Conor McGregor’s coach questions what will happen to the mindset of Khabib Nurmagomedov if he loses a round in their upcoming title fight. The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ is slated to challenge Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title at the UFC 229 event.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Challenges

Nurmagomedov’s latest bout was the biggest fight thus far in his pro-MMA career and he had to go through some hurdles to make it happen. The main event of the UFC 223 pay-per-view event as it went through three official changes.

It includes the UFC attempted to book Nurmagomedov against Tony Ferguson as well as Max Holloway and eventually fighting Al Iaquinta. He scored a decision win over Iaquinta.

Conor McGregor’s Coach Questions

McGregor’s head coach, John Kavanagh, recently said in an interview with The MacLife that he wonders what will happen to the mindset of the UFC lightweight champion. That change in mindset is if he loses a round. This is due to him never losing a round while competing in the UFC.

“It is interesting fighting an unbeaten fighter,” Kavanagh said (transcript courtesy of MMAFighting). “I’ve had a lot of my guys that went a long time unbeaten and then they have the loss. It’s always interesting to see, in that fight where they had their first loss, when things start to go wrong. It’s an unusual feeling for them and sometimes they struggle to deal with that.

“I don’t think Khabib has lost a single round in his UFC career. If you do lose a round are you going to be able to come back out with that same level of confidence in the next round? There’s a lot of interesting things to be played out in this fight.”

The UFC 229 pay-per-view event is slated to take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET.

The preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass. Tony Ferguson vs. former champ Anthony Pettis in a lightweight bout is expected to serve as the co-main event.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk owns reporter after being asked a few times for a prediction of who would win in the main event of the upcoming UFC 229 main event.

This will no doubt be the biggest fight in UFC history or is at least being hyped that way. It seems like each time McGregor fights, that saying is told by fighters, Dana White, and the media.

The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion is slated to challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov for the strap at this show. Ever since this lightweight title showdown was announced by UFC President Dana White, it seems like everyone has an opinion on the fight and who they think will win.

During a media scrum on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 136 in Moscow, the former strawweight champion was a guest fighter and took some questions from the media. First question out of the gate was for her prediction of Khabib vs. McGregor. This is when she gave it.

“I’m 50/50. I’m a big fan of Conor, and I’m a big fan of Khabib. Two different styles,” Jedrzejczyk said to MMAJunkie. “As you saw, I never predict a fight. I don’t like to predict the fights. People can do that.

They can predict my fights, but I never do that. Anything and everything can happen in the fight. This is definitely the fight of, what, like the century? In MMA. So I cannot wait to watch two great warriors fighting each other. I’m 50/50.”

Moving along to the end of Jedrzejczyk’s scrum, she was asked about and this is when the former UFC champion said that she 50/50. When asked about McGregor’s behavior, this is when she decided to make an example of the reporter and asked him to get in front of the camera. The video here is set at the exact timestamp of the incident.

Conor McGregor expresses his inner Ivan Drago while hyping his next fight that is set to go down at the upcoming UFC 229 pay-per-view event. The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion is slated to challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov for the strap.

This is the biggest fight of the year for the Las Vegas-based promotion. Some fight fans could even make the argument that this is the biggest fight in the history of the UFC. It seems like each time McGregor fights, that saying is told by fighters, Dana White, and the media. This is no doubt his toughest challenge in his pro-MMA career.

What’s interesting is the fact that McGregor has done no public media for this fight unlike he had done in the past. There are no press conferences, media interviews, and talk show appearances. None. Instead, he posts something on his social media accounts and the UFC runs video packages of his past fights.

McGregor got people talking after a recent post on his official Instagram account where he expressed his inner real life Ivan Drago. He plans to do this when he meets Khabib for the lightweight title at UFC 228.

For those of you who may not be aware of who Ivan Drago is. Here’s a quick lesson. This was Rocky Balboa’s main rival in the 1985 film Rocky IV. You can see his post here:

Quote: Conor McGregor Probably Sleeps Khabib Nurmagomedov

This top contender has strong expectations for this fight.

The post Quote: Conor McGregor Probably Sleeps Khabib Nurmagomedov appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Conor McGregor probably sleeps UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is a quote that came from one top contender while breaking down this fight. That top contender is Kevin Lee, who spoke about the upcoming fight at the UFC 229 pay-per-view event.

Lee picked up a TKO win in the fifth round over Edson Barboza in the main event of UFC Atlantic City (April 21, 2018). This event went down at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on FOX Sports 1.

Conor McGregor Probably Sleeps Khabib Nurmagomedov

Lee recently did an interview where he predicted that the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion would win this fight by KO. He elaborated on it where he noted that Nurmagomedov is not a finisher.

“I think Conor probably sleeps him,” Kevin Lee told Submission Radio in a recent interview. “You know, the more I think about it and the more I get closer to it, Conor’s probably gonna sleep him. Khabib uses the same entrances. He’s a monster on top, I’ll give him that. Not much of a finisher up there. He got to a spot like with Michael Johnson where he’s practically begging Mike, ‘just give up’, like, ‘I don’t know how to finish you, just give up for me’.”

“He’s gotta do that round after round, after round, after round. And someone like Conor, you walk onto that left hand like how Khabib like to do, you know that’s a sleeper right there. So, more and more I’m pushing towards Conor, even though I’m not really liking the match-up for him. So, it’s a good fight.”

Staying Ready

Lee also made some headlines by stating that he is staying in fight shape in order to make 155-pounds. There’s a good reason for this as he wants to be the one that the UFC calls in case Khabib or McGregor pull out of the event at the last minute.

“I’m still gonna be staying ready, because now you’ve got four of the top lightweights. Three of those guys are pretty prone to pulling out,” he said (H/T to Bloody Elbow). “So I’m gonna stay sharp, I’m always gonna be training anyway. I’m just gonna keep my weight low and stay ready for any moment, because this is MMA. You never know what’s gonna happen. I match up really well with all those guys. That’s what I’m looking forward to.”
