UFC light heavyweight prospect Johnny Walker could move to Tristar gym for his next fight camp.

Walker enjoyed a meteoric rise since debuting for the promotion in 2018. However, his most recent outing saw him suffer a shock first-round TKO defeat to Corey Anderson at UFC 244 last month.

Wanting to return to action as soon as possible, the Brazilian is looking to compete at UFC Brasilia which takes place March 14 with Nikita Krylov being a rumored opponent. And to further boost his chances of returning to the win column, he is reportedly in talks with Firas Zahabi about holding his camp at Tristar.

“Spoke to Firas Zahabi (@Firas_Zahabi) this morning,” Okamoto tweeted. “He told me he’s been talking to Johnny Walker (@Johnnywalkermma) about holding his next camp at Tristar in Montreal. Interesting move for the 205er.”

Zahabi, of course, is the head coach of Tristar in Montreal who has trained the likes of Georges St-Pierre and Rory MacDonald. Kevin Lee made the full-time move there recently and the result was a first-round knockout of Gregor Gillespie last month.

Training under Zahabi could see Walker go up another level.

The UFC is looking to bring back Robert Whittaker in March, but it won’t be against Darren Till, as both men expressed interest in.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani is reporting that the Las Vegas-based mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion is looking at Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier for March 7. Whittaker comes off of a second-round knockout loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 243. Cannonier is doing phenomenal at the moment, on a three-fight win streak, and coming off a TKO win over Jack Hermansson.

Helwani also reports the UFC is looking at Johnny Walker vs. Nikita Krylov for March 14. Walker comes off the first defeat of his UFC career, suffering a first-round TKO loss to Corey Anderson on the featured preliminary bout of UFC 244 inside Madison Square Garden in New York. It ended Walker’s three-fight win streak. As for Krylov, he has dropped two of his last three bouts. In his most recent outing, Krylov suffered a decision loss to Glover Teixeira.

The report suggests Walker vs. Krylov is all but done. However, Whittaker vs. Cannonier is not yet finalized, as Whittaker still likes the idea of fighting Till in London.

“Couple of other fights being discussed for March: Jared Cannonier vs. Robert Whittaker, March 7. Johnny Walker vs. Nikita Krylov, March 14. I’m told the latter is all but done, but the former is still in talks because Whittaker really likes the idea of London v Till.”

Johnny Walker is targeting former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman for his next fight.

Walker is coming off his first-ever loss in the promotion following a shock first-round TKO defeat to Corey Anderson at UFC 244 earlier this month.

Weidman, meanwhile, is also coming off a loss following an unsuccessful light heavyweight debut against Dominick Reyes last month.

“The All American” later stated he wasn’t sure if he would continue at light heavyweight or return back to his old division. However, he was certain about one thing — he has no plans on retiring anytime soon.

Walker is looking to take advantage of that as he called out Weidman on Wednesday:

“Hey @chrisweidman , that’s funny, I also want to fight in February or March! What a coincidence! What date do you prefer? Let’s dance! ?” Walker tweeted.

Weidman would respond soon after, though he remained unsure of whether he would keep fighting at 205.

“Hey ! Thanks for the call out! I will let you know when I decide what I wanna do next,” he replied.

It wasn’t the response Walker wanted but he thanked Weidman for the quick response in what ended a very respectful back-and-forth between the two fighters:

“Thank you for the quick answer champ! I’ll be waiting and ready for any date! See you soon ? #Godblessyou” Walker responded.
