UFC lightweights, Paddy Pimblett and Jordan Leavitt have squared off for the first time before their fight this weekend at UFC London.

With just a few days away from the UFC’s much-anticipated return to London, there is no fighter more talked about than Liverpool’s Paddy Pimblett, who will be making his third UFC appearance, facing off against Jordan Leavitt.

Pimblett has drawn many critics since he first arrived in the UFC, with many feeling that the 27-year old Leavitt will pose the biggest threat ‘The Baddy’ has faced in his career to date. Leavitt is 3-1 in the UFC and has proven himself as a solid wrestler and grappler, with only three of his 10 wins having gone to the scorecards.

Pimblett is no slouch when it comes to grappling himself, a BJJ blackbelt who holds nine wins by submission, when it comes to grappling the Scouser always looks for the finish. ‘The Baddy’ has also displayed his improving striking, knocking out Luigi Vendramini in the first round during his UFC debut, an aspect of his game that he has promised to display on Saturday.

Paddy Pimblett and Jordan Leavitt Face Off

As part of the official fight week procedures, after their media scrums, Pimblett and Leavitt came face to face for the first ever time.

Pimblett is coming into this fight week differently than we have ever seen him before, in between his comical one-liners, there is a serious edge beginning to show.

Leavitt has been critical of Pimblett’s skills and past opponents and in response, Pimblett has sent out threats such as: “My man doesn’t even wanna be there. I can’t wait to rearrange this mushrooms face for him.”

Jordan Leavitt has predicted a potential riot at UFC London should he defeat polarizing star, Paddy Pimblett this weekend in the capital, claiming that he will likely “booty shake” or “twerk” on his opponent should he land a main card victory.

Leavitt, a product of Dana White’s Contender Series, returns to the Octagon this weekend in the most high-profile outing his professional career to date, as he features on the main card of UFC London against former Cage Warriors champion, Pimblett.

Riding an impressive run of two straight victories, including a recent split decision win over Trey Ogden into The O2 Arena event, Leavitt has only dropped one single professional defeat in the form of a judging loss to Claudio Puelles.

Jordan Leavitt insists he is a fan of Paddy Pimblett ahead of their UFC London clash

Teasing a charismatic and outlandish celebration should he defeat Pimblett on Saturday, Leavitt, who has previously donned the splits amid other headline-grabbing post-fight celebrations, admits that he has no issue with Pimblett, and offered to “chill” with the Liverpool native in the future, but maintains he very probably knocks the highly-touted upstart out.

“I’m gonna cause a ruckus, that’s for sure,” Jordan Leavitt told LowKick MMA reporter, Nikhil Sharma, ahead of UFC London. “And, you know – I actually like Paddy (Pimblett), I’m a fan of him. I’ve never once had a fight where the majority of the attention is on people liking me, so that’s weird. You have to be really disliked to make me popular. Like, ‘I’m the savior of the sport’ or whatever. I admire his game, I think he’s funny, he’s got good charisma.”

“Under different circumstances, I think we would vibe, you know. I’ll beat him once, and I’ll twerk in London, cause a riot, get my protective detail to take care of me,” Jordan Leavitt explained. “And then maybe when he’s back in the States, we can go chill.”

Returning for the second UFC London edition this year, back in March, former Cage Warriors featherweight champion, Pimblett defeated Kazula Vargas with a first round rear-naked choke as part of a rallying performance in the capital.

Paddy Pimblett predicts a KO over Jordan Leavitt

UFC changed its plans for the year to get back into the UK for another show following the massive success of UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Aspinall. “The Baddy” had previously mentioned that he would not fight for the same pay. He reportedly got a new deal with a nice bump in his earnings considering how big of a draw he is in the country.

Taking to his Twitter, Paddy Pimblett predicted a knockout for his fight with “The Monkey King”.

“You can expect the same as always from me, the most entertaining fight on the card,” he said. “I come to fight, I put on a show for everyone and everyone knows that. Whether I’m on the mic, whether we’re fighting, whether it’s the entrance, people are coming to this show to watch me, to watch yours truly.”

Pimblett plans to put on a spectacle larger than the last time around.

“I’m going to top out this time now easily. Last time was special but this time’s going to be iconic. It’s going to be next-level sh*t. I got a sub in the first round last time. This time, I’m coming out to knock him out in the first round to make the crowd go wild once again.”

He didn’t seem to have any animosity towards Leavitt earlier but changed his stance after Leavitt’s comments discrediting his abilities.

“I’ve never minded Jordan Leavitt until like four weeks ago when he started chatting all sh*t. He had about 12,000 followers until his fight with me got announced. Now he’s got 30. I’m giving him fans. Chatting all this twerking and all that bullsh*t. You’re not going to have a chance to twerk lad because I’m going to put you fast in two minutes and then teebag you like we’re in Modern Warfare 2. Watch.”

Paddy Pimblett’s weight cuts have already become the talk of the mixed martial arts world with just two fights in the UFC.

Following his win over Rodrigo Vargas in London this March, Pimblett went on a much-publicized eating binge that saw the fighter grow from his fight night weight of 155 pounds to 202 pounds, a 47-pound increase in just a matter of weeks.

Speaking with Gary Neville on his Sky Sports show The Overlap, ‘The Baddy’ appeared with his close friend and fellow UFC fighter Molly McCann to talk about Pimblett’s upcoming fight with Jordan Leavitt on July 23rd and his recent weight gain.

“We’ve struggled in the past when we’ve been unprofessional about it,” Pimblett said. “But now we’re very professional about it, so we don’t. People say to me ‘oh, you’re fat,’ and think I struggle, I’ve still got 14.5kg to lose, but that’s nothing. Around six weeks ago, I was 93kg and I fight at 70. That was me being fat.”

Paddy Pimblett Documents His Insane Post-UFC London Eating Binge

In an episode of the Liverpudlian’s YouTube series ‘BaddyTV’, Pimblett documented his post-UFC London eating including a day where the fighter reportedly consumed nearly 11,000 calories.

Many, including Neville, questioned whether or not the ability to gain and lose weight as he has is sustainable long-term. Paddy Pimblett admitted that at some point, he will likely make an effort to keep his weight at a reasonable rate between fights rather than relying on his ability to cut an extreme amount heading into a bout.

“I might grow up a bit more and actually keep my weight down a bit. I was in America drinking gallons of Coke every day, eating 7,000 calories a day, easy.” The Monday after my fight I got home and I just went for scrans the next day. I went for Nando’s and then I was just eating chocolate all day. I counted my calories and I ate 11,000 calories the Monday after I fought. That was without trying, my cheeks were all like [puffed out]. I’ll do 5kg overnight, I’d do 10lb in a bath overnight.”

Pimblett went on to discuss some of his weight-cutting measures following the excessive gains made after his last appearance.

“We get put in a bath hot, like a sauna, it’s not a nice bath, it’s roasting and when you get out your skin is red. You lie on like a towel as well with sleeping bags, they wrap you in a quilt and you lie there and carry on sweating and you just repeat and repeat until you make weight.”

‘The Baddy’ returns to his home country on July 23rd to face Jordan Leavitt. It will be the UFC’s second appearance in London, the first coming in March where the promotion delivered a critically-acclaimed card loaded with highlight-reel finishes. Many of the fighters scheduled for the March event will return for this month’s highly-anticipated return to the UK.

The UFC’s newest rising star, Paddy Pimblett predicts a first-round knockout over his next opponent, Jordan Leavitt on July 23 in London.

After a first successful trip to UK soil after the Covid-19 pandemic back in March, the UFC is set to return next month, with the man who received possibly the best reception, Paddy Pimblett, again featuring on the card.

The Baddy’ will return against ‘The Monkey King’ Jordan Leavitt, an awkward fighter who holds a 3-1 record inside the Octagon, two of which have come by stoppage.

Although Leavitt poses a real threat and his unique style has the potential to make it a tough night for Pimblett, the Scouser is confident that he will stop Leavitt in the first round.

Despite being more known for his grappling prowess, since linking up with his boxing coach Chris Williams, Pimblett seems to have much more confidence in his hands and believes it will be enough to put Leavitt away in the first round.

“I don’t even know that much about him, to be honest. He’s a black belt in jiu-jitsu, he’s 3-1 in the UFC. As I say he’s a black belt, so that’s the best thing he’s got going for him. I’m gonna knock him out on the feet, in the first five minutes more than likely.

“That’s it. I’m gonna go out and put it on him in a big way. He’ll wilt under the pressure in the first or early in the second and I’m gonna finish him, simple as.” (H/T GiveMeSport).

Jordan Leavitt seems to pose the biggest threat to Pimblett in his UFC career so far, as the American is only 27 years old and has never been stopped in his MMA career, amateur or professional.

“He has a very good eye for the finish and I think he has legitimate power and legitimate finishing ability but I think at the end of the day, my fundamentals are a little bit more crisp and I do think I just have a few attributes he’s not prepared for,” he told LowKickMMA.

Jordan Leavitt believes he has a high chance of knocking out Paddy Pimblett in their upcoming fight.

‘The Monkey King’ will take on Pimblett in his homeland at UFC Fight Night London on July 23 at the O2 Arena. Leavitt will be making his third outing to the octagon in under eight months and will be going into the bout off two wins.

Pimblett has featured twice under the UFC so far and will mark his third appearance against Leavitt. In his most recent win, ‘The Baddy’ made a comeback after getting dropped to defeat Rodrigo Vargas by submission in the first round.

Jordan Leavitt predicts a knockout against Paddy Pimblett

In an exclusive interview with LowKick MMA, Jordan Leavitt predicted: “a high possibility” of knocking out Pimblett.

“I can predict that there’s a high possibility of a knockout,” said Leavitt. “We both have one real knockout, I have the slam and he has his UFC debut. Both our debuts are our only knockouts, legitimately. Then on paper, I have way better defense, and then he has better “punching power” supposedly. I don’t know I think skill pays the bill.

“He has a very good eye for the finish and I think he has legitimate power and legitimate finishing ability but I think at the end of the day, my fundamentals are a little bit more crisp and I do think I just have a few attributes he’s not prepared for.”

Talking about Pimblett’s latest fight against Vargas, Leavitt said that he was not impressed by the 27-year-old Liverpool native’s performance and believes he has fought higher competition in the past.

“I think he really won that fight more out of things Vargas did wrong as opposed to things that Paddy did right. He, Vargas did not defend the rear-naked choke, at all,” Leavitt added. “Paddy threw three punches, missed all of them, got rocked, shot a takedown, had no confidence fell to his back, so like, when you watch the fight on mute, and then the commentators are telling me how big of a deal this is.

“It’s not very impressive from my point of view, respectfully you know with all due respect but I’ve fought people with much better highlights and I don’t listen to the commentators and all the flash.”

Leavitt does not see Pimblett as a tough challenge and remains confident ahead of the bout.

“It doesn’t really seem too difficult of a matchup for me I think I’ve fought better people on the ground and better people on the feet. No one’s been close to finishing a fight against me except for one little guillotine that was a little scary. So, I’m feeling pretty chill about it.”
