Deep celebrated 10 years and 50 “Impact” events in grand style on Sunday night at JCB Hall in Tokyo, Japan with four champions, Shinya Aoki and a host of other star Deep returnees on display

Lightweight Champion Katsunori Kikuno fought three hard rounds against the hard-hitting Takanori Gomi disciple Nobuhiro Obiya to retain his strap with a unanimous decision while Deep Welterweight Champion Yuya Shirai also went the distance against a hardy but outclassed Shigetoshi Iwase.

It is potential disaster when you have champions in non-title bouts but disaster was averted as Deep Bantamweight Champion Masakazu Imanari and Light Heavyweight Champion Yoshiyuki Nakanishi both picked up wins against Daiki “DJ.taiki” Hata and Katsuyori Shibata respectively.

It would have been more of a disaster if DREAM Lightweight Champion Shinya Aoki was to lose against MMA rookie Yokthai Sithoar but the reigning champion had no issues as he submitted the former WBA World Champion in the first round, first minute.

DEEP has announced five more fights for their 10th Anniversary DEEP 50th Impact event, confirming some of the bouts leaked by ticketing service E-Plus,

Ryo Chonan vs Jung Hwan Cha, Hidetaka Monma vs Yoshihisa Yamamoto, Ryuta Noji vs Hiroshi Nagao, Isao Terada vs Yoshiki Harada and Shoji Maruyama vs Tatsunao Nagakura have all be added to the mega-card with the only change from the leak being Jung Hwan Cha stepping in for the Bellator bound Yoshiyuki Yoshida. Chonan will get a shot at revenge after he suffered a shock KO loss to Cha at Astra back in April.

Shinya Aoki, Ikuhisa Minowa, Kazuo Misaki, Won Sik “Parky” Park, Akira Shoji, Daiki “DJ Taiki” Hata and Kazunori Yokota are among the names that were originally leaked as participants by E-Plus but have not yet been made official.

A bout that has been in the making for years and the most important bout ever under the DREAM banner. On July 10 at DREAM.15 champion Shinya Aoki and challenger Tatsuya Kawajiri will meet in a lightweight title fight to decide who will be Japan’s representative to the world.

Also Gegard Mousasi, Melvin Manhoef and Jake O’Brien will attempt to advance towards light-heavyweight gold, Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante will attempt to rebound against Katsunori Kikuno and Mitsuhiro Ishida and Michihiro Omigawa will return in featherweight action.

Below, a full breakdown of FEG’s latest effort with predictions so good, I like to call them pre-fight results.

Only one week prior to DREAM.15 we are finally starting to get some more matches, but it looks like FEG are having troubles. Yoshida Dojo fighters Kazuhiro Nakamura and Michihiro Omigawa have officially made the move to DREAM where they will face Karl “Psycho” Amousso and Young Sam Jung respectively. You can be forgiven for not recognizing the name Young Sam Jung. One of Japan’s best at featherweight will be facing an 0-2 fighter. Both losses come by first round KO.

Mitsuhiro Ishida will be making the move down to “featherweight” to meet Daiki “DJ.taiki” Hata and the light-heavyweight title eliminator match between Gegard Mousasi vs. Jake O’Brien was made official.

When using the term featherweight with DREAM, one must use caution though. Omigawa rejected DREAM’s odd weight limit of 63kg and will instead fight at 65kg and the Ishida vs. DJ.taiki weight limit is still under negotiation.

More details after the break.
