Blachowicz will look to defend his light heavyweight title a second time when he faces Glover Teixeira in the UFC 267 headliner taking place next weekend in Abu Dhabi.
Of course, his first title defense came at UFC 259 back in March when he outpointed Israel Adesanya and not only ended his dream of becoming a simultaneous two-weight champion, but also inflicted his first defeat.
However, Blachowicz is open to the possibility still provided Adesanya earns his shot rather than getting an immediate title shot again.
“Yeah, why not? It’s possible,” Blachowicz said in a recent interview (via MMA News). “But first of all, if you go through my category, now he have to do some fights, you know? Not, ‘OK, I go try again.’ Not for the title.
“First of all, he need to beat maybe two, three guys in 205, and then maybe then they give him chance for the title. But not immediately.”
It certainly sounds fair enough but one can imagine a couple more wins for Adesanya at middleweight, and he will likely get another shot at light heavyweight — especially if Blachowicz doesn’t remain champion for long.
Not that Blachowicz is planning on having that happen.

There is a light heavyweight title fight going down on the upcoming UFC 267 fight card. This bout is very important for both men involved. Champion Jan Blachowicz gets to prove once again that he belongs at the top of the division, while Glover Teixeira could be getting his last shot to be king. Blachowicz has had some time to reflect on his future opponent and seems to have figured him out a bit. Perhaps that is because he sees a bit of himself in Teixeira.
“I think with his age, something changed in his head,” Blachowicz told MMA Fighting. “Now, he know what to do, how to train, how to use his skills. Just his mentality is at the top right now. That’s why he’s #1, and he’s got (a) chance for the title. I was in this place before, but I catch this little bit earlier than him.”
At 38, Blachowicz will be the oldest competitor that the 41-year-old Teixeira has faced in some time. Blachowicz knows what it means to fight for a long career before seeing yourself at the top. Blachowicz began his MMA fighting career back in 2007. He worked his way to the UFC in 2014 and became champion in 2020.

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Blachowicz has revealed what middleweight king Israel Adesanya has to do to secure a rematch for the 205-pound gold.
After Jon Jones relinquished his title in pursuit of a move up to heavyweight, Blachowicz found himself fighting for the belt at UFC 253 last September. The Polish behemoth had secured his place in the vacant championship matchup with a three-fight win streak that includes victories over Luke Rockhold, Ronaldo Souza, and Corey Anderson.
While many expected former title challenger Dominick Reyes to leave Abu Dhabi with the strap, it was Blachowicz who finished “The Devastator” in the second round and reached the light heavyweight mountaintop. Despite the victory, the veteran was arguably still underrated leading into his first title defense, which came against Adesanya.
“The Last Stylebender” hadn’t lost in the cage, and most anticipated the crowning of the UFC’s latest two-division champion at UFC 259 this year. Instead, Blachowicz added the first blemish to the Nigerian-New Zealander’s record. After five rounds, the 38-year-old defended his gold via unanimous decision.
Jan Blachowicz Updates Requirements For Adesanya Rematch
Despite a largely comfortable victory for the 205-pound champ, the idea of a future rematch has floated around ever since. Given Adesanya’s dominance at middleweight, which has seen him accumulate wins over Robert Whittaker, Marvin Vettori, Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, and Derek Brunson, a second attempt at reaching the pinnacle of another division seems likely in the future.
In the aftermath of their headlining clash in March, Blachowicz claimed “The Last Stylebender” would have to defeat a top-10 light heavyweight to secure a second meeting in the Octagon with him. During a recent interview with SCMP MMA, the Warsaw-born star updated the conditions for a future rematch, suggesting Adesanya would have to have his hand raised against two or three in the division before fighting for the title again.
“Yeah, why not? It’s possible. But first of all, if you go through my category, now he have to do some fights, you know? Not, ‘OK, I go try again.’ Not for the title. First of all, he need to beat maybe two, three guys in 205, and then maybe then they give him chance for the title. But not immediately.”
Of course, the booking of a rematch all hinges on Blachowicz remaining on the light heavyweight throne. The next challenge to his place on it will come at UFC 267 on October 30. In Abu Dhabi, the Pole will look to defend his title against Brazilian veteran Glover Teixeira.
Should he defeat the 41-year-old, the potential future challenges of Ji?í Procházka, Aleksandar Raki?, and Anthony Smith look set to keep Blachowicz occupied until another outside interference into the light heavyweight title picture.

Blachowicz remains the UFC’s light heavyweight king and will defend his title at UFC 267 against Glover Teixeira. The event will mark the UFC’s return to Abu Dhabi for internationally-based main events.
As the champion, Blachowicz is always keeping an eye on the rising contenders in his division, including Walker. But, Walker has lost three of his last four fights including a recent defeat to Thiago Santos at UFC Vegas 38 by decision.
Walker was on his way to potential UFC stardom after winning nine fights in a row, but Blachowicz thinks losing has changed his mentality and approach to competition.
Jan Blachowicz Unsure What Caused Change In Johnny Walker
“Something happened for sure,” Blachowicz told the South China Morning Post. “He’s not the crazy fighter like in the beginning. I don’t know why. Maybe something happened with age. But maybe he’ll find this crazy [Johnny Walker] inside him again and start doing (it). But I don’t know.”
“Something bad happened with him. He’s not good to watch, so we’ll see in the future what’s gonna happen.”
Walker got off to a good start against Santos in his last fight, but many believed he seemed hesitant to throw combinations, especially in the later rounds. Walker’s struggles seemed to start after injuring himself while celebrating a knockout over Misha Cirkunov at UFC 235.
Blachowicz and Walker are on different paths in their UFC careers. Blachowicz has won five fights in a row including his title shot against Dominick Reyes, while Walker is looking to earn his first win since UFC Vegas 11.
Whether or not Walker’s recent struggles in the cage are a result of his injury issues is unclear, but Blachowicz feels that something needs to change for him to get back on track in the light heavyweight division.
Do you agree with Jan Blachowicz that Johnny Walker isn’t as dangerous as he once was early in his career?

The UFC light heavyweight champion did not mince his words about his old rival.
On Saturday, after Corey Anderson knocked out Ryan Bader at Bellator 268, the conversation started about the best light heavyweight fighter.
Bellator President Scott Coker believes that the winner of the Bellator Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix Tournament between champion Vadim Nemkov vs. Anderson will be the best 205er in the world.
Anderson already believes he is, and him holding a win over UFC champion Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira, who fight for the title next weekend at UFC 267, gives him some steam.
When Blachowicz got word about Anderson’s claim to being the best light heavyweight, he responded the following day.
Blachowicz knocked Corey Anderson out in their rematch at UFC Fight Night: Anderson vs. Blachowicz 2 in 2020. The fight was Anderson’s last fight in the UFC, and he would sign with Bellator six months later and has won all three of his fights by TKO.
Polish Power
On Wednesday, Blachowicz spoke with MMA Fighting and continued to rail on Anderson, calling him a coward for leaving the UFC.
“I just want to put him on the ground again. The difference between him and I is when I lost the fight, I don’t quit because I’m not a quitter,” Blachowicz told Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting.
“He lost the fight, and he quit, he let it go. Maybe the pressure was too much, and he went to another place [Bellator]. Like I said, the second league. Now he is talking and barking; I don’t understand. Why doesn’t he stay in the UFC? He can say everything right now, you know, money. No, he is just a coward and a quitter.”
While the trilogy fight between Blachowicz and Anderson is out of the question, with the pair being in different promotions, the trash talk between them will not stop anytime soon.

Corey Anderson was riding high following his first-round finish over Ryan Bader this past Saturday night in the semifinals of the Bellator light heavyweight Grand Prix. That was until he got a Tweet sent his way from his former opponent Jan Blachowicz. Blachowicz called out Anderson following his win.
“Hold up… So a guy who bolted from the UFC after I’ve slept him and almost made him retire, got a couple of wins in the 2nd league and claims he is the best?” Blachowicz wrote. “Maybe I’ve punched him to hard… No class in win or defeat Corey. There’s levels to this.”
Blachowicz holds a win over Anderson from back when they fought in the UFC at UFC Fight Night 167. He took a moment out from his own fight preparations to remind Anderson exactly who the light heavyweight king is. Anderson didn’t just take this insult, he came back with a little trash-talking himself.
“Let’s not forget,” Anderson responded. “What happened to you the 1st time I left you looking like elephant man. And you posted “I need to go home and rethink my career”. Yea I got knocked out in our 2nd fight (lucky punch?) but I made you my broad for 15 min straight nothing lucky about that.”
Anderson left the UFC back in 2020 right after the second bout with Blackowicz. He went on to sign with Bellator and has won all three of his bouts with the new organization. Anderson is just one fight away from bringing home the Bellator light heavyweight title. As for Blachowicz, following his win over Anderson, he went on to win the UFC 205 pound title and is about it defend it for the second time when he takes on Glover Teixeira at UFC 267.
If Jan Blachowicz and Corey Anderson fought for a third time right now, who do you think would win?
