Things came to an early end in the light heavyweight affair between Magomed Ankalaev and Ion Cutelaba at UFC Norfolk on Saturday night.

Cutelaba was rocked early by a hook from Ankalaev as the latter started to pour things on. Cutelaba was clearly hurt but was still in the fight as he was swinging back.

However, the referee took matters in his own hands as he stopped the fight much to the crowd and Cutelaba’s disappointment who protested immediately.

Round 1: Cutelaba kicks things off with a leg kick. He attempts a body kick soon after. Ankalaev responds with some hooks that wobble Cutelaba. Ankalaev goes on the offensive with body kicks and head kicks. Cutelaba is hurt and wobbled but he’s still in the fight. However, the referee stops it as Cutelaba protests instantly. The crowd is certainly not happy.

Ion Cutelaba backed up his pre-fight antics with a dominant win over Khalil Rountree at UFC Copenhagen.

Rountree was fresh off a dominant win over Eryk Anders but that didn’t matter to Cutelaba who took him down multiple times.

“The Hulk” connected with a number of elbows that opened up Rountree before landing brutal ground and pound until the referee called an end to the bout. That makes it three wins in his last four outings for Cutelaba.
