Middleweight prospect Joaquin Buckley insists he will continue to work at Walgreens for the foreseeable future despite making a splash since joining the UFC earlier this year.
Buckley got a late notice call to face off against Kevin Holland back in August. On that occasion, he was tough and gritty but ultimately fell short against Holland who is now set to main event opposite middleweight #3 Jack Hermansson on December 5.
A couple of months later and Buckey was back in action against unbeaten, highly fancied prospect Impa Kasanganay. ‘New Mansa’ pulled off one of the most epic knockouts in MMA history to snatch Impa’s hype, undefeated record, and a cool $50,000 bonus. This past weekend Buckley fought against another unbeaten fighter in Jordan Wright. Buckley scored a vicious knockout win and picked up another $50,000 performance of the night bonus.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Buckley revealed despite having a fledging career in the UFC and earning a significant amount of money from that career in 2020 he will continue to work as an assistant manager at Walgreens.
“The thing is besides UFC and they’re giving me these big checks, I still don’t have a business of my own,” Buckley said, “So, I need to just keep working and still having that working mentality and work ethic. So, I’m gonna just keep holding down a job.
“If I’m able to make a business for myself and start up a business for myself. I think it a perfect opportunity to shout this out right now,” Buckley added. “We are starting up a clothing apparel line – Solid Foundation… Besides that we are going to still work at Walgreens. Until my business is off the ground you know we still gonna be working for Walgreens.”

Joaquin ‘New Mansa’ Buckley’s star continues to rise. Fresh from a highlight-reel spinning-back kick knockout win over Impa Kasangany earlier this year, the 26-year-old moves to 2-1 in the promotion with a second-round flattening of Jordan ‘The Beverley Hills Ninja’ Wright.
Heaped with pressure following his stunning, jumping, spinning back-kick KO of Kasanganay in October, middleweight powerhouse, Buckley continued to streak with a massive second-round stoppage of the dangerous Wright.
Hurting the Antoni Hardonk and Vladimir Matyushenko trainee before the opening-round buzzer, Wright returned to his stool in back knick, before dropping to a defeat in the early goings of the second round.
Pressuring Wright early, Buckely, who plys his trade at Finney’s HIT Squad, forced Wright back to the fence, before unloading with a massive left hook, right hand combination, with Wright slumping to the canvas.
Following the win, Buckley spoke with UFC colour-commentator, Joe Rogan, and elected against naming rival, ‘The’ James Krause, although called for a UFC 257 pairing with the veteran on January 23rd.
Below, check out Buckley’s stunning second-round stoppage of Wright.

The newest UFC star, Joaquin Buckley has offered his opinion on who owns the greatest knockout in MMA history. Buckley started a debate about the best ever KO’s when he propelled himself into consideration with his viral KO at UFC Fight Island 5 last weekend.
Buckley was making just his second appearance for the UFC after previously suffering a third-round stoppage defeat to Kevin Holland in his debut. An underdog in this fight against the previously unbeaten Kasanganay – he started well. In the second-round things managed to get astronomically better. Buckley threw a high kick that was caught by his opponent. He then used that as momentum to throw and land the most perfect spinning back kick you’ll ever see – check it out here.
Since the fight, Buckley has been showered with praise, gone viral, picked up a $50,000 bonus, inspired Kanye West to create new music, and been booked for another bout. In a recent interview with MMA Fighting Buckley revealed he is feeling confident about his chances of claiming the best knockout in 2020 but is unsure if he is the owner of the greatest KO of all time.
“I’d give myself the ‘Knockout of the Year,’ but my favorite knockout is Dan Henderson with the ‘H-Bomb’ over [Michael] Bisping,” Buckley said. “That’s always going to be the most devastating, vicious knockout to me.”
Buckley took time to talk through his experience of landing the kick and the process of realizing his opponent was out.
“I wasn’t able to see the reaction of him until I turned all the way around,” he said. “I knew I had hit him hard enough to at least knock him down, if not knock him out. So when I turned around, I was going to rush him to finish the job. But once I saw his body lock up, I knew that was game over. There was no need for any unnecessary punishment.”
