Gabi Garcia has come clean as she admitted she has used PEDs in her career.

Garcia is an MMA fighter but is more known for her grappling career as he is a member of the IBJJF Hall of Fame. However, she often has been accused of using PEDs, and speaking in a recent face-to-face interview with Craig Jones, Garcia has admitted to PED use.

“Come on. 34 years in this sport. I use for like a long time,” Garcia confessed.

Many have thought Garcia has used PEDs in her career, but she has never admitted it until now. Although she admitted it, she didn’t say when she did or if she still is using it. But, that no doubt helped her in her MMA fights and grappling matches.

Garcia is 6-0 and one NC as a pro MMA fighter and last competed in 2018 when she picked up a submission win over Barbara Nepomuceno.

Gabi Garcia set to grapple Craig Jones

Gabi Garcia and Craig Jones are set to grapple in a highly-anticipated matchup at The Craig Jones Invitational on August 16-17, 2024.

Garcia vs. Jones will be the marquee match of the event, and Jones broke the news while he was on The Joe Rogan Experience.

“I signed this maybe an hour and a half ago. It might be one of the biggest events in sporting history… The most decorated female athlete of all time, GG [Gabi Garcia] has put pen to paper to face me at my own event. One hundred percent gonna happen. We signed this contract earlier,” Jones said (via BJJee.com)

“I’ll take her on. I feel good. I probably won’t train for her, I’ll be planning this damn event… I won’t train that hard. I’m happy she is doing it, though. We’ve been talking about this for two and a half years. Feels like an arranged marriage or something,” Jones added.

It is an event that both have talked about making happen and later this month it will finally happen.

We may not know when Tony Ferguson will step back inside the Octagon, but it sounds like we could see him hit the mat before then.

According to ‘El Cucuy,’ he was offered the opportunity to roll with former lightweight world champion Charles Oliveira at a future UFC Fight Pass Invitational event.

“Was offered a grappling match against good ol’e Charlie Olives AKA Chuck for @UFCFightPass Invitational,” Ferguson wrote on his Instagram stories.

With UFC Fight Pass Invitational 7 scheduled to go down on Wednesday, May 15, Ferguson was likely offered a spot on a yet-to-be-announced card.

Their potential grappling match would serve as a rematch of sorts after the two stepped inside the Octagon against one another at UFC 256 in December 2020. Oliveira earned himself a unanimous decision victory, handing Ferguson his second-straight loss.

Tony Ferguson convinced he can still compete at the highest level

Since then, Tony Ferguson has grown his losing streak to near-record-breaking seven-straight defeats. Following his latest loss to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 296, fans, pundits, and even UFC CEO Dana White called for ‘El Cucuy’ to lay down his gloves for good.

Unfortunately, Ferguson has failed to take the advice of his peers, remaining convinced that he can turn things around and get back to the version of himself that once rattled off 12 straight wins in what was the most talent-rich division at the time.

As for Charles Oliveira, ‘Do Bronx’ is fresh off a split decision loss to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300 last month. With the loss, Oliveira will move back down the lightweight ladder, paving the way for Dustin Poirier to step up and accept a fight with the division’s top dog, Islam Makhachev.

Still, Oliveira is sitting as the No. 2 ranked contender in the division, meaning one big win could put him right back into the title picture. However, ‘Do Bronx’ recently suggested that a move up to welterweight could be in his future.

Jaqueline Amorim’s Entry Into Martial Arts

Jaqueline Amorim

Jaqueline “Jacque” Amorim grew up in Amazonas within the Brazilian state of Manaus. Her father was also a BJJ practitioner, who idolized Royce Gracie and got into training because of him.

When Jacque was born, her father had to give up training to work, but still loved Jiu-Jitsu. After Amorim turned six, her father would enroll her at the ASLE academy.

This was the same academy where BJJ legends like Jacare Souza and Ary Farias started their BJJ journey. ASLE also offered programs in Judo and freestyle wrestling, which Jaque also took part in.

She was coached by some of the best grappling athletes in the world in Jacare, Alcenor Alves, and Henrique Machado.

Jaque’s GrapplingBJJ Career

As a teen, Jacque became extremely dedicated to her freestyle wrestling training and wanted to get on the Olympic team. For over four years, Amorim dedicated herself to freestyle wrestling and made the Brazilian Cadet Squad.

At the same time, Amorim was also a serious BJJ competitor. At fourteen, she switched academies and began training extensively under Mestre Pina.

Under Pina, Jacque won every major BJJ championship from purple belt to brown belt. She was a 2x BJJ world champion at purple belt, 1x No-Gi world champ at purple and brown belt.

Amorim was promoted to black belt in 2015 and began competing as pro black belt for the next two years. To compete in more IBJJF tournaments, she moved to the US with her husband to train under legend Leo Vieira.

As a pro grappler, Jaqueline earned 2nd at No-Gi Worlds in 2016 and a 3rd place finish at BJJ Worlds in 2017.

After a moderately successful run as a pro grappler, Jaqueline Amorim, would make the transition over to MMA. From 2017 to 2020, she worked on her striking in order to prepare for a potential MMA career.

Jacque made her amateur MMA debut in her hometown of Amazonas in 2020 on Mr. Cage 42. In front of her friends and family, Jaqueline’s debut was a success as she won by 1st round armbar.

Less than a month later, Jacque would win her pro debut by arm-triangle before signing with LFA. In the LFA, continued putting her skills on display for the world.

She won her LFA debut by rear naked choke in just 33 seconds and followed that win with a 10 second KO win. Amorim followed up that KO with two more first round submission wins to boost her record to 5-0.

After five spectacular wins, the UFC called Jacque and invited her to compete in the world’s biggest MMA organization.

Jaqueline Amorim’s Current UFC Run

At 5-0, Amorim was a highly-touted prospect going into the UFC. At this time, she began training full-time at American Top Team to take her skills to a new level.

Unfortunately, Jacque’s UFC debut against Sam Hughes did not go how she wanted. Whether it was nerves from Amorim’s debut or just an off-night, her opponent controlled the fight and earned a decision.

After losing her UFC debut, Amorim can back better than ever to prove that she wasn’t all hype. In her second UFC fight against Montserrat Conejo Ruiz, Jaqueline controlled her opponent and won by 3rd round TKO.

In her third UFC fight against Cory McKenna, Amorim looked to be back in full form. The former BJJ champion earned a quick armbar victory in the first round to boost her pro record to 8-1.

Jacque’s Fighting Style

Jaqueline Amorim possesses world-class grappling abilities as she’s displayed in almost all of her wins. As a professional fighter, Amorim currently has a staggering 75% submission rate in her fights.

All of her wins have come by finishes as she’s currently won six by submission and two by strikes. She is showing that she is one of the most dangerous strawweight fighters on the ground.

As Amorim continues to develop her striking abilities, she could become one of the most well-rounded fighters at strawweight.

What’s Next For Jaqueline Amorim?

Jaqueline Amorim is currently 8-1 as a professional fighter and 2-1 in the UFC. She is one of the more promising up-and-coming strawweight fighters with a lot of potential to go far in her career.

Jaque is looking to work her way up the rankings and crack the top 15 by the end of the year. Don’t be surprised to see Amorim get into title contention within the next few years.

Tye Ruotolo

Five months removed from his ONE welterweight submission grappling world title-winning performance against Magomed Abdulkadirov, Tye Ruotolo returned to the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium set to defend his crown for the very first time.

Standing in his way of a sixth straight victory was Aussie newcomer and the No. 2 ranked 185-pound grappler per FloGrappling.com, Izaak Michell.

Ruotolo attempted to shoot in for a takedown right out of the gate, but Michell was able to use his strength and stuff the attempt with ease. Michell dropped down for his own takedown attempt, but Ruotolo aggressively sprawled before getting back to his feet and separating. Jockeying for position, Ruotolo exploded, forcing Michell to back up on defense, allowing the 21-year-old star to bring him down and immediately move into mount.

Attempting to defend, Michell gave up his back, allowing Ruotolo to cinch his arm under the chin and lock in a rear naked choke. Unable to break free, Michell had no choice, but to tap out seconds before the halfway point of the 10-round match.

Official Result: Tye Ruotolo def. Izaak Michell via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:43.

Kade Ruotolo

Reigning ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo returned to the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok for a 180-pound catchweight clash with accomplished BJJ sensation Francisco Lo.

Lo came out fairly aggressive in the opening minute and attempted to jump triangle after finding himself backed into a corner. Ruotolo wisely avoided falling into the trap, but the exchange ultimately resulted in Lo pulling guard and dragging the 21-year-old star to the mat. Lo slapped on a body triangle to keep Ruotolo from passing.

Rutolo climbed back up to his feet, prompting Lo to attempt a heel hook. Ruotolo successfully escaped and scrambled away. Lo initiated another grappling exchange, but his overzealousness allowed Ruotolo to take top control and transition to Lo’s back. With the hooks in, Ruotolo cinched in an arm-in rear-naked choke, forcing the Brazilian to tap out almost instantly.

Official Result: Kade Ruotolo def. Francisco Lo via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:48.

Demetrious Johnson grapples 250-pound giant at IBJJF Pan Championships, takes home gold

After 20 years and multiple world titles, P4P great Demetrious Johnson continues to dominate the competition.

Johnson — who is tied for the most consecutive title defenses in UFC history and still reigns as the ONE flyweight world champion — added some more gold to his trophy case at the 2024 IBJJF Pan Championships. Competing as a brown belt under Matt Hume and fellow ONE superstar Bibiano Fernandes, ‘Mighty Mouse’ took down three different opponents to stand atop the podium in the Master 2 featherweight division of the tournament.

Johnson also took home a silver medal in the openweight division where, according to a post from MMA journalist Ariel Helwani on X, his first opponent was 6’3″ and 250 pounds.

Demetrious Johnson Continues to Collect gold while mMA career hands in limbo

Demetrious Johnson’s last appearance inside the ONE Championship Circle came in May 2023 at ONE Fight Night 10 in Denver, Colorado. ‘Mighty Mouse’ successfully closed out his trilogy with former champion Adriano Moraes, retaining the promotion’s flyweight title with a decisive unanimous decision victory. Since then, DJ has left the door open for a return to ONE, but only if something truly intriguing comes along. Until then Johnson appears to be happy collecting gold medals at BJJ events around the country.

Check out some shots from Johnson’s dominant showing at the IBJJF Pans below:
