Off the back of his spectacular title victory earlier this month at UFC 293, newly-crowned middleweight champion, Sean Strickland has been spotted chasing Monster Energy rep, Hans Molenkamp throughout a gym with a fully functional and lit flamethrower – appearing to singe some hair on the arm of the latter.

Strickland, the newly-minted undisputed middleweight champion, headlined UFC 293 two weeks ago in Sydney, Australia – defeating former two-time titleholder, Israel Adesanya in a one-sided unanimous decision win – scoring one of the biggest upsets wins in UFC title fight antiquity.

And already hitting the headlines following his title win, hugely-outspoken Covina native, Sean Strickland had to repair his actual championship belt in some makeshift fashion in his return to the United States – duct taping a right side panel of the title to the leather belt.

Continuing in his provocative behavior following his championship coronation in Australia, footage has emerged of Strickland chasing the above-mentioned Molenkamp throughout a gym, all while armed with a fully lit flamethrower

Yet to be booked to make his first attempted defense of the middleweight crown in the immediate aftermath of UFC 293, Strickland has been pegged to potentially defend his title in an immediate championship rematch against the above-mentioned, Adesanya.

Furthermore, the Californian has also received call outs from the surging number one ranked, Dricus du Plessis, as well as one-time title challenger, Jared Cannonier – whom defeated Strickland before his championship win in a close, debated decision victory back in Decemebr atop a UFC Apex facility card.

Remaining coy on his fighting future following his title win, Strickland is currently on vacation with his girlfriend – whom has been credited with making a huge difference in the newly-crowned champion’s life prior to his title win.

Rampage Jackson Defends Monster Exec Hans Molenkamp

Rampage Jackson

MMA legend, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, has leaped to the defence of Hans Molenkamp who is currently under investigation by Monster Energy following several accusations Dominick Cruz made post-fight at UFC 259.

Cruz was fresh off his first win since 2016 when he called out Molenkamp.

The former bantamweight champion picked up a split decision victory against 135lb prospect, Casey Kenney.

‘The Dominator’ proposed a charity fight with the Monster employee who he claims has been using sponsorship deals to gain personal favours from MMA’s biggest stars.

“Look at my face, look at my body, I get beat to death for a living,” Cruz said. “So when you try to force me and you text me if I don’t comment on your page, if I don’t give you an interview, that you’re going to take what pays my bills? What are we doing? Monster sponsors me, not you.”

During a recent interview with MMA Junkie, ‘Rampage’ defended Hans who has come under substantial criticism since Cruz called him out.

“I hang out with Hans when we do Monster shoots and things like,” Jackson said. “Hans will ask you, ‘Let’s do this sh*t for the Internet, for social media,’ but everybody does that now. If you’re a fighter or anything, and you’re hanging out with your peers or your people, people are going to ask you to do some sh*t.

Jackson believes Molenkamp would never threaten to take away sponsorship deals.

“No way will Hans ever ask people, ‘Do this post for me or you’re not going to get a sponsorship,’ That sh*t is f*cking stupid,” Rampage concluded.

Dominick Cruz Has Spoken With Monster Energy, Still Wants To Fight Hans Molenkamp

UFC Bantamweight legend Dominick Cruz had quite a post fight callout after his big Split Decision win over up and coming Casey Kenney this past weekend at UFC 259. Cruz called for a charity fight with Hans Molenkamp, a business development rep with Cruz’s longtime sponsor and a huge UFC sponsor in Monster Energy. Cruz was interviewed by James Lynch this week and had a few things to say regarding the callout:

“The company has reached out to me and they were very open-minded with me at the top,” Cruz told James Lynch. “…They reached out and they were very open-minded and they were hearing my side. I couldn’t really do that before. If you think about it, I’ve been with Monster seven-plus years and because of the person that I spoke about, if I was to talk to that person the way I did yesterday, I would have gotten a flood of text, a flood of calls like ‘What are you doing? Why are you talking to the bosses? You can’t be doing that, man, because then they start asking me questions.’ Like, why can’t I do that? So it was nice to get that call and it was nice to have that talk without hearing from that person.”

Monster Energy did end up reaching out to the future hall of famer, and so did the man he called out, Hans Molenkamp.

“That person has reached out to me but all he did was take a screenshot of our text message conversation before I did the post-fight interview,” Cruz said. “There was no words. It was just a screenshot of our conversation. So it was very passive aggressive, very his way of doing things. No communication just what does that even mean? He always pretends to be my friend to my face and then does shady things.”

While Molenkamp has yet to publicly address this situation, the former Bantamweight champ did say that this made more noise than he initially had anticipated, “I didn’t expect it to blow up like this. I just wanted to get – to me it’s a win-win. He’s gonna have a problem with me so let him get it out on me if he wants and charity wins. Like, legitimately. I fight people for a living. This isn’t new to me. When I fight somebody, I’m not mad at Casey Kenney I don’t hate him. We’re fighting, this is what it is. He brags a lot about being that so he’s in the same boat now. Let’s give you the opportunity.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

While it seems pretty unlikely that this charity fight will ever take place, MMA is a world where “never say never” can be the truest of statements. Cruz meanwhile, has inserted himself back into the top 10 of one of the best divisions in the sport, and should be in line for another high profile fight against a top contender later this year.

Monster Energy has responded to the claims made against Hans Molenkamp by Dominick Cruz.

Following his victory over Casey Kenney at UFC 259, Cruz used his post-fight interview to call for a charity fight against Molenkamp. According to Cruz, Molenkamp – a business development rep with the energy drink company – has used his position for personal gains. The former bantamweight champion alleges that Molenkamp has tied sponsorship payouts to his personal social media posts and interviews. He says there are others in the UFC who have similar complaints, including president Dana White.

“Look at my face, look at my body, I get beat to death for a living,” Cruz said. “So when you try to force me and you text me if I don’t comment on your page, if I don’t give you an interview, that you’re going to take what pays my bills? What are we doing? Monster sponsors me, not you.”

“We take any such allegations seriously and are looking into it at this time,” a Monster spokesperson wrote to MMA Fighting. No further details were offered.

Molenkamp is a longtime MMA practitioner and supporter who has served as a link between Monster and the UFC for over a decade. White confirmed that he and several other fighters on his roster have had issues with Molenkamp, but ultimately it was up to Monster whether they take action or not. He also said that as a whole, the Monster partnership has been good for the company and fighters alike.

“Is Hans a goofy dude? Yeah, he’s a very goofy dude,” White said. “But they’re a sponsor. These guys are a sponsor, they’re great sponsors, [and] they pay these guys a lot of money… It’s a privilege to get money from a sponsor. So if you don’t like the way they do business, don’t do business with them.”

According to reports, a phone number that has been used by Molenkamp in the past had been disconnected as of Monday. Molenkamp has not responded to the allegations on social media. His most recent posts are dedicated to a GoFundMe page collecting money to cover his late MMA coach’s funeral costs. Most of the comments on the posts have been about the Cruz callout.
