Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed he will do all he can to make Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury a reality this year.

Following Fury’s WBC heavyweight title win over Deontay Wilder over the weekend, Hearn called for a title unification fight with current unified heavyweight champion Joshua in the summer.

Many were skeptical give how a Joshua vs. Wilder title unification fight never materialized two years ago. However, Hearn says some broadcasting issues aside, everyone involved wants to make this fight happen.

“He’s [Fury] promoted by [Top Rank CEO] Bob Arum predominantly,” Hearn told Sky Sports. “Frank Warren is also involved, MTK are his management company. I’ve spoke to Top Rank and I’ve spoke to MTK straight after the fight. Everybody is very clear on this. Everybody wants this fight – Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, MTK, Top Rank, Frank Warren, Matchroom. There are some hurdles to overcome on the broadcasting, but nothing too much.

“I promise you this fight will happen. If we have to fight (Kubrat) Pulev, we’ve got to beat Pulev, and if he has to fight Wilder, he’s got to beat Wilder again. Both of those things will happen. Fury will beat Wilder again and Joshua will knock Pulev clean out, despite Bob Arum telling us very differently. You will get this fight. We will do everything that it takes to make this fight.”

As Hearn mentioned, Kubrat Pulev is set to challenge Joshua next as his IBF mandatory. Meanwhile, Wilder has revealed that he does plan on triggering his rematch clause. That means a summer title unification fight is out of the window.

But should both fighters get through those next bouts, Hearn is confident a big British showdown will occur, especially with both camps wanting the fight:

“Last time, you had us and Team Wilder and we were locking heads,” Hearn added. “Right now, you have two guys and two camps that genuinely want this fight, that genuinely will do everything that they can to make this fight. It is the only fight.

“When are we ever going to get the chance of two British world heavyweight champions fighting for the undisputed title against each other? It’s never happened before it will never happen again. We’d be clowns, we’d be idiots if we didn’t make this fight. We believe we win the fight, they believe they win the fight, so let’s see it.”

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn wants an Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight to happen later this year.

Fury became the WBC heavyweight champion following his seventh-round TKO win over Deontay Wilder last night. In the process, he established himself as arguably the best heavyweight in the sport today.

Wilder does have a rematch clause which he must reportedly trigger within 30 days. However, given the nature of the fight, many in the combat sport world would prefer to see Fury face domestic rival and current WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO champion Joshua.

And despite the accusations heading his way about wanting to protect his star fighter, Hearn wants to make the fight happen and says Joshua wants it as well:

“Of course I am!” Hearn replied to a fan who said he wouldn’t let Joshua near Fury following the latter’s win. “And AJ wants it bad..this fight is gonna and has to happen this year!”

Hearn added there was no need for a Fury vs. Wilder trilogy and called for a title unification fight with Joshua to happen in the summer:

“No need for a third let’s go straight to it in the Summer! #undisputed”

Of course, things like this have been said in the past before as well. We’ll just have to wait and see if the stars align for the heavyweight title unification fight everyone has been dying to see.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Hearn offered some high praise to the former UFC champion. (H/T BJPenn.com)

“I don’t know what’s happening with his career or fights,” Hearn said. “I’m not really up to speed on the MMA and UFC side. But I do know, he’ll always be probably the biggest draw in UFC.”

Hearn was then asked if he’d like to work with McGregor if he decided to return to boxing. While Hearn is interested, he’s unsure if McGregor would even truly need his help.

“I’d like to think so, but he’s got a big enough brand, it’s almost like does he really need me? “It’s a bit like Gennady Golovkin with us representing. He can do it himself, but we can do it better with him. Not for him, with him,” Hearn said.

“It’s very much once they get to those kinds of levels of partnership, where you say to someone ‘Conor look, we know you’re the boss, you’re the brand, but behind the scenes in terms of revenue, in terms of PR, in terms of profile, in terms of logistics, and of general management of your show to make your life easier, we’re as slick as they come.

“And that’s where the relationships come in with Gennady as well. And when you get those kinds of things it’s a big honour because those guys can go for anyone..and that’s big for us.”

Hearn then detailed the first time he met McGregor, asking the Irishman for a picture and being a bit starstruck by the UFC star.

“I’ve never met him before so,” Hearn said. “So he’s walking down the corridors of the fight. He’s got this massive aura, massive aura! So I was (actually) a bit in awe, you know. I just said ‘crikey can I have a photo mate?”

“[He said] Hey Eddie how’re you doing?’ and I thought ‘fuck well, you know me?’ It was great to have him there.”

What do you think about Hearn’s comments on a potential partnership with McGregor?

The long-awaited rematch between YouTube stars, KSI and Logan Paul is now official.

They first fought on Aug. 25, 2018, where they fought to a draw in KSI’s home country of England. Now, they will run it back at the Staples Center and they will do so as professional fighters. It will be the first time either will fight as a pro.

The event will be put on by Eddie Hearn and shown exclusively on DAZN. While undefeated, Billy Joe Saunders defends his title on the undercard. For Hearn, he knew them being professional was something that needed to happen if he did promote this event.

“13 months ago when the first fight took place I smirked and pondered how embarrassing it would be to stage this event in a 20,000 seater arena,” said promoter Eddie Hearn in a press release. “What I saw was a phenomenon; a sold out arena, over one million PPV buys but more importantly an energy of a new audience to the sport of boxing.

“When I was asked to be involved in the rematch it got me excited but I had some requests to help integrate the two audiences. I requested that both fighters turn professional and undergo the same medicals that any other fighter would. I asked that the fighters lose the headguards and use 10oz gloves, if we are going to do this then let’s do it properly.

“Both men obliged and now they prepare for war on November 9. This event will be huge, a World championship card beneath an event that will create a hype for boxing not seen in the US for a long time. Staples Center will be sold out and a new audience will join our great sport and tune in live on DAZN.”

For KSI, who had boxing experience TKO’ing Joe Weller, while Paul did not, the draw was disappointing. Yet, he is confident going into this fight.

“Finally, after over a year since our rematch, I get to enter the ring once again to fight Logan Paul,” KSI said via a press release. “If I’m being honest, I didn’t fight well at all in the first fight, and even then, I still managed to draw against him.

“This time I won’t make it so close, especially now that it’s a pro fight, no head guards and 10-ounce gloves hahahaha, the time to end him is nearing. I can’t wait to see the memes of him slumped on the ground after I’ve repeatedly beaten the life out of him. He’s facing a different animal this time.”

As for Logan Paul, he has been training since the last fight and knows he has gotten better and says he can’t wait to dismantle his opponents face.

“I’m excited to ruin JJ’s face and I want to thank DAZN for giving me the platform to do so,” said Paul. “Last fight, KSI couldn’t beat me with only three months of training under my belt. For the past year, while JJ has been wasting his time trying to become a rapper, I’ve been training every single day. I’m finally getting what I wanted from the beginning — no headgear, 10-ounce gloves, and the opportunity to dismantle JJ’s repugnant face in Los Angeles, my home city.”
