Gina Carano Has an Interesting Explanation for Her Voice-Replacement in ‘Haywire’

(I’m only posting this photo because Bill Paxton is one of the greatest American character actors of the last 30 years. That’s Bill Paxton, right? Or is it Bill Pullman. I can never keep those two straight. Anyway, daaaaaamn.)

While reporting on the New York premiere of Haywire for Fightlinker, author Matthew Polly landed a one-on-one interview with star Gina Carano, in which he got Gina to confirm what we all suspected — that you’re not hearing her actual voice in the film:

POLLY: [W]hen I was listening to the movie your voice sounded a little different to me. I know this has been brought up in other media outlets but I didn’t know if they tweaked the sound or that’s just how it came out in the movie.

GINA: Yeah absolutely and I’m surprised that hasn’t come up sooner. Stephen Soderberg wanted Mallory Kane [the character she plays in the movie] to be a completely different entity than Gina Carano. So he definitely went in and I went in to AVR and he did some tweaking. We all knew that that was going to come up because people know me so well in the MMA world. But he is quite a genius in what he has created and it still was an honor to be a part of it.

Even though it might not sound exactly like me, there are still parts of me that are in there. But he just wanted to make sure that that entity was completely different from myself…Yeah, everyone was a little curious about that. And I don’t blame anyone for being curious about it. But if I was bald and they had given me the voice of Bill Clinton I still would have done the movie.

Which begs the obvious question: If Gina Carano were bald and had the voice of Bill Clinton, would you still want to have sex with her? (Rules: No wigs allowed. Carano would be discussing health-care policy the whole time.)

Gina Carano’s Haywire Co-Stars Think She’s Pretty Awesome

(Video courtesy of Access Hollywood)

Access Hollywood was on hand at last week’s Haywire premiere in Hollywood and got the chance to speak with a few members of the film’s cast, including its star, Gina Carano.

Channing Tatum, Bill Paxton and Obi Wan Kenobi all had great things to say about first-time actress, Carano. Hopefully the buttering up they gave her doesn’t persuade her to turn her back on MMA forever in favor of craft services and private posh trailers.

With Cyborg gone, Strikeforce needs a female champ and would you really want to go out knowing your last and only loss came against a cheater? I’m talking to you, Gina. Is that how you’re gonna go out? Fine. But remember that you’re only as good as your last fight, which means you’re a loser.

I’m sorry, Gina. I didn’t mean that. I was just upset that you wouldn’t return any of our calls requesting an interview. I’m sure you did just fine with your movie. We’ll go see it on the opening weekend. Actually we’ll go se it twice, but only because we’re fans of your work in the cage.

Anyway, I should be going. GNC has a sale on tainted supplements.

Gina Carano is a Good Actress Say Her Co-Stars (VIDEO)

Gina Carano‘s debut film, Haywire (which was said to be written and made for her by renowned director and MMA fan, Steven Soderbergh) had its red-carpet premiere this weekend. Access Hollywood was out seeking some.

Gina Carano‘s debut film, Haywire (which was said to be written and made for her by renowned director and MMA fan, Steven Soderbergh) had its red-carpet premiere this weekend. Access Hollywood was out seeking some good Gina Carano acting reviews from her co-stars.  Such positive comments about Carano included, “She’s a proper fighter” said Ewan McGregor and “She’s maybe the second best athlete that I ever worked with” said Channing Tatum.

We are pretty proud of our beautiful Gina Carano who is again helping to bolster the MMA sport by starring in her own mainstream action film and we’re also proud because we’re 97 percent sure that she doesn’t take steroids. After the video, check out Carano’s date to the premiere. Think he could have worn a suit, eh? What a scrub.
