Former UFC fighter James Irvin has had his fighter’s license suspended by the California state athletic commission after a positive test for a banned substance.

A statement released by the CSAC on Wednesday said Irvin tested positive for epitrenbolone metabolite of trenbolone, an anabolic steroid. The test came from a Dec. 2, 2010 Tachi Palace Fights event in Leemore, California. In his bout, Irvin lost via submission.

it’s the second time Irvin has failed a drug test. In 2008 after a fight with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in Nevada, Irvin tested positive for painkillers methadone and oxymorphone and served a nine-month suspension.

Legislation has been introduced in the state of Connecticut to sanction mixed martial arts.

State representative Matt Lesser recently introduced the proposal and testified before the state legislature’s Public Safety Committee. UFC vice president of government and regulatory affairs Marc Ratner also attended and spoke at a recent hearing at the state capitol.

The bill would regulate the sport while taxing ticket revenue. According to the proposal, five percent of an event’s gross receipts would be paid to the state.

Fresh off his 32-second knockout over former UFC champion Tim Sylvia, Abe Wagner will return to Titan Fighting Championships to take on Aaron Rosa, MMA Fighting has learned.

Wagner, who competed on season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter, holds an 8-3 record after capturing wins in five of his last six fights.

In January, Wagner was set to face Todd Duffee until Duffee took another opportunity, and Sylvia stepped in to replace him. After an exchange against the fence, Wagner caught Sylvia with a right hand behind the ear. Wagner drove Sylvia backwards until drilling him with a pair of flush shots that put Sylvia down and caused the referee to stop the action.

Mixed martial artist Dan Lauzon suffered a non-life threatening stab wound during a late night fight in a Bridgewater, Mass. pub parking lot, according to a published report from local paper The Enterprise.

The newspaper’s website originally named the 22-year-old in its report before removing his name. A source close to Lauzon confirmed to MMA Fighting that the original report was accurate and that Lauzon needed stitches to close a cut.

His brother, UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon, wrote a blog post that indirectly addressed the situation, writing, “Luckily everything was okay and it wasn’t a big deal as was originally thought.”
