Corey Anderson will not be getting the Jon Jones fight according to UFC president as he turns down too many fights. So, he has now shifted his focus.

Taking to social media, after Johnny Walker teased fight news coming soon, he said he wants the Brazilian at UFC 244 in Madison Square Garden.

“Wanted to dethrone the “King”, they want me to derail a train, Johnny Walker thinks he’s ready for the big leagues, time to roll out the red carpet. You want the sauce?! Meet me in the land of opportunity, NYC, MSG, Nov 2nd,” Anderson wrote on Twitter.

Of course, Corey Anderson is coming off of a decision win over Ilir Latifi back at UFC 232 last December. Before that, the 29-year-old beat Glover Teixeira and Patrick Cummins both by decision. The American has not finished a fight since 2016 and before the three wins, was on a two-fight losing streak.

Walker, meanwhile, is 17-3 as a pro including going 3-0 in the UFC and winning on the Contender Series. In his three wins he knocked out Khalil Rountree in 1:57 then knocked out Justin Ledet in 15 seconds, then knocked out Misha Cirkunov in 36 seconds.

Currently, the Brazilian is sidelined due to a shoulder injury that he hurt doing the worm after his KO win over the Canadian. Whether or not this fight happens is to be seen, but Anderson has called for it.

Who do you think would win between Johnny Walker and Corey Anderson?

UFC president Dana White shut down the prospect of a Jon Jones vs. Corey Anderson light heavyweight title fight.

Jones and Anderson have been going at each other’s throats in recent times, most recently confronting each other in New Jersey. With Anderson being on a three-fight winning streak and Dominick Reyes already booked to another fight, it looks like he’s next in line as well.

Not in White’s books, though, as he claims “Overtime” has turned down multiple fights in the last month:

“Corey Anderson’s turned down about 50 fights in the last months…no,” White responded at the UFC 240 post-fight press conference when asked if he had plans to book that fight.

White does, however, think Jones will compete again in 2019 despite his recent battery charge. The 205-pound king has already spoken of potentially headlining the UFC’s return to New York’s Madison Square Garden in November.

It’s a role that White could see happen:

“Yeah,” White added when asked if Jones could headline the New York card. “No [I haven’t spoken to him about it]. I haven’t talked to Jon. Let me tell you this, I saw some videos [related to the battery accusations]. Jon Jones will be fighting again.”

Jon Jones’ name has been in headlines recently, and not for good reasons.

“Bones” is being accused of battery by a cocktail waitress stemming from an incident at a strip club in New Mexico earlier this year. However, according to UFC President Dana White, things might not be as bad as they seem.

While that materializes, Jones was recently doing an appearance in New Jersey, when he was interrupted by top-ranked light heavyweight Corey Anderson, flanked by some friends. The pair engaged in a verbal back-and-forth which was quickly separated.

Check out the footage here:

This led to an online back-and-forth between both Jones and Anderson, the latter of which would, of course, love to land a title shot against the light heavyweight champion next:

“I just came to say “Hi”… @JonnyBones comes to my town I want to give him a nice warm welcome. But noooo, he got emotional that I know his manager. I’m the victim! And then he insulted my coach @DanteRiveraMMA …. #ufc #fightme

“Attention, it worked. Looked like a clown getting booed in his hometown though. Bones-1 Corny Anderson-0. Haters man, keeping me on my toes”

“Will somebody tell his coach he’s not either”

“Funny how now you have something to say on twitter but when I was standing in your face you was so quick to call for security and come at my coach instead of bringing that energy my way. Doink!”

“Let’s see what the @UFC wants to do”

“When I confronted him for coming to stir up trouble, his response was “I didn’t even say anything” he was such a freaking coward, his coach had bigger balls.”

“. And that maybe changing to Corny soon”

“Oh save it, like you pump anybody up”

“Got you fired up today… and all I did was talk to your manager…and got you watching my twitter…..”

“See what I’m talking about people, so lame. I can’t even talk shit with you, I feel like I’m picking on you. You’re like a child. I’m done.”

“Hahahaha stop it man. Picking on me?! You’ve said ONE thing TO me. Everything else has been directed to other platforms or to the fans. Talk yo shit cuz I’ve yet to hear anything.. You pick on women and 185lbers but yet to bring shit my way. Them drugs got you trippin again?”

“Fake news. My words to you were “what you mad cuz I’m talking to your manager? You’re not the only one who know people.” You replied “don’t come in here talking shit this isnt the place….”. I then I said “why u mad? I ain’t even said anything to you yet.” Confront me?. QUIT IT!”

Do you think a bout between Jones and Anderson could be next?

UFC light heavyweight contender Corey Anderson is the latest fighter to mock Jon Jones after the latter’s recent battery charges.

Jones was charged with battery after an alleged incident that took place in a New Mexico strip club with a waitress. Jones would deny the allegations on social media, but given his past, it’s not easy for many in the combat sport world to take his word.

Welterweight contender and former roommate of Jones, Colby Covington notably mocked Jones’ tweet denying the allegations afterwards. And Anderson, who has had his own back-and-forth interactions with “Bones” recently, seems to be the latest fighter not to take his word:

“So last week it was his past like he was a changed man,” Anderson tweeted. “This morning we see he’s still the same ol ‘Can’t get right’…from pregnant woman to strippers. @JonnyBones deserves a Grammy for his acting skills, cuz he selling the media that changed man roll like Denzel. #ufc#phony”

The current UFC light heavyweight champion notably took aim at Anderson for bringing up his controversial past and promised to expose him if they met in the Octagon next.

According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Anderson seems to be in the running to be his next challenger. Provided these new legal issues are cleared for Jones, it’s possible this fight takes place in December.

What do you make of Anderson’s comments? Do you want to see him face Jones next?
