UFC bantamweight Ricky Simon has predicted a finish in his next fight against Jack Shore.
Ricky Simon will face off against Jack Shore this July 16 at UFC on ABC 3 – Ortega vs. Rodriguez in New York. Simon is coming off an incredible knockout win over the veteran Raphael Assuncao in his most recent outing last December.
Shore goes into the bout undefeated in 16 fights with five of them coming under the UFC banner. Simon will be looking to extend his win streak to five and hand Shore the first loss of his professional career.
Ricky Simon predicts a finish against Jack Shore
In an interview with LowKick MMA, Ricky Simon predicted a finish for the fight with the use of his American-style wrestling. The 29-year-old Washington native spoke about how he feels more confident inside the octagon having gained more experience with time. His aim has evolved to not just win but to score a bonus as well.
When probed whether Shore’s unblemished record impacts him mentally, Simon remained confident he will be the one to beat ‘Tank’.
“Not at all, man. He’s 16 and 0 but I’m the one,” he said. “I’ve been telling everybody I’m going to be his first loss. He’s undefeated as an amateur, undefeated as a pro but he’s never fought anybody like me. I was there too man, I was undefeated as an amateur. I must’ve been like 11 and 0. At one point of my career, I was 15 and 1 so very similar to this guy. I’ve been there too but the difference is I’ve fought tougher competition.”
“The prediction for the fight is Imma use my good old American wrestling and Imma control where the fight goes and Imma keep these finishes coming. I just got a knockout over a legend of the division, Raphael Assuncao. I’m so comfortable in there now I feel, the finishes are going to keep coming.”
UFC on ABC 3 headlined by Brian Ortega vs. Yair Rodriguez
Brian Ortega and Yair Rodriguez are set to square off in the main event of the July 16th card in Elmont, New York. The event marks the third UFC broadcast on ABC’s broadcast television network. With divisional champion Alexander Volkanovski scheduled to take on Max Holloway a third time for UFC 276 this July 2, Ortega and Rodriguez will look to edge over one another in a bid to get a title shot.
Both headliners are in the top five of UFC lightweight rankings. Their bout will likely serve as an eliminator contest to set up a fight with the winner of Volkanovski vs. Holloway 3. Ortega is a former title challenger who came close to snatching the gold from ‘The Great’ at UFC 266 last September.
Do you think Ricky Simon will hand Jack Shore the first loss of his career?

On Monday, May 16, a host of UFC fights were announced for this summer, and MMA News is here to give you a rundown of all the matchups!
With bouts announced across multiple divisions, including amongst the stacked bantamweight, lightweight, and welterweight rosters, as well as the bookings of a number of fan-favorite fighters, these scraps are bound to deliver some entertaining action.
Check them out below and see which excites you the most.
UFC Lightweight: Brad Riddell vs. Jalin Turner – July 2
How about this for an intriguing matchup? UFC 276 just got more exciting with the addition of entertaining lightweights Brad Riddell (10-2) and Jalin Turner (12-5). The pair will meet on the July 2 pay-per-view card, which is scheduled for International Fight Week.
Having been the victim of a vicious wheel-kick finish last December, Riddell will look to rebound against the unranked Turner, who is riding a four-fight win streak. After an impressive TKO win against Jamie Mullarkey earlier this year, “The Tarantula” has earned a crack at adding a number next to his name.
This bout was confirmed by Iridium Sports Agency, the team that manages Turner.
UFC Bantamweight: Ricky Simón vs. Jack Shore – July 16
Perhaps the most important matchup put together in terms of divisional rankings sees undefeated bantamweight prospect Jack Shore (16-0) square off against experienced campaigner Ricky Simón (19-3).
Since arriving in the Octagon in 2019, Shore has maintained his perfect professional record with five Octagon triumphs, including submissions of Nohelin Hernandez and Aaron Phillips. Most recently, the Welshman thrilled the UK crowd at UFC London with unanimous decision victory over Timur Valiev, a win that eventually aided his ascent into the rankings, where he currently occupies the #14 slot.
Simón, who sits two places above “Tank” on the bantamweight ladder, is in similarly impressive form. The nine-fight promotional veteran has won four straight, including a December 2021 knockout victory over the ranked Raphael Assunção.
UFC Featherweight: Billy Quarantillo vs. Bill Algeo – July 16
In the featherweight division, the always-entertaining Billy Quarantillo (16-4) is set for his first appearance of 2022. At the July 16 UFC Fight Night, he’ll take on former CFFC champion Bill Algeo (15-6).
Since earning a contract through Dana White’s Contender Series in 2019, Quarantillo has gone 4-2 inside the Octagon. Across his last four outings, “Billy Q” has traded wins and losses, having his hand raised against Kyle Nelson and Gabriel Benitez, while falling to defeats against Gavin Tucker and, in a wild fight at UFC 268 last November, the ranked Shane Burgos.
While Quarantillo will look to rebound on July 16, Algeo will be fighting to secure back-to-back wins for the first time in his UFC career. In his 2-2 promotional slate, “Señor Perfecto” has outpointed Spike Carlyle and Joanderson Brito, but lost on the scorecards to a pair of Ricardos in Lamas and Ramos.
This matchup was first reported by Sherdog’s Tudor Leonte.
UFC Welterweight: Li Jingliang vs. Muslim Salikhov – July 16
If your plate hasn’t been filled with July 16 news, here’s a third bout announced for that particular UFC Fight Night card, this time in the welterweight division.
Per MMA Fight Universe, #13-ranked contender Li Jingliang (18-7) will make his first appearance since being decimated by Khamzat Chimaev this summer. In his way of a successful rebound will be elite striker Muslim Salikhov (18-2).
While “The Leech” will look to maintain his spot in the rankings and return to the kind of form that saw him brutally knock Santiago Ponzinibbio out last January, the “King of Kung Fu” will be targeting a sixth addition to his win streak, which has seen him collect victories over the likes of Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Francisco Trinaldo.
UFC Lightweight: Drew Dober vs. Rafael Alves – July 30
In another potential banger, this time at 155 pounds, lightweight veteran Drew Dober (24-11-1) will throw down with DWCS alum Rafael Alves (20-10) at UFC 277 on July 30, per MMA Fight Universe.
The formerly ranked Dober has been a mainstay in the Octagon since 2013, a period in which he’s faced the likes of Beneil Dariush and Islam Makhachev. Having rebounded from a two-fight losing skid last time out with a memorable come-from-behind TKO of the highly-touted Terrance McKinney, the entertaining Nebraskan will look to edge closer to the rankings against Alves.
The Brazilian has gone 1-1 in the Octagon since earning a contract. Following a decision loss to Damir Ismagulov last May, “The Turn” entered the win column in the UFC for the first time with a first-round submission victory over Marc Diakiese six months later.
UFC Middleweight: Gerald Meerschaert vs. Bruno Silva – August 13
Finally, in another intriguing scrap, this time in the middleweight division, veteran submission specialist Gerald Meerschaert (34-15) will share the Octagon with Brazilian brawler Bruno Silva (22-7).
After back-to-back losses, including a 17-second KO setback to Khamzat Chimaev, Meerschaert found form with three consecutive wins, all of which came via submission. Having failed to maintain his streak last time out against Krzysztof Jotko, “GM3” will hope to avoid falling to a losing skid when he battles Silva.
“Blindado” will also be targeting a rebound performance having had his lengthy win streak ended. After seven consecutive victories, including three UFC knockouts, Silva fell short in a memorable three-round fight against world-class kickboxer Alex Pereira earlier this year.
Per Brazilian outlet Ag.Fight, the pair will collide at the UFC event slated for August 13, where it’ll be 19 KOs versus 26 submissions.

UFC bantamweight prospect Jack Shore has big aspirations for his time on MMA’s biggest stage, including a quest to bring the promotion to Wales.
In a talent-stacked 135-pound division, a host of prospects are emerging, some of whom would perhaps already be ranked had they been part of a less talent-filled roster. One of those individuals is UK MMA star Shore.
At just 26 years of age, the Welshman has emerged as a future star at bantamweight. Shore, a former cage Warriors champion, boasts an unblemished 15-0 record that includes 12 finishes, eight by way of submission.
Since arriving in the UFC in 2019, “Tank” has extended his unbeaten record with four triumphs, two of which came over Hunter Azure and Liudvik Sholinian.
Now, for the first time in his UFC career, Shore is set to fight on home soil, sort of…
At UFC London on March 19, a card that represents the promotion’s return to England for the first time since 2019, Shore will face his toughest test to date in the form of Russia’s Timur Valiev. He was initially scheduled to face Umar Nurmagomedov that month, but after the highly-touted cousin of Khabib Nurmagomedov pulled out, his compatriot Valiev stepped in.
While it may not be a fight in his home country, Shore told LowKick MMA it’s about as close as he can get to one at the moment.
“It’s the closest we’re going to get to a hometown fight at the minute is London,” Shore said. “We are a bit of a way from me being able to call for a Cardiff card.”
Shore: Wales Card Would Be “A Dream Come True”
While he admits it’s a distant possibility, Shore boasts aspirations of bringing the UFC to his own backyard down the line. Hoping to follow in the footsteps of Conor McGregor and Michael Bisping, who took the promotion to Dublin and Manchester, respectively, “Tank” wants to experience a Wales crowd cheering him on down the line.
For it to happen, however, Shore believes a new arena needs to be made, with the only current options in Cardiff being too small, or too big.
“Yeah, I think so (I’ll be the one to bring the UFC to Wales). At the minute, I think there’s three of us from Wales in the UFC,” said Shore. “I’m in a position at the minute where I’m probably the closest to being in those rankings and fighting those big names and becoming a bit of a, you know, getting that chance to finally break through into the mainstream a little bit.
“It is something I obviously wanna do,” added Shore. “At the minute, venue-wise in Wales, we’ve got an indoor arena, but it only seats like 8,000. And we’ve got the Millennium Stadium, which seats 80,000. So, we’re a bit two ends of the scale at the minute. If they can knock us up like a 20,000-seater, then I can start to get in Dana (White’s) and Sean (Shelby’s) ear.”
Nevertheless, Shore believes if everything falls into place in his career he can turn his homecoming dream into a reality.
“Obviously I’d love to do it, and I’d love to just fight on a UFC card in Wales, but to be the guy that brought it to Wales like how Conor (McGregor) brought it back to Dublin, or how Bisping took it to Manchester, would be insane, it would be a dream come true. So, who knows what the future holds. Obviously, that’d be a dream of mine. Never say never. It’s not too far away. it’s just a case of the right timing and things falling into place,” concluded Shore.
To make it happen, Shore’s goal is simple: continue winning and continue climbing the bantamweight ladder.
With a victory over Valiev at UFC London, Shore will certainly take a big step closer towards the rankings. From there, it’ll be big names and a big rise to the top should he maintain his unbeaten start in the UFC. Perhaps a UFC Cardiff event won’t be too far down the line soon after.

UFC bantamweight prospect Jack Shore is hoping he’ll be the man that will eventually convince the MMA leader to hold an event in Wales.
Shore is set to face Timur Valiev on March 19 on a show that is expected to take place in London. During a recent interview with LowKickMMA, the 26-year-old admitted fighting on an event in the English capital is as close to home he can hope for, at least for now.
“It’s the closest we’re going to get to a hometown fight at the minute is London,” Shore said. “We are a bit of a way from me being able to call for a Cardiff card.
Ultimately, Shore is confident that he’ll be able to convince Dana White and the UFC to make the trip to Wales, although he understands that there are a lot of obstacles to overcome before that can happen.
“I think at the minute there’s three of us from Wales in the UFC,” Shore said. “I’m in a position, at the minute, where I’m the closest to those rankings and fighting those big names and getting that chance to finally break through into the mainstream a little bit.
Jack Shore Wants To Follow In The Footsteps Of Conor McGregor & Michael Bisping
“It is obviously something I want to do,” Shore added. “At the minute, venue wise in Wales. We’ve got an indoor arena but it only seats like 8,000 and we’ve got The Millennium Stadium which seats 80,000. So we’re a bit at two ends of the scale at the minute. With one Russian prospect out, another one steps in to take on Jack Shore on the March 19 UFC Fight Night card.
According to Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA, Jack Shore will take now be taking on Timur Valiev instead of Umar Nurmagomedov as originally planned. The event is currently scheduled to take place in England.
Jack Shore (15-0) is coming off a decision win over Liudvik Sholinian back in September who took the fight on short notice. He was supposed to face Said Nurmagomedov on the card but he was forced out of the bout. The Welsh fighter is 4-0 in the UFC with his other wins over Hunter Azure, Aaron Phillips, and Nohelin Hernandez. The 26-year-old is also the former Cage Warriors bantamweight champion.
Timur Valiev is 18-2 and is unbeaten in his last eight fights. He had originally lost his UFC debut to Trevin Jones last year, but that outcome was overturned to a no-contest after Jones tested positive for marijuana. Most recently, Valiev defeated Raoni Barcelos via majority decision at UFC Fight Night: Gane vs. Volkov in June 2021.
With this fight swap, here is the updated lineup for the UFC London card on March 19.

UFC bantamweight prospect, Jack Shore believes his divisional rival, Sean O’Malley, “definitely” wants to fight the best opponents despite the fact ‘Suga’ says otherwise.
O’Malley caused a stir recently when he admitted he is actively avoiding tough fights at this stage of his career. The 26-year-old explained that his stance was mainly due to his current contract with the UFC which does not reward him for accepting fights against ranked opponents.
“I get what he’s saying, to an extent,” Shore said. “Obviously, he’s going to get paid the same whether it’s the best in the world or someone unranked.
Ultimately though, Shore says ‘Suga’, like everybody else in the UFC, wants to be the best, and to do that you’ve got to beat the best.
“If they offered a guy who’s ranked 25th or they offer him a guy who’s ranked five – who do you think he’s gonna take? As much as we do what we do to provide for the family and make our money at the same time, of course, he wants to be the best in the world,” Shore said.
“After his last fight, I think he called out Dominick Cruz, Cody Garbrandt, and someone else. So, obviously, he wants to fight those top guys. But, at the same time, he’s a very big draw. So perhaps he’s holding out to get that paycheque that he thinks he’s worth,” Shored added. “I don’t think personally that he doesn’t have desire to fight those top guys. He knows ultimately that’s where he wants to be and that’s the guys he wants to fight. I think he’s just very good at marketing himself.
“You know, the guy he fought last time. If he can make the same money fighting him (Kris Moutinho) or fighting someone like Jose Aldo, I suppose what he’s saying makes a little bit of sense – but at the same time we all want to be the best in the world and we wouldn’t be in the UFC if we didn’t,” Shore concluded. “So, make no mistake, I know he’s good at saying these things but he definitely wants to be fighting those top dogs – that’s a fact!
Do you agree with Jack Shore? Does Sean O’Malley want to fight the best?
