Nick Diaz Is Alive and Well Driving Around Cali and Vlogging About How He’s the Victim Here

(Video courtesy of YouTube/NickDiaz209)

You would think that after screwing up badly enough to have a title shot yanked away and with your future career with your employer hanging by a thread as a result, you might want to, I don’t know, apologize and show some sort of emotion that resembles remorse for your actions.

If you’re Nick Diaz, you pretty much do the opposite of that.

Diaz killed all speculation that he was possibly passed out in an alley somewhere in Stockton, when, just hours after news broke that because of back-to-back missed media appearances his UFC 137 shot at welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre would instead go to Carlos Condit, he posted a video blog titled, “Looks like someone don’t want me to win!” in which he complained once again that he was getting screwed over by pretty much everyone, from UFC president Dana White to his longtime manager and trainer Cesar Gracie.

“I’m trying to get back to Stockton here. I was out in San Francisco at the last minute trying to get on an airplane this morning trying to get to a press conference for the UFC wanted me to fight for the title against Georges St-Pierre and now they’re telling me that they’re going to give the fight to Carlos Conduit, which I think is ridiculous and Georges thinks it’s a great idea because Carlos Conduit poses an even greater threat,” Diaz pointed out. “So I guess that just leaves me out. It’s funny, one second I’m about to come into some money, do a little boxing, you know, fucking probably lose some teeth. But I’m ready to get paid, you know? So I’ll fight whoever, whatever, you know. Anything. I’d definitely rather fight GSP, you know. I was ready to do some boxing, but they didn’t like that, so they got me out of that and they got me in a fight with GSP for the same money or more money or whatever. But now it looks like they get to save money and I don’t get paid.”

First off, how till the UFC save money when all of the billboards, print ads and video promos will have to be recut on top of a metric shit ton of other expenses they’ll have to incur because of the change of opponent? You can bet Dana will make it well worth Condit’s while to step up and take the bout as well.

Still, Nick thinks he’s the one getting screwed here.

“I’m locked in a contract and all these dealmakers making deals. I don’t know. All I know is I’m ready to fight, so I’m sorry I didn’t make it to the beauty pageant, but, you know, I’ve never not showed up to a fight,” he explained, like it excused his failure to meet his press obligations this week. “I’ve never backed out of a fight in my life. That’s not what I do, so I just wanted to throw all that out there. What are you gonna do? I’m ready to fight. I’m pretty much done here. You know what I mean? This is what it’s, you know? So peace out.”

So for those keeping score at home, according to Diaz he was duped by the “deal makers” (likely meaning Gracie and White) to turn his back on his boxing dreams to instead sign with the UFC, which would pay the same type of money and give him more opportunities than fighting cans and has-beens, but because he didn’t feel like going to this week’s “beauty pageants” he now won’t get to fight or make any money, which is ridiculous.

Somebody needs to explain the basic principles of economics to this poor sociopath.

Screw it, I’ll do it.

Nick, if you don’t work, you don’t get paid. A big part of your job is to promote your fights. You didn’t do your job and now you’re suspended without pay. If you weren’t fighting, McDonald’s would likely have instituted the same punishment had you refused to clean the grease traps, so quit playing the victim who thinks everyone is out to get him. The Man isn’t holding you back. Your immaturity and bad decisions are. Know what I’m sayin’?

Don’t be scared to say sorry, homie.

Let the Irresponsible Speculation Begin: Where the Hell is Nick Diaz?

Since nobody knows where the hell in Central Valley Team Cesar Gracie’s biggest introvert is, we figured why not have our readers tell us what they think Nick Diaz ended up doing the past couple days that was so much more important than doing his job.

Since nobody knows where the hell in Central Valley Team Cesar Gracie’s best known sociopath is, we figured why not have our readers tell us what they think Nick Diaz ended up doing the past couple days that was so much more important than, you know, doing his job.

Rumor has it he was watching an auction for a set of gold nunchucks on Ebay and lost track of the past 72 hours, but that could just be the plot of CP’s first Nick Diaz-inspired comic. We can’t remember which one it is.

Anyway, let the irresponsible speculation begin, Potato Nation.

Nick Diaz Sneaks Out Gracie’s Back Door and Goes MIA for Press Tour, Condit Gets His Title-Shot

In a UFC 137 press conference today, there was Georges St. Pierre sitting in a chair, Dana White standing next to him and an empty chair on Dana’s left hand side where Nick Diaz should.

In a UFC 137 press conference today, there was Georges St. Pierre sitting in a chair, Dana White standing next to him and an empty chair on Dana’s left hand side where Nick Diaz should have been sitting. But Dana caught news early this morning that Nick Diaz wasn’t going to make his flight. He did not show up to the Toronto presser yesterday but White was assured it was due to Diaz accidentally missing his flight and he would definitely make it to the Las Vegas press conference in Mandalay Bay today. But, as it turns out, though Diaz was on lock down last night in trainer, Cesar Gracie‘s home so he could be driven first thing in the morning to the airport to fly to Vegas, he apparently snuck out the back door and has been MIA.

Dana White felt forced to make the call and offer the title-shot to a seemingly much more deserving opponent and one who he is sure will show up to the fight on October 29th, Carlos Condit. The most shocking part of this news was that Diaz was unaware until the time of the conference that he’d been pulled from the fight with Georges St. Pierre.  Also, BJ Penn who was scheduled to fight Carlos Condit in the co-main event that evening is now currently without an opponent. Penn had not been informed of the match-up change either, prior to the press conference.

The conference was filled with highlights, including Cesar Gracie’s cell phone call to Dana, who answered the call mid-presser and let us know that Gracie apologized, agreed with White’s decision and expressed their team’s embarrassment with the situation.

No one can offer any reasons for Nick Diaz to disappear. Yet, Dana asked a poignant question in the presser, “are any of you surprised?” There were moments of comedy in the conference in regard to Diaz’s behavior, twice even GSP bent his head to the table, laughing, especially upon hearing Diaz’s last stint in the UFC had ended with him in a fist fight at the hospital. But this really is no laughing matter for UFC who have already spent a pretty penny promoting the fight, and even in just flight costs alone for Diaz. It’s also no laughing matter for Nick Diaz who seems to have choked on the most important opportunity he could ever have in his career. Dana was quite clear Diaz would have received a huge monetary payoff for this fight. Though Dana has not commit to cutting Diaz from the UFC promotion, one wonders where Diaz goes from here. And for now, that’s all we can do, wait and wonder.

Of course, the show must go on. Congratulations, Carlos Condit.

Nick Diaz Pulls a Nick Diaz, No-Showing for UFC 137 Press Week and Losing Title Shot Against GSP to Carlos Condit

(Too bad, so sad, Nick. Maybe ProElite will have you.)

You would think Nick Diaz would have taken Dana White’s warning that he better start “playing the game” when he re-signed him to the UFC. Apparently he doesn’t know the two golden rules: One, Dana White always wins and two, Dana White never forgets.

Case in point, after not showing up for a scheduled press conference in Toronto on Tuesday, Diaz once again went MIA for another presser today in Las Vegas, and as a result White yanked away his UFC 137 title shot against Georges St-Pierre and instead gave it to former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit.

An obviously infuriated White, who said that in 1600 events he has promoted he has never had such issues with unprofessionalism with a fighter, broke the news via a highlight reel featuring Condit and St-Pierre. He explained that they twice rescheduled Diaz’s flight and that neither he nor Nick’s longtime trainer Cesar Gracie have been able to reach the sociopathic former Strikeforce champion since Monday. During the event today, Gracie called White to tell him he agrees wholeheartedly with his decision to swap opponents and apologized for his fighter’s lack of professionalism. White revealed that Gracie had Diaz cornered in his house after he finally found the AWOL fighter on Monday and that Diaz snuck out the back door when his coach’s back was turned. Gracie has been chasing him all over Stockton ever since.

St-Pierre, who says he has never trained with Condit despite being under the same Team Jackson banner, believes that “The Natural Born Killer” is a more well-rounded opponent than Diaz and it’s unlikely that he will have to worry about him dropping out of the fight.

“I want to say thank-you to Carlos for stepping up and taking the big fight,” St-Pierre said.

As far as Condit’s scheduled UFC 137 opponent, BJ Penn, White said that he hasn’t told the former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion that the fight is off, but said he has another opponent in the works for “The Prodigy” that will make people say he’s crazy if he gets it done.

White stopped short of saying whether or not Diaz would be cut for his actions, but judging by the damage he’s caused from tickets having to be reprinted to new ads and trailers having to be cut, there’s a pretty good chance.

UFC 137 Trash-Talk Alert: Cesar Gracie Blasts GSP’s ‘Ultimate Stalling’

George St. Pierre‘s genius as an MMA fighter is his ability to put his opponents exactly where they don’t want to be. Against strikers (see: Alves, Hardy), that usually means St. Pierre taking top position on the mat and not giving them an inch of space. Against wrestlers (see: Koscheck, Shields), it usually means keeping the fight standing and jabbing them into a living death.

But in both cases, it hasn’t translated into dramatic finishes recently. Aside from his corner-stoppage win over BJ Penn at UFC 94, the last time that GSP has legitimately TKO’d or submitted an opponent was during his rematch with Matt Serra, over three years ago. Now two months away from his UFC 137 title defense against Nick Diaz, St. Pierre has picked up a reputation among some fans and observers as a “safe” fighter. One of his recent critics is Diaz’s trainer/manager Cesar Gracie, who shared some less-than-kind words to Full Contact Fighter:

The thing is it’s really not my business how he fights; he’s not on my team, so, I truly don’t care how he fights. Now if you’re asking me as a fan, yeah, that style is not what I like to watch. I like to watch guys that just go completely for it, take chances, and give crowds what they want, which is ‘Ultimate Fighting,’ not ‘ultimate stalling’ or anything like that.”

If Gracie is just saying that to get under St. Pierre’s skin and insult him into fighting a different kind of fight against Nick Diaz, well, his strategy probably won’t work. But from a fan’s perspective, he has a point. Keep in mind that Georges St. Pierre was unable to finish Dan Hardy in 25 minutes when they fought at UFC 111, while Carlos Condit subsequently knocked Hardy out in the first round, and Chris Lytle tapped him in the third. That seems to imply something about GSP’s finishing ability and/or risk-aversion.

Meanwhile, Nick Diaz’s current ten-fight win streak includes six TKOs and three submissions. Admittedly, Diaz’s level of competition hasn’t always been as high as GSP’s, but it’s obvious that when both fighters enter a cage, the objective is different. One is looking to win, the other is looking to kill.

So whose strategy will prove more effective when they meet on October 29th? And does GSP’s decision-streak affect your enjoyment of his fights?

Five Ways For Jon Fitch to Get Another Title Shot

(Sometimes winning and heart aren’t enough. Just ask Vince McMahon.)

During an appearance on Steve Cofield and Kevin Iole’s ESPNRadio1100/98.9 FM’s “The MMA Insiders” show on Friday, UFC president Dana White made it clear that in spite of the fact that Jon Fitch has not lost since dropping a decision to Georges St-Pierre three years ago, the American Kickboxing Academy captain won’t likely get a title shot anytime soon because the fight is a tough one to sell.

“Everybody is saying ‘Jon Fitch is one of the best in the world, when is he fighting GSP?’ The problem is he went in and fought GSP and got destroyed,” White explained like it happened a month ago. “I mean GSP completely dominated him from the first round to the fifth round and beat him up and dropped him and everything else…”

It’s funny, Kenny Florian keeps getting title shots and the UFC has been trying to put together a rematch between Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans despite how the last ones went.

But we digress.

Instead of scratching our heads over the UFC’s double standards when it comes to earning a title shot, we’ve come up with five suggestions for Fitch to get what he has coming to him since winning doesn’t seem to be enough.
