Following his dominant victory over Tyron Woodley, Colby Covington got a phone call from President Trump congratulating him on his achievement.

During his ESPN post-fight interview, the welterweight had to take a call from President Trump where he congratulated Colby calling him a “great fighter”.

“Congratulations, I wanted to watch that fight tonight, I wanted to watch it you were great,” Trump said. “Thank you so much Mr. President, you gave me the dragon energy when you shook my hand on Sunday at your rally and it doesn’t matter if King Kong was in front of me I was not going to lose after getting to shake your hand at your rally,” Colby replied.

The two shared their admiration for each other with Trump sharing that he is proud of Covington going further to say there is a champion in there. “I’m a big fan and I’m proud of you, you’re tough you have the right spirit so now go win the next one and just keep it for a long time, just keep that championship for a long time, you are something and say hello to all the guys I appreciated the shoutout tonight too.” Trump shared.

The President is referring to Covington’s words during his post-fight octagon side interview where he gave praise to the President. “Ladies and gentlemen, the silent majority is ready to make some noise. If you thought that was a beating, wait till November 3rd. when Donald Trump gets his hands on ‘Sleepy Joe’ (Joe Biden). That’s gonna be a landslide.”

President Trump closed their phone call stating that “I’m your fan, you’re my fan, Two of a kind,” before having to leave to attend a rally. Covington responded to these kind words stating that he plans new to bring the new UFC belt to the oval office.

President Donald Trump has endorsed Colby Covington ahead of his UFC Vegas 11 main event against Tyron Woodley.

Covington and Woodley will finally settle their differences inside the Octagon and although it is a massive fight, Covington is not doing any media. But, he broke his silence with a video message with Trump who wished “Chaos” luck in the fight.

“I’m gonna be watching Colby, I’m a big fan of Colby, he’s a winner and he’s a champ. It’s gonna be a great evening, a great fight, and I just wish him the best of luck. I’ve seen him a lot and he is tough – good luck champ.”

Colby Covington is coming off a fifth-round TKO loss to Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title at UFC 245. It was a competitive fight with many thinking Chaos was winning until he got dropped twice and eventually finished in the final round. Before that, he beat Robbie Lawler by decision after taking a year off after winning the interim title and not getting the title fight.

Tyron Woodley, meanwhile, is on a two-fight losing streak and no doubt needs to get his hand raised here. He is coming off two dominating losses to Gilbert Burns and Kamaru Usman to lose his belt. But, if he goes and beats Covington, “The Chosen One” would be right back into contention atop of the stacked welterweight division.

UFC Vegas 11 lineup is as follows:

  • Colby Covington vs. Tyron Woodley
  • Donald Cerrone vs. Niko Price
  • Ryan Spann vs. Johnny Walker
  • Mackenzie Dern vs. Randa Markos
  • Kevin Holland vs. Darren Stewart
  • Khamzat Chimaev vs. Gerald Meerschaert
  • Mara Romero Borella vs. Mayra Bueno Silva
  • David Dvorak vs. Jordan Espinosa
  • Randy Costa vs. Journey Newson
  • Andre Ewell vs. Irwin Rivera
  • Sarah Alpar vs. Jessica-Rose Clark
  • TJ Laramie vs. Darrick Minner
  • Tyson Nam vs. Jerome Rivera
  • Mirsad Bektic vs. Eduardo Garagorri

Donald Trump held a presidential campaign event in Nevada and amongst the big crowd were several UFC personalities. This included, UFC President Dana White and a handful of his fighters were in attendance to show support for the US President. The group included UFC Lightweight Interim Champion Justin Gaethje, former double-champ Henry Cejudo and long-time Trump fan Colby Covington.

Trump showed the highest praise to White in front of the large crowd, calling him “so smart, so tough, so cunning,” as well as boasting about how he helped the UFC in its early days.

“I gave (Dana White) a place a long time ago,” Trump said about letting UFC use his venue. “All I know, is just like we have outside, we had lines. I was like ‘what the hell is going on here, Dana? This place is packed!’ We were packed, we had thousands of people.

“I was so nice, I said ‘let’s do it again, Dana.’ We did it again, and again, and again, and it became the UFC. And he sold it, and had a big chunk of it, and he got four billion dollars — what he sold it, four billion! That’s not too bad, Dana!

“He’s an incredible guy, and he also loves his fighters. He wants to take care of his fighters, and he brought some of them, among the best.”

Trump also made sure to give praise to the fighters present during his speech by saying they have “a lot of muscles” and “a lot of genius.”

Cejudo and Gaethje happily took photos and videos of themselves sitting next to White from the front row of the campaign event. In these social media videos, the former two-division champion Cejudo was loud and proud with his support as he repeatedly exclaimed “Trump Nation” whilst sat next to Gaethje and their manager Ali Abdelaziz.

White and the UFC’s vocal support for Trump’s re-election hasn’t gone unnoticed. Subsequently, the US President returned the favour by praising the organisation to his masses and promoting the UFC’s upcoming events.

Trump put his weight behind the upcoming title bout between Gaethje and the champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. To his supporters, Trump declared it “a tremendous fight coming up against the number one rated pound-for-pound fighter” and that “we’re going to be watching. It’s right before the election, but we’re going to be watching it, okay? I’ll be watching. You better believe it. It’s going to be an incredible fight.”

The President stepped in front of the camera to shoot a backstage video with Covington to promote the upcoming Coving fight with Tyron Woodley this weekend.

UFC President Dana White made headlines outside of the UFC last night as he spoke at the Republican National Convention and endorsed President Trump for re-election.

President Trump posted the full video of his friend Dana White speaking at the RNC last night.

“Hey everyone, I am Dana White, the president of the UFC. Many of you know who I am, what I do, and that I am friends with the President. I spoke at this convention four years ago and I’m back because I believe we need President Trump’s leadership now more than ever. Before the pandemic, President Trump built the greatest economy in our nation’s history, and created opportunities for all Americans like no one before him. Financial markets hit all-time highs, unemployment at an all-time low, and we weren’t facing the lawless destruction that now is occurring in a few of our great cities,” White said.

“It blows my mind how quickly some of the leadership in this country has forgotten the critical role first responders play in our society. Police departments and other law enforcement, even some fire departments have faced opposition from many in this country. But they are always the people asked to step up when things at their worst and put themselves at risk. That has certainly been the case during this ongoing pandemic. Come on America. Defunding these vital positions is not the answer. The first responders have always taken care of us, and now more than ever, we need to take care of them.”

White praised Trump’s leadership and touted that the president has always had the “health and safety” of Americans first and foremost in his mind, before going onto to elaborate how Trump was able to help get professional sports leagues, including the UFC, back on track during the pandemic.

White concluded his speech by formally endorsing President Trump for re-election, adding that he hopes the country can figure out how to deal with all its problems.

“Ladies and gentlemen, let’s re-elect President Trump. Let’s figure out what the problems are and continue to find solutions to those problems, then let’s get to work,” White said. (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)

Certainly, some controversial headlines might come out of this for the UFC President. What do you make of Dana White speaking at the RNC? Does it affect your opinion?

Dana White doesn’t care what people think of him supporting Donald Trump ahead of the US election this November.

For years now, White and Trump have been friends and on Thursday, the UFC president will speak at the Republican National Convention. Although politics is something many can’t agree on, Dana White doesn’t care about any of the backlash he is getting for supporting Trump and speaking at the convention.

“That sh*t doesn’t bother me,” White told reporters, including MMA Junkie, on Tuesday night in Las Vegas (via MMAJunkie). “Listen, this is America. Everybody has their own opinions and their own choices. I know that sometimes people go after you because of whatever, but everybody knows me. Everybody knows what I’m about, and you know. I don’t know. Talk to me after the speech.”

Donald Trump allowed the UFC to host events at his casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey when not many places would allow UFC events. From then on, he has been a supporter of the mixed martial artist promotion and was part of the opening package of the UFC 249 pay-per-view and was at UFC 244 in New York City.

Given their friendship was long before Trump was a politician, Dana White doesn’t care what people think of him speaking at the convention.

“I don’t give a sh*t. I don’t care what people think of me or what they think,” White said. “The people that know me know who I am and know what I’m about. Other than that, I (couldn’t) care less. There’s tons of guys that hate Trump, whether it’s celebrities or whatever, and I’m cool with all of them. We’re all cool. Like I said, the people who know me, know me, and the people who don’t all judge me anyways. It doesn’t matter to me. I (couldn’t) care less.”
