Dana White addresses a frequent question that he is asked by fans about his relationship with former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor. The UFC President understand the importance of having someone like McGregor under contract. Not only is he the biggest pay-per-view draw that they have but also brings in more fans to watch their product.

In a down year for the Las Vegas-based promotion, the only event that had one million pay-per-view buys featured the former champion. White appeared on the Barstool Sports podcast where he talked about various topics. This is when he noted that his biggest problem with Conor is him not appearing on time for press conferences.

One Problem

“Is Conor hard to deal with here and there? Yeah but he’s worth it,” White said (H/T to SportsJoe). “If people ask me what’s the biggest problem you have with Conor? It’s not showing up on time.

“Other than that, Conor’s incredible. Conor’s a fun guy to be around. He’s hilarious, he’s a great fighter, he’s fun to watch. If the guy showed up on time, he’d literally be perfect. He’d be perfect.”

It’s no secret that McGregor tends to be late for his interactions with the media and most of the time shows up at least 20 minutes late to press conferences. Situations such an incident that led to Nate Diaz storming out of the UFC 202 presser. Also, in his latest fight, Khabib Nurmagomedov refusing to hang around while waiting on him for UFC 229.

“We’re a global sport so when we do these press conferences. We’re on television networks all over the world that are taking this press conference. So they’re live and they’re ready to go. If Conor doesn’t show up for another 30 minutes, it’s a problem. We’ve got to fill the time and not only fill the time but keep people interested. Get them willing to stick around which is tough to do these days.”

Jon Jones explains why he strongly believes that Daniel Cormier is not an actual double champion despite what his record says.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion is just over a week away from making his Octagon return. Thus, it’s that time again to rip his arch-rival. Cormier has held both the UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight titles. He fought all the top names in the 205 pound division including Jones but never was able to score a victory over him.

This recent rant all started once Cormier took a shot at Jones having banned substances in his system. This was after Jones had said that he has always felt he’s the rightful owner of the belt.

This led to Jones firing back with this statement where he gave his take on this situation involving McGregor. The Irishman has held the UFC lightweight and featherweight titles in his career. Jones wrote the following on his official Twitter account:

“Pinch of salt, no pinch of salt. You still had steroids in your system in a fist fight,” Cormier stated. Not cool. Daddys baby still out there whining, What proud “double Champion just vacates his belt because someone else returns to the sport?”

“Fight me one more time and prove you’re actually the champ champ. I’ll donate $100,000 to a charity in San Diego if you accept. Conor McGregor was an actual double Champ, the whole world knows your claim is a freaking joke. You’re more than welcome to be my first title defense.”

Headline: Dana White Reveals His ‘Biggest Problem’ with Conor McGregor But Adds ‘He’s Worth It’

Author: Damon Martin

Conor McGregor is the biggest superstar in UFC history and because of that he’s been given more latitude than the average athlete on the roster.

UFC president Dana White has fully admitted as much when talking about the former two-division champion and his status with the company he’s helped earn million upon millions of dollars since first arriving.

Even when McGregor assaulted a bus filled with fighters back in April, he faced no retribution from the UFC, although he did spend a night in jail and could potentially pay out millions in lawsuits over the incident.

Still, White says McGregor is worth any headache he causes but largely he’s been a model citizen for most of his UFC career.

That said, White will point out one issue he has with McGregor that he wishes would change if for no other reason than problems he causes with their television partners.

“Is Conor hard to deal with here and there? Yeah but he’s worth it,” White said when speaking to the Barstool Sports podcast. “If people ask me what’s the biggest problem you have with Conor? It’s not showing up on time.

“Other than that, Conor’s incredible. Conor’s a fun guy to be around, he’s hilarious, he’s a great fighter, he’s fun to watch. If the guy showed up on time, he’d literally be perfect. He’d be perfect.”

White said that McGregor’s constant absenteeism at the start of press conference have caused more problems than anything else because many of those events are broadcast on television.

Unfortunately, McGregor has a tendency to live on his own time schedule and that has resulted in his late arrival to numerous events.

In fact, McGregor was so late for his final press conference showdown for the fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov back in October that the reigning lightweight champion just got up and left rather than wait for him any longer.

McGregor always offers an apology for his lateness but White still wishes he could find a way to be on time more often.

Could there be trouble in paradise? That’s how it seems as speculation of Conor McGregor and John Kavanagh’s strained relationship continues to pop up.

It all started after McGregor’s UFC 229 loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov. That’s when coach Kavanagh claimed he had not been in contact with his most famous student in the days after the record-breaking fight.

Speculation of their strained relationship picked up more steam earlier this month when the SBG head coach revealed Conor would have to convince him to corner him ever again.

“He would certainly have to convince me to go again,” Kavanagh told the Irish Independent.

“I love him, I love the whole journey we’ve had but I’d need a good ‘why’. It might be [Nate] Diaz again because he promised that fight. It might be a rematch with Khabib. But if it was just: ‘Well, they want me to fight that guy’ I think I’d say, ‘I wish you the best.’

“He has a wife and two kids now and I don’t want him taking more hits than he needs to.”

Based on Kavanagh’s comments, it sure looks as though he and McGregor have grown distant. However, you can’t always read too much into words.

Out Of Context?

According to Bellator featherweight and SBG fighter James Gallagher, the coach’s words were taken completely out of context., and that there is indeed no trouble in paradise.

“I feel like it was more he’d rather not see Conor fight in a fight that’s not meaningful. I think that was taken wrong,” Gallagher told The Metro. “I feel like it was more he’d rather not see Conor fight in a fight that’s not meaningful.

“Because Conor’s 30, he’s got a family. He doesn’t need to fight in a non-meaningful fight. I think that’s what he meant to say. He wants Conor in a meaningful fight like the Nate Diaz fight.

“He won’t be going in there fighting someone like Cowboy (Donald Cerrone). It doesn’t make sense. I think that was what he was trying to say. I could be wrong, but I do believe it was taken out of context.”

Before McGregor can fight again, he must first learn what his punishment will be for his role in the infamous UFC 229 post-fight brawl. The Irishman was supposed to appear before the Nevada State Athletic Commission last Monday but was granted a continuance.
