B,J. Penn battles Jon Fitch at UFC 127.After a slow weekend in mixed martial arts, the action heats back up on Saturday night when the UFC heads to Australia for UFC 127, featuring B.J. Penn taking on Jon Fitch in the main event and a couple of intriguing fights on the undercard.

To get geared up for the fight card, I engaged Ben Fowlkes in a discussion about where Penn and Fitch fit in the welterweight division (Ben disagrees with me about where Penn should rank if he wins), what Chris Lytle can prove by extending his current winning streak to five and how close George Sotiropoulos is to lightweight title contention.

They say a picture paints a thousand words, but I’d like to now take the time to add a few more words to the video content and fully explain the adventure I’m currently embarking on, three weeks out from my fight against BJ Penn at UFC 127 on Saturday, Feb. 26.

This move towards a healthier lifestyle began in the weeks leading up to UFC 100, when I was preparing to face Paulo Thiago and, a few weeks out from the fight, decided to cut out meat from my diet and eat purely raw and organic foods. I noticed the difference straight away and felt great as a result.

Then, last December, I stumbled across a book called The China Study by T. Colin Campbell, and read it from front to back while out in Australia a couple of months ago promoting this upcoming UFC 127 show.

UFC president Dana White confirmed Tuesday that the main event fight between B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch on Feb. 27 will determine the next No. 1 contender for the UFC welterweight championship.

“Let’s face it, the reality is B.J. Penn has held titles in both weight classes,” White said on the UFC 127 media call. “Fitch has fought for the title and has literally dominated that division for a long time, just didn’t win the title. Any one of these guys that wins this fight is in the mix — the No. 1 guy.”
