smash,” Nurmagomedov said during a Monday appearance on “Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.” “Smash. Smash everything. Submit, beat – heart, mind, everywhere. Five days, we have to wait. And after, we will see who is the real champ. Who is the real king and who is the real Burger King.”

Nurmagomedov also stated that although he has confidence in his own skill set, he’s not underestimating McGregor. The reason for that is the fact that he can appreciate McGregor having “good timing” and “good boxing.”

“This is like this: When you’re on top of him, and when you’re tired, he all the time tap,” Nurmagomedov said (H/T to MMAJunkie). “And he tapped four times already, on his 30 years, and for No. 5, he can tap easily.”

Gameplan

However, he does have a pretty clear plan going into the fight, which is to make him tap out.

“He has good whiskey, like he say. He has good money, like he say. And he thinks this is legacy. He thinks. When cage close, I’m going to be very close all the time, and I make this guy tap. First of all, make him tired, and after make him tap. This my plan.”

Conor McGregor Will Fight Ferguson Or Pettis If Khabib Pulls Out

Conor is more than willing to fight either fighter if Khabib pulls out of their UFC 229 title fight.

The post Conor McGregor Will Fight Ferguson Or Pettis If Khabib Pulls Out appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Conor McGregor willing to fight Anthony Pettis or Tony Ferguson in the main event of UFC 229 if Khabib Nurmagomedov pulls out of their fight.

This is a good mindset to have considering that the UFC lightweight champion has had some issues with making weight at 155-pounds. Thus, this is one of the reasons that the UFC decided to book Pettis vs. Ferguson as the co-headliner. If Khabib can’t make weight then one of them would fight McGregor. It would most likely be Ferguson considering his history.

Ferguson’s History

Ferguson was slated to take on Nurmagomedov at the UFC 223 pay-per-view event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This was when it was revealed that Ferguson suffered an injury and had to pull out of the fight. He was unable to make this fight happen and was forced out of the main event due to the fact that he tore his LCL. As a result, he had to undergo the knife to correct the injury.

Now, he’s ready to return to action as he will fight Pettis at the upcoming UFC 229 pay-per-view event.

Conor McGregor Willing

The former champ talked about how he’d be willing to fight the UFC 229 co-main fighters in a recent interview with The Mac Life.

“I know Pettis and Ferguson is in the co-main. Originally, about a month or two ago when that fight got announced for the co-main, I was like, ‘Man, if Khabib bottles this fight, like he has bottled many fights before…if he bottles this one I don’t think…you know…f*ck those other two’. No disrespect to those other two…I don’t think I give a f*ck about those other two to step in and [fight]. I think I probably would have just disappeared back into the shadows and got that man [Nurmagomedov] somewhere else outside of here.”

“Now that I’m here, I’m back and I’m close, if he didn’t show up. I think I would take a fight against either of those,” he said (H/T to MMAfighting).

The UFC 229 pay-per-view event is slated to take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass.

Conor McGregor Admits He Fell Out Of Love With Fighting

McGregor’s explanation is understandable from his position.

The post Conor McGregor Admits He Fell Out Of Love With Fighting appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Conor McGregor admits that he fell out love with fighting or in his words, “the game” which is why he had to take a step away. From the outside looking in, his relationship with the UFC and its President Dana White appeared to be good. However, McGregor mentioned in an interview that was not the case due to the actions made by the Las Vegas-based promotion.

Success

He won the featherweight title after beating Jose Aldo at UFC 194 in December of 2015 but never defended it and was later stripped of it by the UFC. McGregor has not been seen in the Octagon since UFC 205 when he won the lightweight title from Eddie Alvarez. Once again, he never defended the title and was stripped as a result. McGregor then fought in a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather in August of 2017 but lost by TKO.

Conor McGregor Admits

McGregor stated in an interview given to his own website, The Mac Life that he was upset with the UFC over how they stripped him of his belts as he took it personally. The reason for that is due to him claiming that winning those titles meant everything to him.

”I fell out of love with the game for a bit, went off on to my own thing,” McGregor said. “Had many things going on. Now I’m back. I’m hungry to compete. And we’re here right on the cusp of it. Making weight, handling the media obligations. And that’s it. I spent my entire life’s work to win those two world titles,” he continued. “Those two UFC world titles. I set out a goal, I put everything, absolutely everything, sacrificed so much times, sacrificed so much to gain those world titles. And then as soon as I win the second world title, I wasn’t even offered a featherweight contest and the featherweight title was taken off of me and handed back to a man that I had a crazy history with.”

“I traveled the world with a two year build up. He ended up pulling out last minute. Blah blah blah blah blah, when I end the fight, I knock him out in in 13 seconds and then they give the belt back as soon as I walk out the Octagon in Madison Square Garden. And then like, what, about a month, a month or two, the lightweight belt is stripped from me also.”

”So these kind of things irritate me,” McGregor concluded. “Especially seeing what way it goes, who the belts are given to, who the people are that are challenging the belts. Who the person who has the belt is facing to get the belt. Many things irritate me in the game, and just watching it unfold, I just became more hungry to come back and show who the real king is.”

Quote: Conor McGregor Is On Brink Of Insanity & It’s F—king Awesome

Rockhold also gave his prediction for this UFC 229 headliner.

Conor McGregor is on brink of insanity, according to Luke Rockhold and he thinks that it’s awesome to watch not only as a fighter but as a fight fan.

Rockhold Impressed

The former UFC middleweight champion recently spoke about the UFC 229 press conference that recently took place. This was in order to promote McGregor challenging UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for the strap at the UFC 229 pay-per-view event.

It should be noted that Rockhold is a training partner of Khabib’s at AKA alongside Daniel Cormier and Cain Velasquez.

Conor McGregor Is On Brink Of Insanity

Rockhold noted in a recent interview with Submission Radio that he was left in awe of McGregor due to his behavior at the presser. However, that doesn’t mean he thinks McGregor can win. Instead, he’s sticking with his long-time training partner to prevail come fight night.

“Conor’s…Conor. He’s selling it, man. He’s on the brink of insanity and it’s f—king awesome. Khabib’s a pretty smooth character. He doesn’t really let a lot affect him,” Rockhold said (H/T to Bloody Elbow). “I think you all can see that. Conor always does his homework, he always does his sh-t and he’s always gonna be himself, but the man can fight.

“We all know Khabib can do his thing. He’s 26-0 now. I mean, that’s an unheard of thing,” he added. “The guy’s never lost. Conor’s lost multiple times. Khabib is dangerous. Anybody can lose, but we’ll see what happens. If Khabib gets a hold of him, it’s a different world. You can’t tussle with somebody who’s grappled like that his whole life. I’ve grappled with a lot of 155-pounders in the world and not one, not one can give me the go that Khabib has.”

“I mean, I play with 155-pounders. Khabib is a real go and there’s absolutely no quit in him. He will go to the bitter end. He will go to his death. He has to. I’ve taken him as far as I can ever believe and he just keeps coming. The guy does not, he will not tap to anything. He’s a true fighter.”

UFC 229 pay-per-view will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET.
