Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Captures K1 World Grand Prix Final; Defeats Ismael Londt By Decision

Former PRIDE champ and UFC fighter Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipović has finally captured his first K-1 championship by winning the 2012 World Grand Prix Final. ‘Cro Cop’ earned three wins in one evening on Friday night in Zagreb, Croatia by defeating opponents Jarrell Miller, Pavel Zhuravlev and Ismael Londt all by decision. MMA fans last saw Filipović compete in Japan this past December earning a submission win, ending a three fight losing skid which took all took place in the Octagon.

Press Release – On March 15th, 2013, K-1 World Grand Prix Final will be held in the city of Zagreb, Croatia. This is the home country of kick boxing and MMA legend, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.

The Arena Zagreb has a seating capacity of over 22.000. This will be the first time in history that Croatia has hosted a sporting event of this magnitude. The event will be broadcast worldwide and standing room only crowds are anticipated.

Returning to his kickboxing roots, Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovi? stepped into the ring for the first time in almost nine years for a K-1 rules bout versus heavy hitter ‘Suga’ Ray Sefo. In their younger years, Sefo is 41 and ‘Cro Cop’ is 37, both were noted for their heavy hands but in their later years both have lost a bit of their edge. Despite that fact, both men packed the Zagreb Arena in Filipovi?’s hometown of Zagreb, Croatia.

Catch their full fight here, as both men go the distance. At the end of the night it would be the hometown hero, Filipovi?, earning the nod from the judges to the delight of the Croatian crowd.
