Ex-UFC champion Sean Strickland backs down, apologizes to David Goggins: 'I’m just bored and angry'

Sean Strickland is backing down from his fiery feud with David Goggins.

After the former UFC middleweight champion made some disparaging remarks about the U.S. Navy SEALs, Goggins, a former member of the elite military unit, offered a challenge to Strickland — three days of training in exchange for three rounds of boxing.

The two spent the next few days snapping back at one another on social media with Goggins laying down an ultimatum in his last video message.

In an interesting twist, Strickland issued an apology to Goggins, noting that his online attack on the ultramarathon runner came about because he was “bored and angry” while sitting on the sidelines waiting for his next shot at gold inside the Octagon.

“Ok fine… I’m sorry Goggins you’re cool I’m just bored and angry… You can show up but if not it’s cool man you’re a solid runner, you have some cool quotes… My mental stability is coming back lol,” Strickland wrote on Instagram.

“Hey guys, if I had to be completely honest I think I’m just bored and angry,” Strickland says in the video. “I’m the number one contender, I got to wait for Izzy [Adesanya] and Dricus [Du Plessis] to get my shot. What does one do? I’m bored and angry. I’m training, I’m in shape, but what does one do? I’m just bored and angry.”

Strickland echoed a similar sentiment on X.

“Alright you guys I’m done making fun of Goggins, I trained, I feel good,” Strickland wrote. “Clarity I have to wait for Dricus and Izzy to fight.. I’m on the bench I’m just bored and angry and hurting people makes me feel good inside lol.. You’re cool goggins… keep on jogging my man….”

Perhaps we’ll still see Strickland and Goggins meet up at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas someday, but for now, it appears as though both men are content to go their separate ways.

Sean Strickland is Chomping at the bit for his next UFC Title opportunity

Though no official announcements have been made, Sean Strickland should be the next man in line for a shot at the middleweight strap, just as soon as reigning champion Dricus Du Plessis handles some business with former two-time titleholder.

The two will tussle at UFC 305 on August 17 when the promotion heads back to Perth, Australia. There, Du Plessis will put his title on the line for the first time since securing a somewhat controversial split decision victory over Strickland at UFC 297 in January.

With Strickland bouncing back against Paulo Costa in June, ‘Tarzan’ re-established himself as the top-ranked contender in the division and is banking on challenging the winner of next month’s main event in The Land Down Under.

Ex-Navy SEAL David Goggins escalates feud with Sean Strickland, reveals DMs sent to former UFC champ

David Goggins is done with all the trash-talking and video messages.

Earlier this week, the former U.S. Navy SEAL and ultramarathon runner found himself in a fiery feud with former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland. It all seemingly started with ‘Tarzan’ shared a video of him pummeling a Navy SEAL during a five-round sparring session.

Strickland has also made some disparaging remarks regarding the SEALs in the past, suggesting that not a single member of the elite military unit could hang with him in the gym for a single day.

That prompted Goggins to issue a challenge to the outspoken superstar, inviting Strickland to train with him for one of his infamous ‘Hell Week‘ camps.

Since then, the two have gone back and forth on social media, but little action beyond that has been taken. Reaching out one more time, Goggins agreed to step inside the cage with Strickland if ‘Tarzan’ could make it through three days of his brutal training regimen that pushed Tony Ferguson to the limit.

“This is my last video about this. Sean Strickland, I know you’re doing all this for clickbait,” Goggins said in a video posted on Instagram. “We had a DM the other day, me and you back and forth. I was pretty much DM’ing you because you called me a bitch, talking about my military career, and going out here like you said in your DM and trying to be a clown. You’re an MMA fighter and also you’re a comedian.

“I’m not much of a comedian at all. I’m an old-school man, bro. So you go out there calling people a b*tch and sh*t like that, saying no Navy SEAL can hang with your training. You were born in 1991 I believe. I was born in 1975. Talk about me being old, me being beat up. Once again, I know you’re trying to clickbait all this stuff, but I’m an old-fashioned man.”

From there, Goggins revealed a DM that he sent to Strickland which ‘Tarzan’ has not yet responded to.

David Goggins

“You have yet to respond to his, so at any time you want to train with me, I am ready to train with you,” Goggins added. “I am done with the videos. Ya’ll can keep on tagging me on TikTok and all this other sh*t… Sean, it’s in your court.”

Sean Strickland responds to David Goggins’ final challenge

It didn’t take long for Strickland to issue a response on social media, letting Goggins know that if he’s lookin’ to go, he’s not hard to find.

Sean Strickland

“Cracks me up to hear David Garggle Goggins rant… “I’m old school” as he’s on tiktok “let’s handle this like men” Ok sure,” Strickland wrote on X. “I’m in Vegas, you’re in Vegas….. I train at the same gym everyday.. IM EASY TO FIND! You on the other hand…. you just live on tiktok….location?”

Fans Give Confused Reaction To Sean O’Malley Winning ‘Best UFC Fighter’ At The ESPYs

ESPN’s annual awards, The ESPYs, took place last night where Bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley was named the best UFC fighter.

He came out on top in a category that featured three other world champions in Alex Pereira, Islam Makhachev and Weili Zhang.

The instant reaction from fans online was to question how “Suga” could have possibly won the category, considering what “Poatan” has done in recent times.

Whilst some fans questioned whether the period of time that is judged meant that the award was voted this way, many were simply baffled at the idea of Pereira not winning this award regardless of which time frame you want to look at.

“Bro sean has fought 3 ( 4 if you county the Pedro fight) times since 2022. Alex has fought 8 smh they did bad on this”

“Alright the UFC pushing Sean as the next superstar allegations are undeniable now”

“what exactly is the criteria lmao”

David Goggins Challenges Sean Strickland To Three Days Of Training For Three Rounds Of Boxing

David Goggins vs. Sean Strickland has turned into a surprising social media beef as of late, with both men speaking about one another in videos.

Following the former UFC middleweight champion’s comments about Navy SEALs and Goggins’ military career, the athlete and public speaker issued a challenge to him to test what Strickland is truly made of.

“Sean Strickland, I know you’re doing all this for clickbait. We had a DM the other day, me and you, back and forth. I was pretty much DMing you because you called me a b**** and talked about my military career and going out here once again and trying to, like you said in your DM, trying to be a clown. You’re an MMA fighter and you’re also a comedian so, you know, I’m not much of a comedian at all.”

As seen below, Goggins recently shared a look at the message that he sent to Strickland which has not received a reply as of yet, calling to train and spar with him.

He continued to say that he is done with exchanging videos and that this is his final offer- and whether the former champion takes it or not is up to him.

“You say you can f*** me up in training, I responded to that video to you and this is what I said. You have yet to respond to this and so anytime you want to train with me, I am ready to train with you. I am done with the videos.”

Ciryl Gane vs. Alexander Volkov 2 Reportedly Set For UFC 308 In Abu Dhabi

The UFC is heading back to Abu Dhabi in October for UFC 308, as has become a tradition for the MMA leader’s calendar.

A first match-up has been reported for this card with Ag. Fight claiming that former interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane will be facing Alexander Volkov in a rematch on October 26.

Many were expecting to see Gane return on the Paris card in September, after he reportedly turned down the option to fight Tom Aspinall at UFC 304 later this month.

Volkov will be looking to avenge his loss to “Bon Gamin” in 2021 off the back of a big victory over Sergei Pavlovich in Saudi Arabia last month.

Sean Strickland has accepted David Goggins‘ challenge.

The unexpected rivalry between Strickland and the former U.S. Navy SEAL has seemingly reached a boiling point. It all started when the ‘Tarzan’ issued a challenge to Goggings, inviting him to Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas for a 15-minute sparring session.

Goggins decided to one-up the ex-UFC champ, challenging Strickland to go through his infamous “Hell Week” training camp that had Tony Ferguson vomiting regularly.

“This is your opportunity to show that world that you can f*ck me up,” Goggins said in a video message.

“I will have camera crews out there. You make sure you bring your f*cking camera crew out there because you’re going to want to get this on camera. A 49-year-old broke down knee, f*cked up body guy is gonna put you through a camp that you think you can f*ck me up in. This is your opportunity, Strickland. I haven’t forgotten about your video. I hope to see you there also.”

Sean Strickland accepts Goggins’ challenge

It didn’t take long for Sean Strickland to snap back at Goggins, accepting the challenge and offering a word of warning.

“Goggins, I heard you want a piece,” Strickland said. “Challenge accepted. Just so you know man, the only thing you beat me at in life is f*cking running. But guess what, I don’t have to f*cking run. You run for me.”

Goggins’ challenge comes not long after Strickland released footage online of him pummeling a Navy SEAL during a five-round sparring session.

Before that, ‘Tarzan’ made some disparaging remarks about the Navy’s primary special operations force, suggesting that not a single member of the elite unit would be able to hang with him in the gym.

After spending 20 years of his life serving his country, Goggins is now best known for his accomplishments as an ultramarathon runner.

David Goggins set to corner Tony Ferguson at UFC 296 this weekend

Former United States Navy SEAL and endurance trainer, David Goggins is reportedly set to corner former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson at UFC 296 this weekend – as the Oxnard veteran looks to snap a disappointing six-fight losing skid in his fight with Paddy Pimblett.

Ferguson, a former interim lightweight champion, has been sidelined since he featured on the main card of UFC 291 back in July, suffering a late third round arm-triangle submission loss to recent UFC Austin feature, Bobby Green.

And ahead of his return to the Octagon against Liverpool prospect, Pimblett this weekend, The Ultimate Fighter veteran, Ferguson employed the training talents and techniques of the above-mentioned, Goggins.

Pushed to his limit in a series of training videos posted on his official social media, former interim champion, Ferguson became the first civilian to complete Goggins’ Navy SEAL ‘hell week’ programme.

And according to UFC play-by-play lead ahead of this weekend’s flagship event in Las Vegas, Ferguson is set to welcome Goggins into his corner for his lightweight scrap with the returning Pimblett.

“Certainly for us, we want to hear how this training camp is different from past training camps,” Jon Anik told MMA Fighting. “Is [Tony Ferguson’s coach] David MIlls still a centerpiece? Oftentimes the first lens for me into the preparation when I look into the 28 fighters is ‘Let me see that corner audio sheet, let me see hwo’s gonna be in the corner.’ It looks like David Goggins is probably going to be in that corner for Tony Ferguson.”

“But what exactly has the [Goggins] preperation held?” Anik continued. “You know, for me I know that my body feels different at 45 than [at] 35, even if I’m still exercising the same way. …Will he answer the veracity? I don’t know. How does his body feel, really, at this stage in his career? How is his body recovering, you know? But, I’m excited to see him try to sort of, you know, have one final moment, and maybe it’ll come against Paddy Pimblett, maybe it won’t.”
