Sengoku Raiden Championship promoter World Victory Road announced four fights on Wednesday for its end of year “Soul Of Fight” event including the biggest featherweight bout in Japan for the year; Shooto Champion Hatsu Hioki will take on Sengoku Featherweight Champion Marlon Sandro in the Brazilian’s first title defense.

Aside from controversial split decision losses to Michihiro Omigawa both Sandro and Hioki have torn through the competition within Sengoku over the last two years, both fighters earning consensus top-ten rankings.

Also announced: Kazuo Misaki will return for the first time since his thrilling fight of the year candidate with Middleweight Champion Jorge Santiago to face Mike Seal; Yukio Sakaguchi will come out of retirement in a SRC “jacket rules” bout against Jin Suk Jung; and New Japan Kickboxing Champion Norihiro “Musashi” Miyamoto and WPMF Champion Hiroki Komata will clash under Muay Thai rules.

K-1 and DREAM promoter Fighting Entertainment Group are starting to fall apart at the seams, and Gary Goodridge is the latest in a long line of fighters to come forward and confirm that.

Bibiano Fernandes, Andy Souwer, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and others on and off the record have stated over the past twelve months that they have not been paid in a timely fashion for fights under the FEG banner and although Goodridge first made his situation known back in August , he claims that he has still not received his compensation.

“It’s been almost a year since I fought Mousasi at FEG’s NYE show in Japan. I want my money. I stayed quiet because I thought they were going to pay me but I still haven’t seen a penny. I have bills I have to pay. I worked for the Japanese people for over a decade, and I never thought they would treat me like this.”

While speaking with Golden Glory founder and manager Bas Boon a couple weeks ago, I told him how much the Potato Nation was digging The Reem series and I asked him if there were any plans to profile other GG fighters like Marloes Coenen, Sergei Kharitonov or Semmy Schilt in a similar fashion.

According to Boon, the cost of making The Reem (which is completely produced out of pocket by his company) is very high as they have had to hire a crew to follow Alistair 24-7. Although it isn’t something he says they are working on at the moment,  he says he hasn’t closed the door on the notion altogether.

This isn’t the only fan-centric initiative Golden Glory has put on.

If you recall, the Holland-based gym also streamed its Glory MMA and kickboxing event last month for free, although they could have easily charged fans to watch it. Boon told us that the reasoning behind the decision was that they simply wanted to increase the exposure of their fighters and the sport, which is why they decided to give it away.

We need more people involved in MMA who value the fans as much as Golden Glory does.
