Alex Pereira issued warning of KO against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291 he almost decapitates guys

Former undisputed middleweight champion, Alex Pereira has been issued a stern warning to avoid the striking of ex-light heavyweight titleholder, Jan Blachowicz, ahead of his Octagon return at UFC 291 in July.

Pereira, a former undisputed middleweight champion under the banner of the promotion, is slated to make his Octagon comeback later this year in a much-anticipated light heavyweight division debut – taking on former titleholder, Blachowicz at UFC 291 in July.

Taking co-main event honors, Sao Paulo native, Alez Pereira’s return will come before a BMF championship rematch between former interim lightweight titleholders, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje in Salt Lake City, Utah. 

Alex Pereira issued warning ahead of return to Octagon in July

However, ahead of his incoming light heavyweight clash with Blachowicz, Alex Pereira has been warned of the Polish veteran’s power by former duel-weight UFC champion, Daniel Cormier.

“We have seen (Israel) Adesanya hurt (Alex) Pereira in two fights,” Daniel Cormier said during a an episode of DC & RC. “He can’ get hit by Jan Blachowicz. Blachowicz hits so hard, bro. I have seen Blachowicz almost decapitate guys; Luke Rockhold, and Dominick Reyes. The way that he was knocking guys out for a while was very scary.” (Transcribed by MMA News)

Enjoying an undefeated streak through middleweight contenders prior to his April knockout loss to Adesanya, Alex Pereira had landed victories over Andreas Michailidis, Bruno Silva, Sean Strickland, and in his most recent win, defeated Adesanya to win middleweight gold last November in a rallying fifth round standing TKO win.

Headlining UFC 282 back in December, Blachowicz, a former KSW light heavyweight champion to boot, fought to a majority decision draw against Russian contender, Magomed Ankalaev in their vacant title showdown.

Over the course of their professional mixed martial arts careers, Pereira and Blachowicz have landed a whopping combined 15 separate knockout victories.

Former undisputed light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz insists he will not shy away from a striking battle with renowned knockout artist Alex Pereira at UFC 291 in July – as he prepares to welcome the former middleweight champion to the light heavyweight division. 

Blachowic, a former undisputed light heavyweight champion, most recently featured in the main event of UFC 282 back in December of last year, fighting to an eventual majority decision draw against Russian contender, Magomed Ankalaev in the pair’s vacant light heavyweight title fight.

As for Pereira, the Sao Paulo striker has yet to return to the Octagon since dropping the undisputed middleweight title against arch-rival, Israel Adesanya back in April in the main event of UFC 287, suffering a spectacular second round KO loss to the City Kickboxing staple.

“His (Alex Pereira) whole fighting career is just amazing,” Jan Blachowicz told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. “I love to fight against a fighter like this because I don’t need to look for motivation to prepare for this kind of fighter.”

“That’s why I want him,” Jan Blachowicz explained. “I want to check my standup against him, (and) his standup. I want to check how I’m gonna look because he’s one of the best strikers in the world. When Is ay my first fight, some people will think, ‘Oh, that’s an easy opponent.’ No, all of you know my story. I wasn middleweight champion. So, for sure, they [the UFC] wanted to give me one of the top-five ranked [fighters].”

“For me, it wasn’t a surprise,” Alex Pereira explained. “We were negotiating for a while. I was waiting for him [Jan Blachowicz]. So that’s it. I’m happy about the fight.”

Just over three months on from his brutal knockout loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 287, Pereira will be returning to action. Along with several other exciting matchups, it was recently announced the ‘Poatan’ will be making his awaited move up in weight class, and would be taking on former 205lbs champion, Blawhowicz. 

Blachowicz is currently ranked No.3 in at light-heavyweight and with the current state of the division, any big win could see anyone ranked one through five could see themselves in a title fight. 

“My next opponent will be Jan Blachowicz,” Pereira said via his YouTube channel. “He is a dangerous guy, an experienced guy, and a guy we know because of my training partner, Glover Teixeira, who fought him. Former undisputed Octagon champions, Alex Pereira, and Jan Blachowicz are set to meet on July 29. in the co-main event of UFC 291 in Salt Lake City, Utah – with the Brazilian finally booked to make his awaited leap to light heavyweight waters.

Pereira, a former undisputed middleweight champion, will make his light heavyweight division debut as per UFC president Dana White, taking on former division champion, Blachowicz over the course of three rounds in the promotion’s July return to Utah.

Atop that pay-per-view event, a symbolic BMF championship fight between former interim lightweight champions, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje will take main event billing.
